Went in with a lip issue, inflamed and blistered. The doctor said it was 1) lack of vitamin c 2) lack of hydration 3) too much red meat 4) poked it 3 times with a needle to bring "blood' to the area. In extreme pain, can barely eat. This doctor needs to be sued! Went to a new dermatologist that used real science and meds. Much better now. Buyer beware: the poor reviews are for good reason. For starters - they aren't a preferred Provider In-Network for TRICARE which makes you wonder why not. They are often over-booked and even when you show up on time (or early) for an appointment, you end up waiting 45 minutes or more. The main problem I have is their billing and collecting practices which seem shady at best. Before I continue, think about this: there is absolutely NO certification required for someone to be in charge of your bill. No training or professional background to land at the other side of a phone call going over charges. And like many other posts here, I received some of the most arrogant, unreasonable and unprofessional service in my life. I was asked two years ago to sign a form agreeing to pay $50 for cancelling or rescheduling an appointment within 48 hours. I refused to sign because I have had multiple cancellations (by THEM) often the same day. So why should I be penalized for doing the same thing they do? Not only that, but as stated, they overbook so there's no doctor waiting around in an empty office when you reschedule. Far more disturbing (and the final straw for me today) is that I received a new bill with a $32.90 finance charge for a service date of 10/29/18. TRICARE would have normally covered it, but our insurance changed when my husband retired and now there was a new deductible. The thing is, that wasn't discovered by Placer Dermatology until 3/9/19, the same date as this invoice. AND... because they aren't in-network, we're paying $49.54 for coinsurance. Soooo... because there is a $247.72 balance now due as of 3/9/19, I am being charged an additional NON-AGREED to finance charge of $32.90 ON TOP of this bill. No agreement... nothing I signed to... it's a whimsical charge that they made up because the date of service was at the end of October and even though it took them until 3/9/19 to figure out that TRICARE wasn't covering it, I'm supposed to just pay 13.28% to them with no recourse. I asked the billing manger to send me a copy where I signed agreement to pay a finance fee and she refused. And I'm talking an arrogant flat out refusal. She claims it is clearly stated on the invoice that there is a finance fee for balances due. That is not the same thing as an agreed to amount and there is nowhere that I agreed to this charge. Same thing as if I was charged a convenience fee for getting my invoice on blue paper instead of white. Just because they bill it doesn't mean it's valid. She refused to accept payment on the actual invoiced fees and said that my bill is correct and that I owe the entire amount and if I don't pay it will go to collections. I am going to do everything in my power to formally dispute this charge and if this review can help others avoid a similar experience then it's worth every single consonant and vowel. I'm no dummy either... like many of the other posts here, I worked closely with TRICARE and Health Net on the T2017 Project to migrate TRICARE over from United Healthcare and know that this is unethical and wrong. Think about how many elderly people you see sitting in that office who don't know their rights or how to properly dispute charges? There are plenty of other quality providers in our area. After 7 years with five family members and thousands of dollars paid to this business, we are ending this relationship. Update 3/29/19: I've compared by EOBs to the invoices and guess what? The allowed amount for services is paid at the Practioner rate, not the rate for when a Nurse Practioner or Physician's Assistant performed the treatment, which in my daughter's case was every single time. This is 15% more than what TRICARE pays for NP/PAs and after going through all my families EOBs it appears that every single claim shows it was paid at the incorrect Practioner rate! We've only been treated by Dr. Henke himself maybe two or three times in the past 4 years. It has almost always been a PA/NP. This violates TRICARE's policies and as it turns out Medicare has the same policy. Check your EOBs folks! Some of the other reviews on here report the same exact thing. read more

BEWARE PEOPLE. THE WORST most unprofessional inappropriate RUSHED visit ive ever had or seen with any doc in my entire life. Ive been an RN all my adult life. Yeah. THAT awful. ALL ABOUT MONEY!!!!! He bitched at me cause i wanted to be seen by him, as i had scheduled!! I dont know who or what "assistant" is. How dare he. I waited a. HOUR PAST MY APPT TIME. Little man blows in, no apologies and bitching at me. Soent maybe 4 frantic, rushed, weird minutes in room NOT total exam as i had made appt for. Then want to do 6 biopsies. He didnt even tell me that. Gal preparing them did. He told me nothing. NOT what a good doc does. I left at being told 6 biopsies and NO talk. $$$$$. LOTS of ads selling his products. Hes way overbooking, making everyone wait, to make more$$$. He needs to CARE about patients. Obvious he doesnt. I wont go back and will ck to see how much he charged fir next to nothing. So I have gone to Dr. Henke for a couple of years now and find him a fine doctor, however, at this day in time he is refusing to approve one of my medications I have taken for many years. His office said it is unethical to approve this medication and "you are not going to get it." Even though he ordered it for the years of 2015 and 2016 and others before him, it is all of a sudden unethical and instead of my medicine being of benefit of my face, he or his staff now considers it cosmetic since I am over 60. However the staff has something I can purchase in his products that is similar. A clear case of age discrimination to me. The staff says no one over 25 gets it. HELLO!! My insurance company said that they can't approve it until Dr. Henke orders it as medication which it is, and not cosmetic. Funny it changed all of a sudden. This office is messed up. Screwed up my insurance coverage, kept billing me, refused to return calls. Finally sent registered letter saying I'd pay half, never heard back, but they cashed the check. Never saw the Doc, maybe for the best. My advice, go elsewhere. read more

