Amazing sushi, hibachi, and service. Been coming here for three decades and can't say enough positive things about what they do here.

The NY strip habachi lunch with noodles--a few bites missing!

Grew up in the area and was back visiting family. I was having a real sushi craving so we went here. Wasn't sure what to expect since I live in the city and can find great sushi everywhere and this didn't exactly feel like 'sushi country.' It was great! I had 3 rolls. All were nicely prepared and fresh. I had a tuna avocado roll, rainbow roll and a 'my best friend's roll.' They happily brought us more pickled ginger and wasabi. I had a 16 year old hungry teenage nephew with me--- he devoured a strip steak habachi lunch with noodles and our full order of pork fried rice (which I suggested would mean we'd have some to take home for dinner--yeah right) was also devoured by him. I tasted both and they were also very good. We got some fried dumplings as a shared (ha!) starter-- very fresh and crispy. His came with a salad and clear soup. I enjoyed the salad and he enjoyed the soup. He topped off the feast with a couple strawberry mochi that looked quite tasty. The restaurant was clean and service was good. It was a little pricey esp for lunch since they didn't have any 'pick your own' sushi roll combo offerings. And the rice was $15. It was a good pile but that was a little expensive. They are currently adding a food price 'surcharge' given generally increased food prices. I'm not sure if it's a flat fee or a percentage but it added about 5% to my bill. I missed the sign on my way in so when I asked about it I asked if it was a gratuity. The waitress said yes but I think she didn't understand. I feel a little badly since I only tipped about 10% because I thought part of the tip was factored in. Maybe they are doing this surcharge to avoid re-printing the menus?? Weird. But otherwise enjoyable. And their habachi room looked great. It wasn't open at lunch time but we saw it on the way to the (very clean) bathrooms.

This is the only sushi restaurant I know of in the Dallas, PA area so I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered the Sushi & Sashimi Lunch. It's a little pricier than other places in the valley but it was still very reasonable. The white tuna was very creamy and delicious. The salmon was pretty good but the yellowfin was out of this world. I could have eaten just that. The fish on the sushi was fresh and had great flavor. Definitely will go back when I'm in the area.

    ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL!!!!

Food is pricey. Hibachi not as good as other places in the nearby area. Chefs overcook food and flavor is not great. Service ok

We started off with their fresh bread & olive oil mix and it was fantastic. Then we moved on to the Chile Lime Shrimp appetizer with coconut rice which was amazing too. House salads were fresh and tasty. Then we moved on to the main course and had the Veal Schnitzel which was fresh breaded tender veal and carrots. We also had the Baked Short Ribs Bolognese. The short ribs tasted like they were done in a red wine base & the pasta sauce was a delicious light marinara. We finished off with a Vanilla Creme Brûlée. Everything was amazing as well as the service where the waitresses and waiters all pitch in at our table. Highly recommended!

All-in-all a 5-star experience - when back in the area, we will be sure to seek out Kevin's!

The extensive menu features a variety of brunch options, salads, and sandwiches. Their veggie options are a bit limited, but definitely present (ex: falafel salad, avocado toast), and many of the dishes feature unique combinations and homemade sauces/aiolis. I landed on the Smoked Salmon Avocado toast, which was fine. I was disappointed that it seemed to be made with prepackaged guacamole/avocado (I'm sure for cost reasons), and the bread was pretty thick so it was challenging to eat. Flavor-wise, it was solid, but I think I'll try one of the other, more creative options next time. My cousin chose their turkey sandwich and seemed to enjoy. It was large enough that she took half home! Our food arrived before our matcha lattes, so we wound up asking for to-go cups. The matcha itself was delicious, though sweeter than we anticipated (in retrospect, we should have realized that a "white chocolate lavender matcha macchiato" would be pretty sweet!).

The last time I was here I was with my dear friend Cinnamon who was and will always be my food review co-host. Ill place that video at the end of this one for you all to check out if I still have it somewhere. Ok so today I am getting as recommended the "thick & chewy" pie from my server Gabby. Now it comes plain so you have to add toppings if you want them, I added fresh garlic, onions, and bacon. This was nice and thick as stated, full of toppings. The pizza had a nice amount of cheese and sauce; the crust had a good crispy shell yet soft on the inside. This was very delicious. I did start out with a cup of loaded potato soup; this soup came out very hot and was loaded with potatoes and bacon, very creamy. My server was very energetic, and you could tell she enjoys what she does. A great job all the way around Checkerboard. Definitely you all need to come out and check out their menu. Even the patrons there were nice! We tried the pretzel, the wings (dry rubbed with old bay and also the bourbon glazed), shepherds pie, Big Mic flatbread, and the stuffing. The pretzel was great! Slight crunch on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. It came with beer mustard and beer cheese, neither of which were that impressive. I'd probably just have regular cheese sauce or yellow mustard, but it was great on its own...and it's HUGE. It took a couple of days to finish and the texture held up nicely. The wings were also very big and cooked well. All of their flavor options are for wet wings, so when I asked for dry, they offered the old bay. Both were okay flavor wise, but you definitely get a big wing for your money. Sadly, the 2 signature items we got (the sheperds pie and the Big Mic flatbread) were very underwhelming. The pie tasted like it had instant mashed potatoes on top and lacked flavor throughout. The big mic had some of the flavor it was going for, but the toppings were too large (big chunks of beef and lettuce) - would maybe be better if they were cut up smaller. Also, the dough seemed too thick for this (almost like it was made on foccacia bread), a thinner curse would have been much nicer. And the side of stuffing, tasted like regular stove top (which is good), but it was very dry here. Hopefully some improvements could be made because the people were so great.

Welcome to the Friday pizza night everyone. Tonight, I am back at a place where you would not really think of getting a pizza. There is a place in Kingston Pa located on Pierce Street called Tirado's Pizza & Mexican Grill. Now a while back I stopped here and tried one of their Mexican dishes, Ill link that video below. Now who would of thought, I didn't, Boy was I impressed, this pizza was really delicious, reminded me of the pizza that I would get years ago back in the 80's, that's how good I thought this was. Now I walked in and grabbed a seat, I was greeted in a welcoming manor where the young man took my drink order as well as bring you some complimentary chips with homemade salsa. The pizza sauce to tasted like a traditional more then a sweet sauce. I would recommend everyone to try this place out. Their menu has something for just about everyone. I will be back to try some more dishes, thank you to the staff here at Tirado's for a great dining experience.
