We pay tens of thousands to attend a school that is lacking in sufficient equipment. Don't let them fool you, the school only consists of 2 floors in the entire office building. With very little study spaces compared to the other campuses. Additionally the "simulation labs" are quite lacking. The arms for IV insertions are falling apart and some are unusable. There are only 3 IV pumps that must be spread out through both floors. Attending open lab is a joke since there isn't enough equipment available. Many things broken or used way past their prime. WHERE is our money going? To add insult to injury, the "student events" we receive are a total joke. For Example, Los Angeles campus received a holiday party that was catered with a Crepe station with many toppings and food to choose from. Our school, where we pay the SAME amount, received cookies to "decorate" but NOT eat because the expiration date on the cookie box was 2020!!!! Are you joking? We pay 100k+ and you can't afford some non expired cookies? Our food option was one box of Walmart cookies that were old and stale. It was an absolute joke and just insulting considering there are people going into debt just to be here. DO BETTER !

The conference rooms are fully equipped with chairs, tables, projectors and all the technical system needs to do your presentations. The hallways are decorated with gorgeous art painting. Upon calling in to the clinic before practicum and speaking to Gus, to notify them of running late, they penalized me for arriving 20 minutes behind schedule, with no patients there to be be seen by me, at the clinic. They dis-enrolled me from all classes shortly thereafter. They do not adhere to their own University Student Code of Conduct University when they are to be applied to students. One professor held course assignment/paper for weeks on end, without grading it until the end of the course, preventing me from being able to withdraw/dis-enroll or change status of class. A few minor violations such as being late by a few minutes to momentarily taking an empty thumbdrive to the parking lot before remembering to return it to the clinic, was penalized as major violations during the University's Hearing Proceeding. I was accepted into the Ph.D Clinical Psychology Program in 2015, was promised the the program would begin the next year only to find out it had not been instituted, and then offered acceptance into the PsyD Doctoral program to be told the Doctoral program would ready and I could switch the following year.

I genuinely believe that I missed a bullet; I would never, ever work for them. Being ghosted after multiple interviews and then spoken to dismissively about your qualifications shows a clear lack of professionalism and respect for my time and expertise. Hiring processes should be organized, transparent, and respectful, especially if the company expects top-tier candidates.

Overall, my experience here has been pretty good. If you are motivated and a good self-learner, all the resources are available here for you to get a good medical school education. Pros: -The college offers a decent number of scholarship opportunities, which can greatly soften the financial blow of an MD education. -Many brand new facilities and continued expansion plans for the future means that incoming classes will have great resources to work with. -If you enjoy community medicine and focus on the social aspects of medicine, FIU could be ideal for you. If not, then not so much. Many required courses throughout the 4 years emphasize social determinants of health and service projects in the local community. Cons: -A small chunk of the faculty were trained outside of the US and aren't as great at teaching as others. -Expensive! As an out of state student, the tuition is on par with the highest tuition private institutions such as Harvard Medical School.
