Fish was fresh and soo delicious, and the service was very friendly. Our food came out fast as well even though it was a little busy. I found some of the sides in my box to be underwhelming (not saying they were bad though). Cute place with comfortable and somewhat intimate seating. Would definitely come back next time I'm in Olympia and craving sushi.

Really enjoyed the experience my friend and I had here for an evening dinner. Parking downtown was a built busy but that isn't the restaurant's fault. I like the vibe inside. Our server was very friendly. We got the crab rangoons and I did not like them. They seemed just to be cream cheese, but not much crab, or onion. Wish they would have been better because they looked great. We also got the standard edamame, asahi tower (which I highly recommend), the seared salmon roll, and a tuna roll that I can't remember the name of. The sushi was fresh and very good. It is a bit more price wise, but I really enjoyed it. Would definitely go back.

Came for lunch on a weekend. Street parking was pretty easy to find. This is a cozy restaurant in downtown Olympia. There's a sushi bar and booth tables. Service is attentive and friendly. We got 3 rolls and a salad to share. We also got the calamari rings but the squid was tough. The salad was a good portion with tuna and avocado cubes. The seaweed salad on top was nice to integrate into the rest of the greens. The rolls were very tasty. The fish tasted fresh. The presentation was nice, too! Price was pretty standard for average sushi places nowadays. Including a large hot sake, we spent $100 for lunch for two adults.

The bluefin Hawaiian roll touched my soul! Haha but seriously it's my favorite sushi roll I've ever had. The mango drizzle is stunning and delicious. Ambiance of this place is calming and perfect for an evening out. Service was on point. Easy 5 stars from me.

The last time I was here it was in 2021, and I almost forgot this place, but thanks to Yelp's recommendations, it reminded me of this nice place. This place deserves a fresh comment This place gets 5 stars due to the exceptionally fresh food taste. There are very few sushi places that make good sushi, and the ingredients are fresh. The server Mira is exceptional, friendly, and attentive. Ambiance is casual and family oriented, and a clean establishment. I would recommend everyone who enjoys sushi to come here and enjoy the food and Mira's friendliness while she takes your order and serves you as if you are family.

We came here because we wanted to walk around downtown afterwards, and oh my. Starting off, it was really quiet. Low music and lighting, friendly staff, and a very calm atmosphere. Food, fantastic. I got the Olympia roll, and my mother got the tuna poke salad. My roll was not only delicious, it tasted fresh and looked so cute! My mother highly enjoyed her salad as well. We also got the Avocado bomb, which was creamy yet crunchy, and really flavorful! Overall, 10/10 will be here again. Heads up, it is a little pricey ( a couple of bucks more) but that's due to the really good quality of the ingredients.

They say they are open until 9:30 but really won't seat people past 9:00. They just turned away a $200 table. Stupid way to run a business, especially on a holiday weekend when travelers are looking to spend money. read more

The restaurant itself is nice and clean. The fact that you're able to watch the sushi chefs as they work creates a great atmosphere. After trying multiple things on the menu from appetizers to udon and finally sushi, everything was absolutely delicious. One of the best sushi restaurants I've been to in Washington. The service was fantastic. They servers were fast and very attentive. On top of all of that everyone was extremely friendly. read more

This place is AMAZING!! Wow, the food was so delicious, there was a little wait but I'm glad they took every precaution to social distance inside the restaurant. The staff was so nice and kind. We had the bento, chutoro roll and wow my husband was blown away by the quality of the fish. We have tried many places for good quality Japanese food and this place just goes to show why it's so highly rated. Definitely going to be our staple restaurant, the 15 min drive is well worth it! We can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu! read more

I ordered delivery due to Covid. This place is a work in progress, and is not a Shiro Kashiba's yet. It's funny how some people judge sushi by quantity and not quality. It is nice having an option other than the Koibitos. Hopefully, I'll be dining in the restaurant next time. read more

I like this place. It's pretty solid. Occasionally I get a piece of fish that's less than super fresh, and sometimes the tempura is too greasy. The portions and quality vary from night to night. But I'm sure I'll be back. I think this place and Sushi House are the best places in Olympia for sushi. read more

We we looking for a good sushi place for date night and this one blew us out of the water! When we arrived everyone greeted us with a "hello" and we were immediately sat. We ordered and had the Hurricane Roll, the Bluefin roll and the Asahi roll which were all fantastic! The fish tasted very fresh and they put the right amount of each ingredient in the rolls to make it taste great! We will be back for sure! read more

We lived in the Bay Area which had a large Japanese population and fantastic restaurants & I've also been to Japan. Asahi hit it out of the ballpark. Fresh food, VERY generous portions of fish and everything was fantastic. We will be back again and again. read more

Great place! My husband and I were in town for a couple days and stumbled upon this. Sushi is delicious, and service was very good. They also seem to be taking appropriate measures to reduce the risk of Covid spread, which I really appreciate. Inside is very clean and decorated nicely. We have been looking for a place of this quality in the Olympia area for years, and we're so glad we finally found it. High quality fish, innovative rolls, everything we ate here was the best of its kind. The interior was serene and comfortable and the service was perfect. Thank you for being open and making a concerted effort to practice social distancing. My partner got chicken katsu and I got sushi. Both had great presentation and flavor. I especially liked the cascade roll (similar to rainbow roll). Would definitely recommend and eat here again. read more

