I have a fair amount of distrust when it comes to practitioners of the field of dentistry but I've finally found a dentist I trust 100% with my teeth and my money. I've been seeing Darcy Kastner DDS for well over 5 years now and have had some great experiences with not having a bunch of unnecessary procedures done. The old office was on X Street which was a little sketch, but the new office at 33rd and J is nice and clean (not that the old office wasn't), the neighborhood is much nicer and the staff is always kind and courteous. When I was given an estimate that was 167 dollars above what my dental insurance would cover just for a basic cleaning, I walked. $485 for a cleaning? Loved this place for years. But there's no longer any concept of people needing to be notified BEFORE a service that there might be a big bill. Was asked to pay $160 for a dental cleaning (usually they are about $30) because they weren't sure if my insurance was going to cover it. But I wasn't told until after the cleaning. My partner was here a couple weeks ago and paid the normal amount for the cleaning, same insurance. I was referred by Dr Kasner to a terrible endodontist and then had to go somewhere else to get oral surgery to fix what the endodontist neglected to take care of (had an abcess for about 7 months with no proper treatment and then a root canal that was extremely likely to fail). So today they were concerned that the insurance had been used up on the surgery and wanted me to pay $160 "in case" insurance doesn't pay out. Giving 2 stars because they've got great hygienists. I always liked Dr Kasner so I wanted to come back even though things went really bad with the referral to Dr Tsai. She didn't even ask how I was doing, just wanted the records from the oral surgeon and obviously had no time for me. She didn't tell me until after the cleaning that it might not be covered but she said the bill would be a bundle deal if insurance wouldn't pay. I was pretty sure insurance was going to pay so that sounded fine. But then I go out front and the staff says something different and tried to charge me without even checking with my insurance. I don't have $160 for y'all "in case" insurance doesn't pay. Running your practice that way is some bougie bs. It's nice y'all have lived a life where a surprise $150 isn't a big deal to you, but there's a whole lot of us out here who can't just pull money out of our ass. And it's really shady to not even tell someone there is a charge like that until the end of the appointment. I'm done going here. I'll go to the dentist who helped me with the oral surgery emergency I had instead. They were up front and gave a shit about people, even people who don't have a bunch of money! read more

My fiancé and I both go here. I am one of those people who can never find a doctor, barber, or dentist that I like, and I live in constant fear of all three. No need to be afraid of this place, they are great. All the hygienists are gentle, thorough, and watchful for any indication of pain. I'm a fidgety person and they're always quick to stop and ask if I'm "experiencing any pain", but the answer is always "No, I'm just really fidgety." Dr. K is very nice too and I am pretty sure my teeth are the healthiest they've ever been. Been here for four visits now and will continue to be a patient here for as long as I have teeth. Not a usual patient here but 5 stars for being the only dentist in the area that was able to see me urgently. I have an inlay in my molar that fell out chewing a Ginger Elizabeth Macaroon (worth it ). My usual dentist soonest availability was 2 weeks out. After calling over a dozen places one practice directed my to Artisan dentistry who had a last minute opening and got me in within an hour. Took 5 minutes for them to have the inlay re cemented perfectly. They also accepted my MetLife insurance so I only had to pay ~$50 for the ~$250 in fees Staff and facilities were top notch as well, would highly recommend!!! read more