From the moment that I first walked in I was totally impressed. The clinic was beautiful, professional, and clean. The staff was wonderful, and everything/everyone was so professional, and really focused on making me feel well taken care of. I have suffered from terrible acne for most of my early adult life as well as some pretty frustrating eczema that came on with cold weather. Dr. Henke was so pleasant. He listened to me very closely as I told him about my skin problems. He was truthful and honest with me about what was going on with my skin, and he explained to me what he wanted to do to help me, and gave me insight on what my options were for treatment. He was very prompt, professional, and kind. I didn't have to wait long to be seen by him. I was also glad that he was attentive to my needs as a patient, but also was short and to the point in terms of treating me. I have become so sick of my last dermatologist going on and on about my skin. Dr. Henke gave me the truth about the causes and treatments quickly but thoroughly. Probably the most important reason why I am writing this review is because Dr. Henke was so careful in treating me that he has probably saved my life. The first time he saw me, he asked me questions that extended beyond my obvious skin problems. He checked a mole that I had on my back and noticed that it was irregular. Dr. Henke took a skin sample and actually found out that the cells were cancerous. With his help I was able to treat this and have the mole removed before any real damage was done. After being seen by him only a few times, I can already see a huge improvement in my skin problems that have been ailing me for years now. I would definitely, HANDS DOWN recommend going to see Dr. Henke for any skin problems. He's the best doctor I have ever seen and I've been looking for a doctor with his skill and kindness for a long time now. Most dermatologists made me feel like I was wasting their time, but doctor Henke and his staff make me feel like an actual person, whom they want to help. Finally....The BEST Dermatologist ...EVER. Having had many experiences with dermatologists over the years....finding Dr. Henke was a Godsend. He was referred to us by two top Doctors in Roseville ( a Cardiologist and a Oncologists) who only deal with the "best". He has treated both myself and my husband and is completely thorough and precise. We have never had a problem getting in to see him...but always schedule a 6 month recheck. Twice we have had something "appear" .....that we think needed attention.....and the staff gets us in to see him. They are great as well...very helpful and listen to your problem. If you are looking for a "fluff" dermatologists....Dr. Henke is not your guy.....BUT...if you are serious about keeping your skin in great condition, protecting yourself from Melanoma or need things looked at or removed.....you can't do better than Dr. Henke. Quality of this kind is hard to come by in today's world. I truly can't imagine anyone having "issues" with Dr. Henke or his staff....or anything about his practice. I would like to say that PA Samaz is fantastic. Very thorough and professional and the practice is lucky to have her. However, Placer Dermatology simply operates in a very unprofessional manner. I have been a patient at Place Dermatology for nearly 5 years and have only seen the doctor once. I have been very suspicious of the practice because of never seeing the doctor, but after my recent events, I will not return to this practice. I have a top of the line insurance policy, which requires a co-payment at time of service and then percentage-based co-insurance after claim is process. During my January 2019 visit, I had two quite unfavorable experiences. First, when I signed in, I noted on the sign-in sheet that I had new insurance and I also told the front receptionist that I had new insurance. She told me to sit down and she would call me up. I was called in for my exam before I was called back to the reception and when I checked out, I reminded the same receptionist that I had new insurance. She got very upset with for not telling her I had new insurance. I asked her to check her sign in sheet. She ignored this request. The second issue is that I was overcharged for my office visit. The same receptionist told me that since I had a change in insurance, she had to re-compute my fees. She stepped to the back of the office to discuss with another person and when she returned, she took out her calculator and pencil and started adding numbers and writing on a white patient card. She again consulted someone else for information and she calculated again and told me that I owed $495.11 for my visit. When I asked for the breakout of the charges she told me that it was for the exam and that the fees are required at the time of service because I have not met my deductible. I tried to explain that my policy is based on a co-payment for the visit and co-insurance for final billing. She said policy is policy and to avoid a scene, I paid my $495.11 and left. A couple of days later, I called my insurance provider and explained what had happened. My insurance provider graciously offered to call the doctor office and explain to them the process for payment and claims. I spoke to my insurance provider two days later and they told me that the doctor office refused to refund my money until the insurance provider paid the claim. The irony of the issue is that the doctor office had not submitted a claim. I regularly checked the insurance portal and saw that 18 days after my visit, the doctor office had submitted a claim. I called the doctor office and requested the billing department to inquire on status of my refund. I received voice mail, explained the situation about the refund and requested a return call. Two days later, I called again and left a message, again requesting a return call. A week later, I still had not received a call from the billing department, so I called a third time. This time, voice mail was full so I transferred to the front