This is my second time coming to this Richardson location. Both times I got the iced Yemeni latte, extra sweet. The drink was pretty good, but the espresso taste could be stronger. What a vibe this place is. Just so beautiful and clean, you felt like you were in an oasis inside a museum walking in. Staff was soft spoken but very kind and friendly. The Black Sesame Honeycomb was such a delight. Warm with an ethereal texture. The Muhamara Flatbread had some nice flavors inside and was good if you need a savory snack. I really liked the sesame cookie. Nice and buttery, great crisp, with an understated sesame flavor. The pistachio cake was exactly what you needed it be. Solid Yemeni cafe. One of the first that opened in DFW and it is a great space to hangout with friends. It can get crowded, but the outdoor seating is a total vibe if the weather is good. The first time I went to a Yemeni tea shop was back in New York, and I enjoyed it so much that I have been looking for a similar experience here. I was excited to find Arwa. They have a solid selection of coffees, but what I came for was the milk tea. The black tea flavor is strong, infused with cardamom and other spices. The prices are very reasonable, with a 12oz starting at $4. The interior of the coffee shop is bright and spacious, with a variety of tables, couches, and a large patio for when the weather is just right. There were people like me and my friend, who were just sitting around and catching up, and there were those who were busy doing work and studying. They do have free wi-fi, and they have a good number of outlets as well. I also tried their pistachio and white chocolate covered dates, which were the perfect sweet treat to go with the milk tea. Overall, I really like this cafe. The tea was phenomenal and the interior is an incredibly nice space. I will be returning to try some of their other pastries and desserts! read more

The baristas are the sweetest! This was my first time at the Richardson location but across all of the locations Arwa always has the kindest employees that make you want to come back. Think cinnamon spice & everything nice... my friend & I were dressed for a rainy day Spring Creek Nature Area walk... but we blended in amongst the beautiful people of varied ages. Such a cute cafe with delicious coffee and treats. This cafe serves Yemeni coffee which I'm trying for the first time. My latte was robust, rich and had the perfect hint of sweetness. I paired my latte with a tea biscuit. Chile when I say this biscuit was so damn good!! The exterior looks hard but once you bite into it, it's soft and bit fluffy. The top of the biscuit has some type of honey and possibly cardamon (I don't even like honey) but it was the perfect pairing on this. Next time I'll try one of the seasonal drinks and cakes that looked delicious! They serve non dairy milk which is great! Seating is left to be desired just because there isn't much seating. So plan to either sit outside, wait for seating or get a pick up order. This place gets packed!! At 2pm on a Saturday, there were lots of people in the cafe so it's definitely a popular place. The staff wasn't the most friendly during my experience. When I asked questions or for a plate since I was sitting in the cafe, I received attitude unwarranted. read more

We need this in Los Angeles! Stumbled upon this gem as a friend highly recommended it! It was a "I have a place in Texas that you don't have in LA, and it's the best". She was right, the teas and coffees are really great! I ordered the sampler which came with 4 drinks and 4 paired pastries and it was wonderful! The tea was incredible. I had to go back 2 days later and get the tea again and I took a jug back to my friend's house so we could have it the morning of before our flight back. The flavors and spices in the tea were so traditional and felt like home, yet so addictive. A place I could see myself going for my morning brew. The interior was so beautiful and well thought out. Perfect for studying and hanging out with friends. The team who manages this place were so kind and patient with my 100 questions. Every single employee was as kind as could be. I felt very welcomed. I'll be honest, not the biggest fan of this place. Temper your expectations for after all the pomp and circumstance, this is a place for those under 25 to meet up in public for minimal cost once it's past 5 pm. The earlier you go in the day, the more likely you'll find a spot to sit, at all. Service here is actually a bit slow, on both ends due to the line to order at most times plus the actual turnover time as well. I'm not sure if it's a staffing issue or just the procedures but compared to other places you'll be standing around for a bit. As for the drinks and desserts, these ranks fairly low in the greater spectrum of Dallas coffeehouses. They make a show of roasting their own beans and mixing their own spices, but at the end of the day you get a product inferior to those who source from one of the popular local roasters. If you're looking for good coffee, it's not here. So where does that leave us? Depends. If you're a young fellow without much money but plenty of time on a Friday night, this is probably already familiar to you. If you're anybody else, you're probably across the square at Big dash already anyway. Either way, you won't be finding me. read more

