Absolutely epic play structure located at Seattle Center. My kids could play here for hours! The Artists at Play playground is both an art installation and a play structure. This thing towers in comparison to most playgrounds. Beware- it's not your average climbing structure. Make sure to help your kids or watch them closely. Some other parts of the play area seemed broken, like a musical-type plaything, and a weird pit with gravel in it that seemed unfinished. These didn't really impact our experience too much though. Overall, a very cool playground in a safe and clean area. Lots of do around Seattle Center too, so you'll be busy before, during, and after your visit to Artists at Play! read more

Amazing playground. We came during the cold month of December and so many kids were out here having fun. My daughter who is 4.5 years old thoroughly enjoyed this playground. The museum Nextdoor has a cafe on the lower level where you can get drinks, food, and use the bathroom. The armory is also not too far away. read more

This is a pretty nice playground right next to MoPop. It was a great spot for my son to get some energy out before MoPop opened. The large play structure is nice and the swings are good. I like that there is an accessible merry-go-round, however it was almost impossible to spin it when we were there because it felt like it was stuck or something. The large chimes are very cool too, although a few were broken. Overall, a nice play area if you are in Seattle Center with kids. read more

My kids love this play area. Located right by the Space Needle and Seattle Center Armory. The kids love climbing the ropes here, going down the slides, and going on the swing. Me? I enjoy the background views of the Space Needle and the MPOP. I just wish there was more seating around here. Lots of parents just standing around making sure their kids don't hurt themselves while climbing. Great place to kill time and let the kids use up all their energy. read more

On two separate visits to Seattle 2 years apart from each other, Artists at Play is still my kiddos favorite park. I love that this park has something from the little ones (at least 5 years old) but also the older kids as well. Which honestly helps older kids still have something to look forward to and some good outdoor old fashion play time. So I truly appreciate Seattle for creating such a wonderful play area for kids. Lots of climbing and long slides. I wished they had something like this when I was younger. Its super close by to the Space Needle & Museum of Pop Culture. It has a good shaded area for parents to sit. Very clean play area. There are public paid parking nearby. You can also take the monorail and walk over here. Highest Slides in Washington State! But is it the best playground? Not exactly. The playground infrastructure is geared more towards kids older than 5,but that didn't stop me. I went up to the top with my 3 year old. Check out my videos attached to this review. The ladder is enclosed so just go right behind younger children and you can enjoy the very tall slides! The playground has swings but lacks play amenities compared to amazing parks like Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park Playground. There are bathrooms in the building just North of the playground. And it does have swings, just not quite as much going on as some of the other amazing parks around Washington. A parking lot is located next to the park although it isn't cheap, you will spend over $15 for 2 or more hours. All in all, this park is worth a visit, I just only go when I take my 3 year old son to the Seattle Children's Museum right next to it. read more

I love that there's a place for kids to run around at SeattleCenter. If you are a tourist trying to jam pack your day with other museums in the area, it's nice to be able to take a break and let your kids run around. My only gripe is that they have a very small structure for much younger kids (toddler sized), and then it ramps up to a pretty intimidating looking, much much larger structure for older kids. read more

Top 5 playground of my kindergarteners life: has climbing, huge slide, lots of spinning, and swings. Great for tourists with 4yo and up. Right next to space needle, museum of pop, and children's museum. (all of which have free public restrooms). Plenty of bench seating around the free public playground for parents to watch the kiddos get their fun in and energy out. Psa: Feels like it's a lot of older kids favorites too because we saw a lot of 6th graders and junior highers taking recess there. Some were not as careful around the younger ones while climbing. Daughter was climbing pretty high up and an older kid stepped on the rope causing the rope my daughter was holding onto to slack causing daughter to drop. Luckily daughter caught the next rope, held on, and swung to safety. Be ready for heart palpatations. Also be careful with the disabled swing, not sure how safe it is due to older kids' abuse of it. I saw so many bang their heads everywhere and even fall out of the seat because they were pushing it so hard. read more