desk and asked for billing. I was finally able to be transferred to someone. When I explained my situation the first response I received was that the insurance company did not contact the doctor office. I tried to dispute this but that was a pointless discussion. I simply asked for my refund and I was told that I would not get my refund until the insurance provider paid the claim. I asked the billing rep why they waited 18 days to submit a claim and I was told that they were busy. I asked if it was fair that I was being held hostage to my refund because they did not have time to submit a claim. The response I got was that she was there alone because her co-worker was out on surgical leave. I told the billing rep that I was coming to the office to pick up my refund and she told me that only the office manager has authority to issue a refund. I asked who, specifically, the office manager was and I was told it is Mrs. Isabelle Henke (the doctor's wife). I asked to speak to Mrs. Henke and I was told she is not in the office and when I asked when she was in, I was told that she may be in next week. I asked to leave a voice mail for Mrs. Henke and I was told that she will only take written messages and it would be passed along to her that I requested a refund but they cannot guarantee when I will receive a refund. The office could not give me any estimate of when I would receive my refund. I have read comments left on Yelp and they are all consistent: patients being charged for fees upfront; voice messages not being returned; unprofessional services; overpayments not returned in a timely manner. I have noticed the multiple reviews on YELP and the majority of reviews are negative and not a single review has been responded to by the doctor's practice. Placer Dermatology and Dr. Henke should be ashamed of the services provided. read more

This is an exceptional doctor and office. I have been going here for over 10 years. My spouse also goes to Dr. Henke's office. They are exceptionally thorough. If you have a problem with the service...just let them know. Very professional and effort to provide exceptional medical service. Dr. Henke removed a pre-melanoma from my face a few weeks ago. The cut was 3" plus. Did I say I was freaked out about the outcome? I had the stitches taken out after a week and within 2 weeks you can't believe that I even had this huge cut on my face. He truely is exceptionally good at his craft. I usually done take the time to right reviews. But not long ago I heard some negative comments about Dr. Henke's office. I was very surprised because my 10 years of many visits and treatment don't warrant a negative comment. This is a extremely good dermatology office. My review does not come after a one time visit; two years ago my husband asked me why I keep going to Placer Dermatology because he thought they were con-artists. Well as the cookie crumbled, I finally came around to fully agree with my husband. The whole goal of this business is to make money off of you, and this is to over-charge by way of unnecessary over-treating; meaning they are more of a money-making business than a medical care provider. I seriously recommend to do all of your research and read all reviews of prior patients first. Listen to what we have to say. If you really have medical skin concerns, then I do not recommend this office.This is not the type of dermatologist office you will walk into feeling assured that you will be taken care of thoroughly. They have retail accessories and all kinds of knickknacks they want to sell you right when you walk into the building. You will feel like they are going to push their Botox services on you while they remove that big mole you've been concerned about (and the 14 other moles that really didn't need to be removed, seriously). The staff are not very bright, so be prepared to deal with ongoing and unresolved difficulties with billing and obtaining prescriptions with incomplete paperwork before they get canceled. I paid this business an undisclosed amount of money just to get rid of this headache and not deal with them anymore...hundreds and hundreds of my own money down the drain. I went to this office for over a year and never saw Dr Henke. After 1 year I still had the original problem I went into the office in the first place, which was a red spot on my face. The nurses I saw did take some biopsies of various areas on my body, that were all negative. I then went to see Dr No in Folsom. On my first visit he biopsied a large freckle on my leg that I have had my whole life. The results came back "almost melanoma". I had surgery this past week. It is very scary to think what may have happened if I had never left Dr Henke's office. Everyone I met at this office was nice, but obviously not skilled enough in detection. If you go for a body skin check insist on seeing the MD. I can not say anything about him since I never met him. read more

First I tried to make an appointment and they asked for my insurance number and they told me someone would get back to me. It was already a month or 2 and still no call from them so I decided to call them back and ask why has no one called they said they are not sure why. We finally had gone to our appointment so the Dr prescribed a antibiotic for my daughter that day so we went to the pharmacy they said the prescription was never sent so I called and left a message with the person in charge of the prescription and no call back again. Two weeks later I called again and they told me that I never gave them the place where we wanted the prescription to be filled. Ok but I did tell them.They couldn't call me and ask me where it should be sent. Having been in and out of dermatologists offices for years, this is the by far the nicest facility I have ever been to. The office is in a convenient location and is very clean and nice. The office staff is exceptionally professional. Dr. Henke is a qualified dermatologist. My most recent visits have been with the physicians assistant, Kehli McCaskill who is wonderful. Spent two hours waiting for my appointment. Waiting room became so crowed that other patients could not sit. Saw several leave in disgust for the wait. As another pointed out, Dr Henke does not spend much time with you.
