More recently, I needed mandibular hardware removed, and Andrea was excellent throughout the process. She helped get everything scheduled quickly, kept things moving, and also helped sort out the billing issues. That made a stressful situation much easier to manage. In addition to the standard costs associated with treatment, I was informed of a $7,500 "surgical planning fee," along with other charges that are not covered by insurance. As a result, my out-of-pocket costs for an otherwise covered jaw surgery would exceed $10,000. None of the other surgeons I consulted with assessed similar fees. I am also disappointed by the delays surrounding my imaging refund. In March, I was advised that the imaging costs would be refunded once the insurance claim was processed. I received confirmation is was processed in April. It is now nearly July, and I have been told that it may take an additional 30 to 45 days to receive reimbursement.

He eased my nerves by simply being kind. When I was moved to operation room he had 2 other staff in there and they were so gentle so sweet. At the first visit I wasn't happy with the front desk girl. I was told that I would have to pay for dental X-rays again since the dental office did not provide sufficient pictures. I wasn't explained why and she just continued to tell me the price. I was a little bit in shock as the dentist office did take pictures. I contacted my dental office and they continued to explain that the X-ray taken was sufficient, but his office requires a full picture including the back of my son's mouth and they don't have the capability to take those pictures. Since he's a specialist (Dr. Esla) he would have the machines to take the proper pictures required to move forward with the extractions. The office is right by MSW. It's nicely decorated inside and it's a lot different than other Doctor's offices I've been to. The walls are painted black and it actually looks nice. Patient rooms are pretty big and the office is on the 2nd floor. All the staff we encountered was super friendly and everyone made my son feel comfortable. Prices were affordable and they offer payment arrangements if you need it. My son said his wisdom teeth extractions weren't painful because he didn't remember it. The process didn't take long at all. I came in at 8 and left about 9:30ish. This office is quiet, they look like they know their regulars. A few patients came in after us and the girls knew them by name so that seemed nice. I called them later after my son's appointment because I forgot to get a note for school and while I was on hold I learned a lot of new things about the doctor. He does a lot of other services to make Bakersfield's people beautiful. I thought that was neat. I would definitely recommend family and friends here. The office doesn't take long at all.
