VERY LONG BUT PLEASE READ!!!!!!! I had my appointment at 12:25 this week for a perm and when i walked in i was told my stylist was running a half hour behind. That was not a problem because i know things happen so i happily waited for her to finish with one of her clients. When she was done she took me back to clarify my hair and then start me in the rollers. She was working on another client of hers simultaneously which also wasn't an issue. Once she got back to me she went to put the solution on my hair and some of my hair was dry from sitting there for so long. I had to remind her to wet my hair again because you can't put perm on dry hair. (Something the stylist herself had told me) She misted me with a water bottle and put the perm in my hair. She then walked over to finish toning and blowing out her other guest. Which i would estimate took about 20-30 minutes because the client had long hair. (Which after i consulted with other stylists was told the perm is only supposed to stay on your head for 20 minutes MAX and that 20 minutes is for girls with long hair that doesn't hold a curl. They all collectively said that it should not have been left in my hair for more than 10 minutes) I was then brought back to wash the perm out and was told the perm didn't hold. I was disappointed because i had been at the salon for going on 3 hours for what was supposed to be an estimated 1 1/2 hour appointment but i knew there was nothing i could do. I then hear my stylist say "Oh my god" which is never a good thing. She asks me if i ever bleached my hair before. I said yeah a couple months ago. She then tells me that if she would have known that my hair had been bleached or if she didn't think my hair could handle a perm she would have never performed the service on me. But my thing is she didn't do a consultation with me. She didn't touch my hair or ask my hair history at all. She just told me to follow her and started the service. She also said my hair didn't look like it had been bleached. That's because i get trims regularly and take great care of my hair. Now at this point she says my hair is extremely damaged. The other stylist comes over and is touching it and i'm now crying. i spent the last two years growing my hair out to one length and getting it healthy. She tried conditioning it and combing through it to see if she can revive it at all. Which wouldn't have helped anyway because she didn't let the conditioner sit in my hair. She tells me she's gonna have to cut a lot of my hair I tell her absolutely not. My hair is about collarbone length and i am not willing to cut it any shorter. she takes me to her chair and she starts blow drying my hair and when i look in the mirror my hair looks like matted silly string. she offers to cut me bangs, which at first i refused but then i gave in due to me not having really any choice because my hair was breaking off so badly. I left there in a rats nest because i was going to do a hair mask mixed with semi permanent hair dye in it (just a color deposit no other chemicals) when i got home. It was almost 5:00 when i walked out of the salon. THE ESTIMATED TIME WAS AN HOUR AND A HALF AND I WAS THERE 4 1/2 HOURS. She gave me a free product and deeply apologized and offered for me to come in for conditioning treatments and trims and also i did not pay for the service. I ended up going to cosmoprof and getting $140 worth of product to try to save my hair. It has been a couple days since the service and my hair is so elastic, breaking off and now it's breaking off in the front of my scalp where my hair line is DOWN TO THE ROOT! IT FEELS LIKE A BUZZ CUT IN THAT SPOT. My birthday is next week and all i wanted was to have nice wavy hair for my trip for my birthday and i'm left with hair that may be beyond repair. Bottom line. I HIGHLY DO NOT recommend this salon. I ended up paying $140 to get products for my hair over a $55 perm. There was no consultation, she was obviously very behind on her day and rushing around and unfocused and now i am suffering because of it. (ps i would also like to mention the stylist i had told me she's been doing hair for 10 years) read more

Been here a few times and it's disappointing every time. The owner brings her problems into the environment and it gets old listening to her rant. I don't recommend going here for a hair cut. The ladies here need some more training!!!!! read more

This salon is the best in the area. The ladies do a great job and they are willing to listen to what you want and give suggestions if what you want isn't possible (Hey- we can't all look like Jennifer Aniston!). Their deals can't be beat and customer service is off the hook! Lounge is a perfect word for this place because I always feel so relaxed when I go here! read more

I booked an online appointment for Artistic Hair Lounge quite at the last minute this morning (A+ for having Sunday hours!) for a cut and color. I chose this place because both my husband and son have been there and they were quite pleased with the haircuts they got. When I arrived, I immediately felt welcome and very comfortable. Katherine is so nice! Turns out we live in the same neighborhood. Katherine was professional, understood what my hair objective was and did a wonderful job. My hair feels great, looks brand new and fresh. Conversation was warm and friendly. It's great to have a true local business like this one in the Stop and Shop plaza.