I have finally found a dentist! Most of them are like used car salesmen (at least that's how I feel). But Darcy and her team at Artisan are great. After I did a consultation a with another place and was told I need a root canal after the other dentist looked at it for literally 10 seconds. I decided to message Artisan, and Darcy emailed me back quickly (don't have an exact time but it was within the business day). She answered all of my questions over several emails and told me to come in so she could take a look at it. Darcy looked at it, explained what my options were, what my prices for those options were and fixed my tooth without having to get a root canal. Her and her staff were welcoming, they were helpful, were knowledgeable, and most importantly good at their jobs. Great with the needle, couldn't feel a thing, great with the drill to clean up the chipped tooth before building it up. Then showed me the picture of the fixed tooth. Mostly it was nice because she was cognizant that dental work costs money, she outlined why she tried to save the tooth and wanted to prevent a root canal if at all possible and how the money could go to fixing other teeth. Really was refreshing hearing her talk about dental work from what seemed like a patient's perspective. Andrea and Darcy both worked on my tooth and were both great. Wow, what a great experience at the dentist!! That was the most relaxing I've ever been when getting a filling done. Dr. Evan took his time and I didn't even feel the shot. I have been coming here for a while now and this has definitely been my favorite dental office my whole life. All of the staff here is wonderful and very friendly. They are very professional, organized, truthful and amazing at what they do. I've gotten multiple cavity fillings here, cleanings, and other work with root canal, crown, and referrals from Dr. Kasner. I used to see Dr. Ditrano in this office. When he retired I continued being a patient. Each and ever time I go for a simple cleaning I get pestered about taking X-rays. I don't get cavities. I don't need them each year or even every other year. One of the staff actually told me they "legally have to do X-rays", which is a complete and total lie. If you don't mind being a tool and getting treatments you don't need, then this is a great dentist. If you actually want to control your medical choices and not be forced into care you don't need go somewhere else. Most people won't need X-rays. Most people don't need a cleaning every 6 months/year. It's time to stand up to the doctor/insurance scam. They don't care about you. They care about making money. read more

I first saw Dr. Kasner for a cleaning back in July, after having had the same dentist (in a different state) from age 8 to age 32. The cleaning was great and she and her staff were super friendly and accommodating, so I was like, "Cool, I'm gonna go back to this dentist again." Flash forward to a few months later, when I was in a bad bike accident that fractured my maxilla (upper jaw) and badly damaged several of my teeth (like almost broke them off). I contacted Dr. Kasner's emergency line and she immediately got in touch with me (after hours, no less) to have me seen at her office the next day. She quickly referred me out to a couple of other doctors for additional specialist care and has been really attentive and kind throughout the whole process (and let me tell you, it has been a PROCESS). I feel like Dr. Kasner is genuinely interested in cultivating lasting relationships with her patients - you will definitely not just be a number at her office. She is very warm and friendly and treats her patients like friends, as do the rest of the staff at Artisan. I've been through so many dental practices that felt like I was being passed around from associate to associate. Everyone at this office is amazing. It truly feels like home here. Not to mention, most importantly...they do an amazing job on your teeth! I'm never disappointed with anyone I get! The front desk/insurance gals are great, along with the dental assistants, and the doctors themselves. I'll wait a year in advance just to go here and no where else. I remember Dr. Park telling me my teeth may be a little tender or sensitive after she worked so hard on my teeth for hours, but I felt totally normal the next day! Today was my second visit to Dr. Kasners office and I have to say it was better then the first time and by that I mean she just keeps getting better and better. You want a dentist to treat you well, and she is the real deal in that area. The doctor and her team treated me like family and made me feel comfortable by providing a comfortable leather exam chair to asking me if I like the music and if would like the music volume turn up to hear. She actually song UB40, which was hilarious! I very much appreciate Dr. Kasner and her team and I recommend her as a lifetime dentist. I know I will not be switching anytime soon. When finding a dentist I don't really put a whole lot of work in finding a place, I just jump on my insurances' website and find one in network. Find this place and said why not, can't be bad. Well if my luck would have it I picked a damn good place! The staff is extremely nice, they care about your health, and very very personable. I never really cared for my previous dentists, nothing wrong with them but this place goes above and beyond when it comes to their patients. I now am excited when I have cleanings or anything dental related. Because of the high level of care they provide they dropped my insurance for reasons of wanting them to use cheaper products, I happily switched my carrier to something they take in order to continue seeing them. I really really don't like dentists. Not the people, but their vocation. I have been having mouth pain for a long while and have been avoiding going to the dentist for awhile until my pain increased.
