I told her upfront before she started her "estimate" of a very small condo unit (650 square ft) that I was unemployed and did not know if I would be able to retain her (I got laid off the day before) She acknowledged that and charged $250 for a 1/2 hour estimate. She said $180 would go to the project if I was to hire her. I told her I wouldn't be able to hire her until I got a job and asked her how we were going to handle the estimate. She never got back to me and simply cashed my check. Her half hours worth of ideas weren't worth $250. Good grief. Most contractors don't charge for the estimate. I'll never hire her. Yikes. Don't use Artist's Touch. I used Artist's Touch a few times, ignoring the negative issues on each because I thought they were unlucky one-offs or my misunderstandings -- that was a mistake. Reading through the other reviews I now see many people have had the same problems. In their last job, I had to fire them 75% the way through and just pay them the square footage percentage they'd done. Surprise extra charges. Like others here, in 2 jobs they added costs towards the end with vague accounting and math. My partner and I are happy to pay for change-order work, but AT seems to just "plus up the job by a $1k-$5k" towards the end, without warning or clear math, and won't finish unless you pay them. I work with numbers and accounting for a living, and when asked what the extra charges were for, I repeatedly got word salads. If we had asked for more to be done, or there was a big unforeseen issue that we agreed on, then we would be happy to pay more. I've managed a lot of constructionjobs, things happen. With AT, it was not normal at all. The first time I ignored it. The second time I said "enough". Quality of work. Like others, the first time they did an exterior job and the paint started pealing off immediately. AT blamed the house. I took them at their word... until they did another interior job where the work was sloppy -- looking like college students had done it with the previous paint showing through -- with me having to hire another contractor to re-do it. The exterior was repainted by another contractor and it's fine. When I finally fired Artist's Touch in the last job, I got a bill while I was away. When I got back I calculated the square footage myself, agreed with the bill and paid it in less than 30 days. It turns out that AT filed a lean on me in less than 30 days after billing which has gummed up my credit record. I've had to file against Artist's Touch with the Better Business Bureau. My advice -- do not use them. You will likely regret it. read more

Terra was referred to me for color consulting and painting of our condo. During the 2+ hr consult, it was obvious that she knew colors. She suggested some "wow factor" colors to separate the entry/office and kitchen areas of the condo. For the paint job I explained that we wanted to do all of the prep work (wash & lightly sand all molding, repair all major wall defects, move all our furniture) in order to save the most money. She gave me a quote that clearly stated our prep responsibilities and her best estimate of what the final supply costs of paint would be. The job was completed only a day longer than expected, likely due to the excellent attention to detail that Victor, the lead painter on the crew, gave to our job. When they left, she told me to live with it a week, look for anything they missed, and then they would return and send the final invoice. As hard as I tried, there was nothing I could find! I truly have never seen lines between ceiling and wall, or wall and moulding colors more straight - Thank you Victor! Our place looks absolutely fabulous and actually larger, thanks to her ideas of how to use different colors to separate the entry & kitchen from the living areas - and the deep lux navy/bold blue for the kitchen is exactly the wow factor we were looking for! The final invoice came in and it was actually about $23.00 less in supplies than the estimate! I could not be happier with Terra and Victor and the rest of her crew. Terra was brilliant in working with me in picking and changing colors and using advanced French paper techniques to bring exquisite old world stucco yet modern metallic texture to the table. I had a bad experience with Artist Touch Painting. I hired them to repaint the exteroir of my house. The crew was inexperienced, lacked proper tools and supplies, and had poor attention to detail. The prep work was done poorly, the painting was unprofessional and sloppy, and the final cost was much higher than the original estimate. This turned out to be a very expensive, mediocre paint job. Artist touch painting is the best painting service around. Terra has given color consults and her staff has painted 5 rooms on two of our properties. These have been big jobs. She turned a storage room into a cozy wine cellar, our media room from a drab mustard to a rich and vibrant burnt orange, she also painted our staircase and made our old house look like new again. She came to my new building and helped choose a soft, warm gray in a 700 square foot room that has 12 foot high ceilings, she has a true gift with color obviously as everyone mentions the soft tone on the walls. Sadly, our experience was not good, and cost us thousands more than it was supposed to. We hired Terra and her guys to paint the exterior of our house, and part of our siding was vinyl. Terra confirmed vinyl safe paints were available and would be used. The first hit was the bill - $2500 more than her bid. Then, almost immediately after painting, the siding started to buckle and bow, and even pop off the house. The paint manufacturer honorably coughed up 10K to cover some of the damages, but long story short, we paid Artists Touch over $7K, and it cost us an additional $8300 (over and above what the paint company chipped in) to finish repairing our house and have it painted again, which Terra refused to do once we resided. Terra felt that the $ we got from the manufacturer should have satisfied us. So, we were NOT satisfied with her work and not at all satisfied with her customer service. I had a horrible experience with Artist Touch. I hired them to paint one average size room. I received a quote from Terra, sadly, she increased the price after the job was completed. I specifically asked her not go over the estimate. She hired three "painters". They appeared to have no experience, worked and very slowly. They took nine hours (x 3 workers) to complete the job. Terra charged me by the hour, and also charged me for the time they took to have lunch and breaks. One of the painters went to the store to pick up paint and took 2 hours! We tried to talk to her about the increase in the cost she yelled, "give me my money!" I tried to calm her down and was shocked to be spoken to in such a rude manner. Terra does not have good people (or business) skills. We paid her and we will never be back. I would stay far away from the company and the stress of dealing with Terra.