This is the playground. I wish I had as a kid! This place is so much fun. I was able to indulge my own inner child, something that I'm rarely inspired to do. It was fun watching the grands run around and have fun. I wish we had something like this in the Bay Area. I did the labyrinth and thought that I'd have to stop, but there was so much to keep them busy, that I was able to finish it. I'll post more pictures at some point, but being outside with all of that joy was a blast, and I'd come here just for myself. I'd like to take a tram ride and go up the Space Needle. Standing on the mounds was fun too, I wonder what the history behind them is. This is a place for kids of all ages. read more

Located near the Museum of Pop Culture and the Space Needle, it's easy to miss due to all the iconic Seattle spots nearby. However, if you have young kids, please don't miss it. The playground itself is big with a 30-foot climbing tower, two large slides, swings, music-making machines, a labyrinth and more. A few things to note: 1) Shade: There are several benches under the shade. It usually doesn't matter in a city with lots of rain, but in July and August, it does. 2) Hand sanitizer: During the pandemic, most people follow the rules of masking, including young kids. There are hand washing stations and hand sanitizer throughout the playground. 3) Confidence-building: The 30-foot climbing tower looks daunting, but it helped build climbing skills and confidence in my four-year-old daughter. Came here with the kids and they had lots of fun climbing the webbing and sliding on the big slides. Lots of space to run around, do a maze, play musical instruments, swing, and get your energy out. It's a nice place to kill time while sightseeing as well, in a prime location right near the space needle and monorail. There are a few things the planners could do to enhance the space, like cutting down on the concrete and planting more trees. But we are glad we stopped by and would do it again. read more

One of my favorite playgrounds for kids ages 3 upwards. The climbing structure is the best part of the playground - all with the views of the Space Needle and MoPop. In summer it's even more fun as it's a 3 minute walk to the International Fountain where kids and adults alike can cool off in the water during the summertime as there isn't much shade at all in the playground. Public bathrooms are next door in the Armory. It's all paid parking being next to a major tourist attraction but if you pay street park it's a lot cheaper than the paid parking lots. read more

This play ground is amazing. It was definitely on my bucket list and I'm so glad I got to bring my grandson here. So much for children to explore and do, play and make new friends. It does get busy with lots of children and out of towers. Tip. Put bright colors on your children so you can spot them right away. Back again for a second time, grandson had an awesome time with all the different activities that they have here. so we brought him again so he can play because there is so much to do. It's free playground and has very tall long slides which is good for older kids; however, it can be dangerous as it's so crowded near the top. Other than the tall structure slide, there isn't much thing at this playground. It's free but the parking can be expensive (paid $60 for garage parking). I don't mind coming back here again if we are around the area but it's not worth driving just for this. read more

