They don't have to buy anything and so you better kiss their behinds. Even if they don't want anything they might feel bad for you because you were so nice. 2) The prices need to be low enough to justify buying something useless. 3) You have to gave good stuff that people want, though they don't need. Also, it helps to have things that one has never seen before and thus must purchase it because they may never see it again. Well, Scout is a nice enough store. The store sells kitch, curios and art. The inside is nice and bright. There are some interesting items, but nothing that I can't live without. Also, I've seen a lot of the same items around the area. The prices were probably comparable but were still pricey. I don't think there was anything for less than $10 or I didn't find it. I give Scout 3 stars because the lady behind the counter was not very friendly or helpful. When I walked into the store she didn't acknowledge me right away or ask if I needed anything. Instead she just talked to a friend for almost the whole 15 minutes we were in there. I was the first to say hello as I entered. Eventually, she engaged us in conversation a little, but it wasn't the friendliest of conversations. Scout had some unique gift ideas and art pieces. Over all the quality stuff was very expensive. The rest could probably be purchased at other stores of a similar nature. I don't really have a reason to go back here.

It was a fun place. It was a mix between a dollar store type place and a dollar general type store. They had so many adorable items, like those cute pens and pencils and stickers I took a photo of. They had a very small variety of a lot of items, like a dollar store. They only had around three small refrigerated/ freezer areas. They had their isles separated like a dollar store, home items, cleaning items, shelf stable foods drinks and candies, pet items, small child items, craft area, etc.... I found some items I was looking for like sesame seeds and metal chopsticks. We also found items we had been searching for, for over a year, like the peach ice creams. Those the kids had wanted to try for ages. I feel that even though they were expensive, I had seen them for $10 each, and they were around three for $17 here. The space is noticeably bigger than their previous one, which gives them more staging area and space to offer larger pieces of furniture, artwork, and clothing in addition to all the unique goodies they already carried within the store that are smaller scale. Everything here is extremely pricey, which is unfortunate for me given that there are many things I love from here, but I just simply can't justify spending exorbitant amounts of money on these sorts of homegoods and accessories too often. The products they carry are definitely geared towards the more affluent and those with lofty home design ideas, as they also have fabric samples and the like to help you design and customize your furniture and upholstery upon them in the back of the store too. The price tags make sense in the sense that I have not seen any of the products they offer in any other stores in the metro Detroit area, so there's nothing to compare their goods to. This is a great place to window shop or stop in to get inspiration for your home and to pick up a unique piece or two. I'm still thinking about the tatted up Albert Einstein piece of artwork (included in the photos!), which I love so much, but even just the print of it without it framed was already $70-80 and that's a hard price to justify even for hot Albert Einstein! It's *heavy* and should last a long time. We also got a patio set with seats that swivel and rock at a fantastic price, and a couple of medium sized shelving units. The friendly staff recommended snapping pictures of anything I was interested in to show them and get a price. They make great deals when you are buying multiple things. They helped us get everything home and load it into the house and yard. We'll be back when we figure out what we need next.
