Normally, I go to my sister's dental office in the Bay Area. Whenever I have a dental emergency in Bakersfield, though, I go to Valley Grace Dental. Their dental office and exam rooms have been very very clean the times that I have visited. All the staff have been friendly, efficient, and professional. This goes for everybody from the front desk staff to the dental hygienists to the dental technicians to the dentist himself. Dr Huang, after taking me as a patient and making my fixed screw retained bridges. I was scheduled to go in for an adjustment because I was having pain. The day before my appointment his front office girl called and informed me that he no longer could help me and I needed to find a different dental office. He excepted my cash payments but never offered a refund for the ill fitting dentures when he refused any further treatment. I was in total disbelief because I had not complained or been a difficult patient, and I had paid cash for all work that was done. He wanted me to pay again for a procedure they did wrong then proceeds to walk out on me as we're discussing how to fix the issue .also the lady in charge of payments doesn't notify you there's a payment due. This business was formerly owned by Dr Peterson who retired. Dr Huang purchased this business. All of Dr Peterson's great dentists left the practice. Unfortunately this place now bills for services that I did not receive. Furthermore, the dentist does minimal dental work. Fillings, crown replacements are performed by dental assistants. Dental hygienist perform the novacaine injections. My last visit the dr did minimal work while the assistants completed the filling and his hygienist injected the novacaine. My mouth was killing me for two weeks after they worked on me. When I returned to receive my crown, the dental assistant said she'd be the one to remove my temporary and apply my new crown. Sorry, but I didn't sign up for this. Accolades to dental assistants for additional training but after my last negative experience im going to take a hard pass. If you prefer a dentist to perform your dental work, look elsewhere. In all fairness, the dr did agree to complete any future work himself. Just heads up as you will be worked on by dental hygienist and dental assistants. Once the crown was completed and at check out I was requested to sign a document noting if I had issues with my crown in the future there would be additional fees charged. That tells me they aren't confident in their work and the bottom line is $. read more

Who likes to go to the dentist? Not me! But I am very impressed with Valley Grace. Dr Huang (sp) is such a gentle soul and I really appreciate his concern for his patients. The dental hygienist, Jasmine, who set my crown today was very professional, explaining every step of the procedure and always asking me if I was comfortable. Even the receptionist and billing manager have been helpful scheduling procedures and providing insurance information that I needed help with. That kind of care hasn't been my typical experience with dentistry and I am thankful for the great care I receive. Appreciate the professionalism! read more

Found this office after some terrible experiences elsewhere. Anyway, on Saturday the wifey was in tremendous pain from a previous dental failure with a cracked tooth. The other dentist told her she needed 3 root canals. Coming here and seeing Dr. SAM, he advised us that it was only one tooth that was cracked and infected. He scheduled her for a couple hours later and completed the work within an hour. The front staff was great, detailed and was able to get us going quickly. Huge relief to know this office is here. I went to this 5 star rated dentist on yelp for a filling that fell out. Everyone in the office was so sweet. I got Dr. Hoang so this review is for that dentist. After seeing the filling Crack and doing the x-rays on just just tooth, Dr. Hoang asked me if I had time to do a full mouth xray. I didn't know we were in a time crunch so I said ok. After the lengthy x-rays, Dr. Hoang quoted me for 2 crowns, a filling, told me I needed to pull both wisdoms tooth because they're pushing onto my other ones, said my gums were inflamed and needed a "deep clean", also stated I had an undetected cavity. Dr. Hoang even said yeah we have time do the crown today and the filling today. When I changed my mind and didn't do the crown he wasn't as happy anymore. All of a sudden they said I don't have time to do my filling same day and said next availability is February. Dishonest... I'm going to get a second and third opinion. Watch out for this when you go to the dentist. I'm dissatisfied they sent me home with a hole in my tooth that could crack. I'm not going to wait until Feb to get that fixed when he told me he had time to do 2 procedures in 1 day then tells me something else when I said I needed time to think about the crowns. Those procedures are invasive so of course I'd think about it. Wish they would tell me I was on a time crunch for the filling and just do that for me instead of pushing other procedures. read more

This review is long overdue. It's difficult to find a good dentist. This place did not fail in disappointing me. The first two times I went here it was just okay. My visits afterwards just went down the hill. I will say the office is fairly nice and clean. The dentist himself seemed kind. I will say I did not appreciate him coming to work in my teeth right after a smoke. He reeked of cigarette while working in my teeth. How unprofessional!! My final straw was that I was charged double for a cleaning and they refused to give me a refund. I had prepaid a cleaning due to a promotion they had going. I happen to acquire dental insurance sometime before my final cleaning that was included on the package I PREPAID!! Only to find out after my final cleaning, they not only kept my money from the prepaid package, but also charged my insurance. When I called the office to inquire why they charged my insurance, whoever I spoke with was beyond rude and did not provide a clear explanation. Cancelled all my families future appts that same day. They will commit straight up fraud, scheduling is a pain, whoever answers their phones is beyond rude, dentist smells like cigarettes. Do with that what you will.
