It got to the point where my son stop answering her with his words and began using hand signals. During their meet and greet she revealed that she had been a elementary teacher for 8yrs -i cannot understand how. My 9yr old son, who is a people's person with an outdoor personality was very unengaged. She did not capture him in the slightest. She was more interested in using the 45mins they had together to tell him of her trips to Latin America with her family and her love for making music, then to to figure out how to capture my son's attention and keep him engaged. My goodness -I can go on and on about how badly the lesson went. Can you believe this woman began the lesson by yawning and telling my child she was feeling tired from staying up too late the night before RIGHT AFTER my child told her he was feeling EXCITING about starting tutoring. Then she had the audacity to cancel all future appointments with my child at the beginning of their next appointment with NO notice. All of the materials are covered in the fee. This includes the diagnostic tests and weekly worksheets. After each session, he provides a detailed follow-up of what was covered, what the performance was and what is to be completed. All of this is matching the overall customized plan designed by the owner. We contacted other companies and individual tutors but were most impressed with this company. Classes are several weeks long and cost about $1000. I tried them twice, once for an SAT course…read moreand the second time on a GRE course. Both turned out to be a waste of money and time. Both were taught by instructors that pretty much used the book as their guide and provided no extra instruction. More often than not the classes were ended way before the scheduled end time (which meant that I only got 50% of class time for my money. You're much better off just buying the books and taking the online tests than wasting your time and money on these courses. Don't throw your money away on this.

I am currently taking a Kaplan course at FIU. It is very helpful in the way that Kaplan provides…read moreyou with certain strategies and study materials that you would not regularly have access to. In addition, they have great teachers that are willing to help you with any problems you may have. The professor that's teaching my class if very good, friendly and willing to help you whenever you have a problem. No joke, she gives you her cell phone to call her whenever. The study materials are plenty and you'll never run out of practice questions and tests. In fact, I'll probably give away my extra books to students who need them. I have been studying with Kaplan for a little over a month, and I have noticed a substantial increase in my average score -- I was averaging 145 and now I'm up to 155. However, the increase in your average score will depend on how much you're willing to put into the course and time you set aside for studying. Although the study experience is great, the classroom experience is not. Since Kaplan is independent from FIU they switch classes everyday, and you'll always find yourself in a different room with different desks -- tiny desks are a bitch. Also, the rooms are kept below freezing, and I have to bring a parka just to stay warm. I haven't had any other problems besides the situation in the classrooms, though. I definitely recommend this course for anyone who is thinking about taking the LSAT. It will absolutely help you study and raise your average score. If you are going to sign up for the class at FIU, make sure you take it with Deborah Osborn.