My girls and I have been to this park a lot of times, and it is the kids favorite park! I have to say I was impressed with the park as well. Two huge tube slides are bound to capture a few little dare devils' attention. The long straight slide is 52-feet long; the curly slide is about 38-feet long. (Psssst... Rumor has it that the curly slide is a little scary!). But to slide down, first kiddos have to climb up, either through a spider web of ropes or up that tall climbing tower. And then it's a matter of crossing swaying bridges high above the ground. After that, it's a hair-raising ride back down. Or for those kiddos who aren't afraid of heights, think of the view they get of EMP and the surrounding Seattle Center. The playground has several attractions that make music as the kids play. A 30-foot Climbing Tower, recommended for children ages 5 to 12. Child-inspired musical instruments, listening stations, sound swings, and the Merry-Go-Round made me wish I was 8 again! It is safe and fun and I haven't seen one as good as this. There is a smaller play structure for the younger set. And while the bigger climbing tower and slides are recommended for children ages 5 and up, parents should use their own judgment as to how much of the playground their child can handle. Right in the heart of Seattle Center. This playground is really a great place for children and adult alike. It is also walking distance to EMP Museum, Space Needle and Pacific Science Center. So you can hit all those places in one trip. There is plenty of seating for parents around the park. If you do not live near the Seattle Center area, your biggest cost getting to this park will be transportation. You can take public transportation, or drive in and pay for parking. Bring a towel and extra clothes for water play if you plan to let your kids enjoy playing in the Fountain nearby. Splashing in the International Fountain is a can't miss activity on a warm day. My kids have officially sanctioned this playground their favorite one, and they have been to quite a few. I think it's really the height of the climbing structure that makes this park fun for kids that are getting a little older. I love it because there are so many other things to do in the area that I can turn it into a outing that they will remember, and not spend a fortune for all that fun! We love to visit this playground when it's not too busy. The design of the structure is great, although for a 5-6 year old who is skilled at climbing still had trouble reaching from rung to rung in order to get to the top. The kids love the merry go round that's flush to the ground so if someone falls off, they don't get drug underneath it. The scenery is beautiful, next to the Space Needle and Seattle Center and the padded flooring is helpful for the occasional fall. Our kids would have loved to have more swings than just the three there, and when it's crowded it's extremely hard to keep track of your kids. But overall, a unique and fun place to play! read more

Wow this playground is amazing. I've been living in Seattle for about 7 years now and never have seen a park like this. It is beautiful and has all the fun packed into a playground. They have a slide that is super tall and kids can climb on top. They also have a toddler area where kids can go down this small tube slide. I just love this park because it is near all the major museums and food places. Right next door is the armory where there are a bunch of food selections for your family. This is a great tourist attraction and a fun place for locals. Parking is expensive though. We paid $12 for 2 hours. There is a lot nearby that is $3 an hour. Park there, it is much more affordable than $6 an hour. read more

This is pretty darn cool. It's a free playground outside of the MoPop for anyone to walk up and play on (adults too, if so inclined). There are all kinds of intricate things for you climb, swing, twirl, and jump on. Very sturdy and mostly safe if you're holding on. This playground is totally awesome! The backdrop is amazing (behind the Space Needle and the MoPop.) It has so many different features for kids of all ages and ability levels. I love the musical play options. The area with the pebbles and hanging disks is really cool! The TALL slides are the main attraction. I went down it once with my kid and definitely got a friction burn on my elbow from flying down that thing so fast! I wish that there was something in between the small toddler playground and the "big kids" playground. The small slide was much too small for my child, but she's not able to climb the rope up to the big slides yet. (I had to climb up carrying her in my Ergobaby.) Such a fun place with unique features! We went back the next day because we loved it so much! read more

Then we ran to the ONE swing cause some little kid finally got off and a mom gets to it first and places her like 5 year old on it when there was a perfectly fine swing for little kids. We went here twice on our trip to seattle. My kids loved it so much. The first day they were all wearing yellow shirts, so it was easy to find them, the second day they were all wearing different colors, so it was a little harder to spot them. There are a lot of kids here and I mean a lot. Most parents were watching their kids, or playing with them like we were. All of the kids the 2 days we went seemed to be having a good time and almost all were waiting for their turn and not rushing the smaller kids. I have 4 ages 1-7 and they all loved the slides. The 2 older ones were able to climb the big play area to the big slides and had a blast. The other 2 were content to play at the little kid area and made some new friends. This is a definite stop if you are going to do anything close and have children. My kids are still asking to go back. read more

This is a neat attraction and an added bonus to an area of the Seattle Center that was blah before they installed this great playground. Lots of things to play on and a lot of kids playing. I would say the only area that needs maybe some safety attention of the ropes that go up to the slides...on the very top before climbing on to the slide structures is a bit of a reach for little kids and could end in disaster if not careful. I think some extra netting around the top of the ropes would add to the safety of the play area. But still overall a lot of fun for the little people. read more
