Now I say on weekends because during the week the parking here can be a real hassle with the small lot and super tight spaces along with the lovely charge of $2 to park. Where as on the weekends this station is hardly utilized and the parking is nice and free. As already mentioned by other reviewers, this is also a convenient place to catch a Regional Rail train or a bus if so inclined.

Ironically, I finally got to step foot on the platforms of fair Fern Rock during, and because of, a SEPTA strike. That said, Fern Rock, when fully operational, is quite the place to be. Unlike most other transportation centers, this is where suburban and urban meet via the cris-crossing of the infamous Broad Street sub and the the much tamer Regional Rail trains. Prime-time to go? After dark with the stars out...stand at the top of the steps and look out upon the splendor of the city as the sub cars are lined up to sleep and the distant sound of a train coming rustles through the cool, fall air.

Even the mailman is a big fan! There are so many lovely mosaics and murals in the city of Philly, so it felt especially fun to bring some of that whimsey into the suburbs. She allowed my grandson and other family members to place a tile on the wall, making it even more special. My grandson loves to point out "his leaf" to everyone. Jessica is a talented and committed artist with years of experience. She is friendly, down-to-earth, and easy to work with. Her creations are unique. This mural is part of Mural Arts Philadelphia, which is a program that is managed by the city. You…read morewill find it on the front of the world-famous Max Steaks. It is the work of the late Willis "Nomo" Humphrey and Bryan Martinez who painted the piece in July of 2017. The mural depicts a very realistic portrait of the comedian and actor Kevin Hart (Philly native) smiling with the words "Live", "Laugh", and "Love" in the background. Hart actually grew up a couple of blocks from where the mural is located. I like the art work. It really displays the artists'' skills. It is not on a really good wall and looks like it is starting to fade. The colors are really dull. Parking to get a closer look at this mural is easy. You can try to snag some of the limited street parking or just park in Max's private lot, get out and check out the mural. I will admit that the mural is in a somewhat sketchy neighborhood. Just a heads up. Anyway, as with most murals that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. So, you may want to consider making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip. You could stray by getting one of Max's world-famous cheese steaks.

It is a gem hidden behind stone walls and high greenery. Throughout the year there are tours guided by staff and/or volunteers. The history told and the condition of the home is captivating also very interesting. During several holidays commonly celebrated such as Easter and Christmas they hold an open house with 'free' tours and events. Yes I said the F word, FREE! A week or so before Easter they hold a large Easter egg hunt along with arts and craft activities. My favorite time of the year to visit the Stenton House is Christmas, they a host a 'Holiday Tea'. The tea is delicious, the tea sandwiches are divine and the deserts are beautiful it's all very unforgettable. I would highly suggest you check their website for events, tours or how you can help them to continue to serve the community. The staff and volunteers are so gracious, helpful and welcoming. Please consider Stenton House if you want to see beautiful grounds, learn Philadelphia history or have a spot of tea (in December).
