I met with Margarita, the patient relations coordinator, to go over my treatment plan. When I asked about the cost of anesthesia, she told me she couldn't provide that information without rewriting the entire plan. At that point, I had already been there for over 90 minutes and couldn't stay any longer, so I asked her to find out the cost and call me with the information. She never did. My dentist's office manager followed up with their office on my behalf, but no one could give a clear answer. Margarita was again asked to contact me. I called once more myself and was told she was with a patient. Despite multiple follow-ups, I've never received a response from her. My son was referred out to a oral & facial specialist because his wisdom teeth was impacted and needed to be removed under sedation. At the first visit I wasn't happy with the front desk girl. I was told that I would have to pay for dental X-rays again since the dental office did not provide sufficient pictures. I wasn't explained why and she just continued to tell me the price. I was a little bit in shock as the dentist office did take pictures. I contacted my dental office and they continued to explain that the X-ray taken was sufficient, but his office requires a full picture including the back of my son's mouth and they don't have the capability to take those pictures. Since he's a specialist (Dr. Esla) he would have the machines to take the proper pictures required to move forward with the extractions. The office is right by MSW. It's nicely decorated inside and it's a lot different than other Doctor's offices I've been to. The walls are painted black and it actually looks nice. Patient rooms are pretty big and the office is on the 2nd floor. All the staff we encountered was super friendly and everyone made my son feel comfortable. Prices were affordable and they offer payment arrangements if you need it. My son said his wisdom teeth extractions weren't painful because he didn't remember it. The process didn't take long at all. I came in at 8 and left about 9:30ish. This office is quiet, they look like they know their regulars. A few patients came in after us and the girls knew them by name so that seemed nice. I called them later after my son's appointment because I forgot to get a note for school and while I was on hold I learned a lot of new things about the doctor. He does a lot of other services to make Bakersfield's people beautiful. I thought that was neat. I would definitely recommend family and friends here. The office doesn't take long at all. They do not overbook and they treat the patients nice. The staff also seem happy which is nice to see. When the staff is happy, the patients seem to be happy too. read more

DO NOT even set up an appointment. This is a scam to bill insurance. DO NOT TRUST this business. NOT credible. If I could rate zero stars, I would. They did not disclose that there would be a fee to simply go to their office for a consultation to see IF we even wanted to utilize their services. I now have a balance after they billed my insurance for $131.75 The owner has responded with a generic statement. However, this is not enough. At no time was I informed prior to the end of my "consultation" visit that there would be charges. Had this information been disclosed at the time of setting the appointment, I would not have set it. It is a SCAM to not properly inform prospective patients who may not have an understanding of what's "normal" in your industry. I provide consultation services, as well. My experience at Dr. Alan Elsa's practice has exceeded all expectations! At 32 years of age, I went in for an implant on my front tooth. Since I was 10 I had injured my root on my front tooth and it's always had a darker tint to it. Finally after 20 years my front tooth broke and The only option was an implant. My mother has travelled to Colombia to get her dental Procedures done and I had seen how long her recovery has been as well as the excessive bruising and pain she has endured. I was unfortunately sent here by my regular dentist for an extraction and implant, while struggling to remove my tooth he broke the one behind it in half, no apology, sorry or anything like that just o your crown popped off but no tooth was broke in half. He finished extracting other tooth then sent me back to have my dentist check on broken tooth, there was no saving it so the sent me back same day to have broken tooth extracted, no apology, sorry or anything just a we'll give you a bargain price of $500 to pull the one he broke. I now need 2 implants thanks to him, I'll be finding a more ethical dentist to finish this disaster, I can't warn you off this office any stronger. read more