My friend has been looking for a good study cafe in the area so I decided to join her in checking out Arwa Yemeni cafe since I needed to get some work done over the weekend as well. Overall verdict: This place has potential to be a nice study spot but once it fills with people who are there to socialize/hangout and not necessarily study, it can get pretty noisy which can make it difficult to get work done if you are easily distracted. 3.5/5 FOOD/DRINK I don't have much of a sweet tooth so I played it "safe" and got their standard iced matcha latte. They offer different types of sweetener at an additional cost (vanilla, sugar cane, and sugar-free vanilla if I remember correctly) so I went with the $0.75 vanilla sweetener add on since I wasn't sure how "plain" the matcha latte would taste without it. I personally didn't think there was anything special about their matcha latte and it definitely did not justify a $7.75 price tag (before tax). The last ~1/2-1" of drink left in the cup had a weird aftertaste (hard to describe other than it was slightly....fishy??) and I ended up throwing out the rest of the drink because the aftertaste was so gross. They had a nice selection of bakery goods/pastries/desserts which I would have loved to try but since I had just had lunch, I did not have the appetite for even something to snack on. 4/5 AMBIENCE When I arrived around 1 pm on a Saturday there were a handful of people who were already there doing work on their laptops but it was overall pretty empty and quiet. I picked a table in their partially-enclosed space at the front of the cafe since it had a large floor-to-ceiling glass window that provided excellent natural lighting. The establishment is very clean and tidy (including the bathroom) and also very photogenic with areas of the cafe that make for nice photo ops. Seating is also spacious and it doesn't feel like you're encroaching on other tables. The cafe started getting busy/crowded around mid-afternoon and the people coming in at this time were mostly there to socialize/hangout which isn't a big deal but with the layout/structure of the cafe, noise did seem to amplify with the way it bounced off the walls. My friend did comment that this made it very difficult to concentrate/study and we both agreed that light studying would be fine at this place, but if you're looking to get some serious work done, it may be difficult to concentrate/focus once the cafe gets busy. There are outlets along the walls throughout the cafe so if you are able to get a table along the wall there shouldn't be any issue with being able to connect a laptop or phone charger. The only section of the cafe that didn't seem to have any outlets were the tables that were right across from the ordering counter. Wifi is free (there's a placard near the counter with the wifi name and password) but I did have issues with connectivity while on my laptop. I was only there for a few hours but there were numerous times when the wifi would intermittently cut out which made it difficult to get my work done seamlessly since I was using a program that relies on a constant steady internet connection. Thankfully the wifi disruptions were brief but this would definitely be something to keep in mind if you are looking for a place to get work done and need a reliable internet connection. 5/5 PARKING Since this is part of a strip mall, there's plenty of free parking in the open parking lot. There are also a handful of parking spaces right in front of the cafe too. Beautiful space to savor some spiced tea and steep in your thoughts. There's an influx of Yemeni coffee shops in the area, but Arwa will always be my first. There's ample parking and seating. We tried khaliat nahal (the honeycomb bread), adeni tea, and mofawer coffee. I'm no expert and I'm usually shy to comment much on cuisines I know less about.. but the experience was so beautiful that I just wanted to chime in! It was my first time trying Yemeni coffee, and I was pleasantly surprised by the good service and unique flavors. I couldn't resist trying the 4 signature drinks and treats, and they were not only interesting in taste but beautifully presented - so aesthetic! After a fabulous lunch, my sister and I came here for dessert and an iced coffee, and to talk and get caught up on life. The minute you walk in the delicious smell of fresh coffee greets and welcomes you. They have a sleek and clean narrow dining area then it opens up in the back with more seating in a larger space and outdoor seating that I would've loved to experience but it was way too hot. I ordered the Rosemilk cake which my sister recommended and oh-my-goodness it was amazing!! I once heard or what described as a "symphony for the senses" and I couldn't agree more. When you walk in the door, the space is beautiful and you are greeted by absolutely lovely women who are more than happy to answer questions about their offerings. Then there's the smell of coffee and warm spice wafting through the air that draws you in even further to the sound of soft, Arabic music that almost makes you feel as if you are escaping Texas for a little while! I got some coffee and had to try this gorgeous Rose milk cake, you guys, do not sleep on this cake!! It is so beautifully flavored, the rose milk does indeed taste of Rose but not in a perfumey type of way. It is very subtle and wonderfully sweet and it is topped with whipped cream, pistachios and rose petals.