When we walked in, it was completely empty and there was a sign up at the entrance mentioning they were hiring servers. The restaurant seemed spacious but maybe it felt that way because all the tables were unoccupied. It took a few seconds before someone came out, but the girl who helped us ended up being the only saving grace of the entire experience. She was super sweet, told us we could sit anywhere, brought menus right away, and was on top of everything: drinks, appetizer, sushi, clearing plates. She was honestly the only person we interacted with the whole time. I did end up going to the register to pay after our meal, since she got busy once more people came in, but she handled everything she could really well. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the service. It was simply mediocre. The shrimp tempura tasted undercooked (I could still taste the batter smh). My husband got the Red Dragon roll and I got the Big Mike. He asked for no cucumber and they were accommodating. Regarding portion sizes, they're generous, and I can see how that might appeal to the general palate. I like that the rolls were cut nicely too, where the rolls were a little thinner than your standard piece, so they were easy to eat. The torched salmon and eel were probably the best parts of what I ordered. But overall, the quality felt pretty average. The rice was lacking flavor and kind of just tasted like plain filler. Our total came out to about $57 before tip, and honestly, it didn't feel worth it. Most rolls averaged $19, but they tasted more like something you'd expect at a cheaper spot. I've had similar sushi before that I'd consider more of a budget option (not amazing, but decent for the price). This sushi was passable but tasted more like $15 for a roll.. Just subpar for my standards. I think what made it more disappointing is that when I go out for sushi, I am expecting something better than what I could make at home (and yes, I have made sushi before with sashimi-grade fish, sushi rice, etc.). It is convenient to have someone cook for you, and good sushi is supposed to feel like an extraordinary experience. That's why I dine out at sushi restaurants but this just didn't hit the spot. Overall, amazing service, but the food was pretty underwhelming for the price.

I did like how they were playing regional programming on the TVs so we had something to look at as we ate, but on the whole, it might be better on the weekends when people are filling the restaurant and bringing the energy up.

My fiancé ordered the fatty tuna hand roll and tuna maki roll, while I went with the chicken katsu. Everything arrived together and surprisingly quickly. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious--especially impressive given how reasonably priced it all was. We left completely satisfied and are already planning our next visit. Highly recommend Koibito for great sushi and a fantastic casual dining experience!

We're down the street from Zen and decided to give their ramen a try. Parking is easy to locate but can be a bit crowded since it's in the same lot as Dutch Bros and a couple other shops. When we first entered, we were greeted by an employee (and the Naruto statue at the front hehe). It was fairly empty when we arrived since it was on a Friday around 4ish in the afternoon. You have to pay first when you order. You'll be provided a number placard to place at a table of your choose when you dine in, and your food will be brought to you when it is ready. Drinks are also self-serve (for soda). We decided upon water cups but it's at the same station as the sodas. There is a menu at the cash register for quick ordering if you know what you want (when you walk in, it's on the left). The employee also directed us to a menu with pictures and descriptions of each item (when you walk in, it's on the right). The place definitely has Japanese vibes for the interior decor with its oaky/wooden furniture and warm lighting. Our ramen arrived shortly after we seated ourselves. We both ordered similar spicy ramen, which ended up tasting fairly good. My son really enjoyed his ramen since he liked the level of spiciness and taste of the broth (spicy enough to taste the flavors and feel the heat but not enough to hurt). He also liked that the ingredients were balanced (not an overabundance of just ramen noodles). I did enjoy my ramen as well and shared similar views. My only criticism would be that the ramen options seemed very simplistic and many ingredients were similar, so it didn't feel like much variety. My son and I actually ordered two different kinds of ramen, believe it or not, but from the photos, they look almost identical. There's also only the option of tonkatsu or shoyu broth, regular or spicy. The soft boiled egg was delicious but it would have been nice to receive a full egg instead of just half. They are generous with their chasu portions at least, with its big slices. Not as tender compared to other places I've been to, though, but still tastes good. We enjoyed our experience here though so I can at least say that it's worth trying out the ramen. Not so sure about the sushi burritos but maybe we will consider for next time.

The chicken adobo bowl was amazing! I want to return to try the other bowls they had because this one was great! I didn't like how they fill the bowl to the rim because as soon as I mixed it up so much fell out. I prefer when they just use a bigger bowl. It was a bit pricey, but maybe that's normal for downtown Olympia.

We're serious sushi lovers who've eaten at spots all over the country, so our standards are high. We stopped at Asahi in Olympia on our way to Olympic National Park -- honestly just looking for a quick meal. It turned out to be one of the highlights of the entire trip. The ambiance alone sets this place apart -- elegant purple decor, soft lighting, clean and upscale feel. Not what you expect from a highway stopover town. Service was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly without being pushy. Perfect dining pace. We ordered the miso soup to start -- rich, well-seasoned, exactly how it should be. The seaweed salad was fresh, light, and beautifully presented. Then came the rolls: the Baked Salmon Roll and the Olympian Roll. Both were outstanding. Gorgeous plating, fresh fish, bold flavors -- the kind of sushi that actually makes you stop mid-bite and appreciate it. All of that -- two rolls, seaweed salad, two misos, a Sapporo, and rice -- came out to under $55. For this quality, that's genuinely excellent value. If you're driving through Olympia heading to Olympic National Park, stop here. Don't skip it. Asahi is a hidden gem and we're already planning to return on our way back. read more
