This restaurant was recommended to me, but I wouldn't recommend it after going there. The server never introduced herself when first coming to my table and never came back to check with me after being served. I tried a burger that was noted on their menu as "award winning "... but I was very disappointed! It was so chewy and so overdone that there was absolutely no flavor. What a great local place to stop in for dinner at. We had the fried pickles for a starter, they arrived piping hot and battered in cornmeal. Just what we had a hankering for. OMG, if you're a burger fan you must get the pimento cheese burger. This burger was hands down one of my top 10. The guy next to us ordered the catfish and I was immediately having food envy. We dined for a late lunch on Monday, Aug 4. We both ordered salads. My salad had a generous portion of a variety of greens, grilled chicken, 6 cherry tomatoes, 1hard boiled egg in halves, sliced red onions ( I forgot to say no onions) , cucumber slices and 2 -1/4 cup containers of ranch dressing on the side. My husband had basically the same with the buffalo chicken salad. Service, plating, and even the wait was great. Only wish we had table knives to cut our bites a tiny bit smaller, for these mid-70's yo guests. Looking around, it looks like only folks ordering a hamburger or a sandwich get a knife. read more

The service was great but some of the food has changed. NO! They gave queso instead of salsa with the chips with shrimp tacos, which is fine but when we asked for salsa (that I liked a lot) is no more. WHAT? No salsa???!! Are you kidding me? Only pico de gallo is available now. Not cool! Also the shrimp tacos were not the same, less shrimp and more other stuff on it than before. The Southwest wrap had cold, plain chicken & wasn't seasoned as the menu said so they had to take it back and redo it. Also when you say Southwest-it should have some black beans and corn added whether it's a wrap or a salad IMO. We've always loved the food but NOT today as much! Get it together Artisan! We waited to be seated much longer than we should have. At least five employees saw us but not one said a word...not a "Be with you in a moment"... nothing. When we were seated, I asked the server to describe the specials (non menu items) and she couldn't. Another server took our order. She interrupted me while I was ordering, so I know she didn't get my salad order. She leaned in toward my husband as he ordered, as if she couldn't hear him, and then just leaned down onto the table in front of me with her elbows on the table. He ordered a burger and asked for no pickles. A few minutes later the server asked what dressing I wanted...I had told her but that's when she had interrupted and talked over me. When our food arrived, I asked for Worcestershire sauce and she left. Then my husband discovered his burger was served with no toppings at all, but our server didn't return for over five minutes or more. By the time she did finally bring toppings, his burger was cold. Our table was lined up so my seat faced directly into their kitchen door. Every time the door swung open, all I could see was three large trash can overflowing into the floor. Very unappetizing! The food was average, my steak had zero flavor. The side of loaded mashed potatoes was a tiny portion with more green onions than anything. They garlic bread was chewy like it had been microwaved. My husband's burger was cold and the Mac and cheese was watery. There were so many employees wandering all throughout, I don't think they had a certain section of the restaurant assigned to them. Maybe why our server was always out of sight. No one who appeared to be a manager on duty. The place is always so poorly run and the food is so mediocre, I don't know how they continue to stay in business. read more

My sister, my daughter and I are visiting the area and stumbled on to this restaurant today. What a wonderful find! A wrap, catfish, and chicken strips were the choices we made from a good size menu. Everything, including fries, fried okra, and chicken enchilada soup were excellent. And as we left we saw wonderful looking slices of cake. Ok, here is my review- I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy sandwich. The roll is soft, fresh and toasted to perfection. I had to take off several shrimp because the sandwich was stuffed full of them (great problem to have). The shrimp was just battered and fried, perfectly. A light siraccha sauce to give it a bite, but not over power the star of the show, the Shrimp! Fresh lettuce, red onions and pickles. Absolutely delicious! Topped it off with their famous maple bourbon fries- out of this world. Great dinner! read more

The Artisan is a class operation owned and operated by the Brewer family. They have worked hard to establish a consistent, quality dining experience. They listen to their customers and have expanded and evolved the restaurant since they opened. They don't just specialize in a few dishes. Their menu has something for everyone. Their Cajun catfish is great. The Chicken Parm is as good as some I've had in Chicago. The Southwest burger is tasty ( get extra napkins). All of the pasta dishes are great. My son and I went here at about 2:30 pm on a weekday. The place was pretty empty and the food was really good. But when we went last night it was packed. The waitress was new and notified us that the chefs were making our order. After 45 minutes, the waitress advised us that she had failed to turn in the order. On her first day she didn't turn in the order? Why couldn't she just tell us instead of telling us they were preparing it. I had suspected as much. Folks who came after us had finished and were leaving. At the one hour point, the waitress admitted that she had failed to turn in the order. Anticipating a bad reaction, the manager was standing by to tell us they could make it right away. But we'd decided to leave. It was so loud, we could hardly hear her. She was crying according to the ex but I saw no tears. We were not comped for the one appetizer and the drinks. I can't recommend it because it was a total fail. read more

We've been here 6 times. Having worked (bartender, wait staff) in restaurants, I'm relatively forgiving....except when it comes to cleanliness. Last time we ate here, the waitress handled money, then handled our plates. On top of it, she told us the wait staff makes our salads - yuck. I had an upset stomach (I'll spare you the details) for a week after eating here last time. Could have been her, could have been the food - I don't know. We stopped in here on our way through to GA. The exterior is rough looking. It looks more like a retail store space than anything else. I never would have imagined they had food like this inside. I ordered the grilled cheese for my kids, the St Louis ribs for myself and my hubby ordered the Prime Rib Sammy. My meal came with a salad and a side. I wasn't expecting a salad this pretty! It tasted as good as it looks in my picture. So, nutty gritty--Country music, not too loud. Lots of TVs-8 in the room we sat in. Looks like a great place to watch sports. Service? Fast. Courteous. Felt welcome. Clean dishes. Clean bathroom. Definitely small town feel to the place. GREAT FOOD. The ribs were fall off the bone. The grilled cheese was perfect (I tried a little to see, kids can't be trusted) and the prime rib was to die for. This place gets crowded for a reason. I would eat here again. read more

Outstanding. It's easy to meet miss (they are moving to a new location soon). Signage poor. We had a VERY friendly waitress who gave us ideas for where to visit nearby. She also gave us directions and went to Google to find out drive time. The food selection was very large. Four of us got different choices and we all loved them. Great appetizers. I visited Artisan's with 9 of my friends. I personally did not enjoy my experience at Artisan. I ordered the ribs which were absolutely inedible. They arrived 15 minutes after everyone else's food. They appeared to be undercooked though the restaurant said that they cooked for four hours. I tried one bite which was rubbery and extremely unappetizing. The server waiting on us relayed the information to the Kitchen which only responded by saying that "they had been cooking for 4 hours". There wont be anymore visits to Artisan in my future. read more

What a pleasant surprise!! The menu had a great selection, but not too big. I personally would rather have quality over quantity! I had the chicken Florentine with the soup of the day and the chocolate lava cake with ice cream. Whew!! I went in starving;) Everything was DELICIOUS! And our server was sweet and quick. The place was hopping at 2:15 on a Saturday! I think a good sign:) Every sport on the TVs, and another favorite part.... soooo clean!! All around a good experience.