Excellent experience as far as tooth extractions go. From the initial consultation with Dr Elsa, to have three teeth pulled to the day of the extractions, the experience greatly exceeded my hoped-for expectations. From the office personnel, the techs, to Dr Esla himself, I can't sing their praises enough. My teeth were pulled yesterday, and the pain is minimal and easily controlled with Tylenol, which is already unnecessary. Swelling all but nonexistent, bleeding already 98% gone. My TMJ is worse after my procedure by Dr. Esla than it was before the surgery. I went back to tell him about my concerns, and he simply said, "Go the UCLA or Cedars". The doctor is fine, but his staff and the office management are a joke. I have been waiting for over 7 months without any calls and zero return calls from me calling to ask if they got the approval from my insurance company. No one will call back and when I ask to speak with the office manager I get her voicemail to which she will never respond. I have paid for the x-rays which are now over 7 months old for an implant and extraction. I have called at least 5 times to request an update on when I can get the procedure done. They were trying to schedule me without the second insurance approval and charge me out of pocket when I was double insured. Man oh man! I've been visiting dentists for almost 70 years. Dr Elsa is the best dental specialist I've had. Highly professional, very capable and comforting bedside manner. Works closely with my dentist. Have great confidence when I'm in his chair removing broken teeth and prepping for implants. I got my wisdom teeth out almost 3 days ago at Dr. Alan Esla's office here in town and I just want to say I feel absolutely amazing! They took care of me in every way possible and I can't be more thankful. A week leading up to my appointment I drank lots and lots of pineapple juice and it helped my recovery so much. I have absolutely no bruising or pain. I was prescribed medicine to help with pain and against an infection and I've not had to take any of pain medicine. DO NOT GO HERE!!! This place is a joke! The staff is absolutely inconsistent with it's services, unprofessional and rude! My first few sessions were with an awesome nurse who made me comfortable but she no longer works there. Every interaction with this place since has been horrible. They say one thing and do another. I regret ever recommending them to anyone else. Those friends who did go, already decided on their own not to go back, losing their money on packages rather than come back again. I too am not using the rest of my package because I would rather lose money than ever return or risk my skin with them. Heather, one of the office staff, has been rude to myself, a former nurse and my friends that have gone in independently. I'm not sure this is a legal business as it is not listed with the State of CA or the BBB. They also call this place Rejuvenating Beauty. It's housed in a dental office so not sure how that works but I'm pretty sure if advertised under a business name, that name is supposed to be registered. He took it upon himself to make sure my dentist and his office were coordinated with this last step of my implant. He apologized for the mixup with his office ,and explained his coordinator had been out sick for over 2 weeks. If I could give this office zero stars I would. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. All I did was ask about how much it was going to cost and they billed my insurance for an exam which at the time I wasn't covered 100% for my diagnostic. (by the way the fee for the doctor to walk in and out is about $180) I was already skeptical because some offices will bill they heck out of your insurance to use up all of your maximum for the year that way they can charge you for the remainder and don't have to provide an explanation to your insurance because you have run out of your maximum for the year. When I tried to explain I only wanted a round about number and didn't want to go back they nodded and said oh yea no problem and made me think that they were getting the woman who handles money to give me a write up but had me go back and sit in the chair and considered it an exam after I told the doctor I just wanted to know around how much it would cost which they do this procedure all day long she could've had them do a write up just from the xrays my general dentist sent over. By the way just because your general dentist refers you to somewhere doesn't mean they are a good office. Most of these places send gifts to offices to encourage them to recommend them to patients... Sometimes VERY NICE GIFTS. Overall a really disappointing experience. I don't care about the small deductible I have to pay its the fact that I have grown up in doctors offices both large and small and NEVER have I felt so ripped off and taken advantage of. People aren't aware just think of how many times they've done this and in different ways. Sneaky and immoral. P.S. I got my wisdom teeth removed at another office for LESS than half the price (not at all exaggerating) and the doctor did it easily without even putting me to sleep which is HUGE portion of what they wanted to charge me for. The want to nickel and dime you (except by hundreds of dollars) to pay for their fancy office and the women who handle things in the front and the money (probably not all of them but who I dealt with) are so rude and caddy and VERY unprofessional. Making you comfortable and explaining everything and giving you options NOT ordering what has to be done and taking the time out to explain everything to my understanding. I had a cracked tooth that made the right side of my face swell up so bad it was affecting my sight I couldn't eat and I couldn't sleep I was out of town working and all the dentist I had called in that area had a two-week waiting list luckily I was coming back home in two days so I only had to deal with the pain for two days but then when I got back in to town I went and saw the dentist and everything was better after that. I paid my portion previous to my extraction. The day of the extraction i woke up during the procedure while the dentist had a difficult time taking out the tooth and it was painful and super uncomfortable! After the procedure i over heard the assistants commenting on how she always has trouble with those procedures because she does it wrong. I was sent home and was in pain for weeks while my face was still numb. Its been eight months and now im getting a bill because they state my insurance didn't cover what they thought. There is no way i am paying them more money after that horrible experience and on top of that my chin and lip are still numb and will probably stay like that forever. read more

I was referred here by Dr Thomas D. HALL, Hall of Fame Dentistry.... the very best Dentistry office in Bakersfield. So far Dr Esla, removed a root tip on number 3 and performed a bone graph. The whole procedure was pain less and very comfortable. I will be coming back for 4 implants after my bone graph heals.
