I googled best garage repair and spoke with Overhead Door Company. I was given a quote (tentatively) over the phone so I knew what to expect financially. When Steve with Overhead Door arrived, I explained to him what happened earlier this morning with the other company, he told me that only the one broken cable needed to be replaced. There was no need to replace the other cable or the Springs, but he would lube the Springs, tighten the cables to ensure that the door would go up and down smoothly. There was no need to remove the entire door. Excellent service! Highly recommend Overhead door Company.I feel that they were fair, honest, reputable, and a good value for the money. Since installing these new doors we've had nothing but trouble with them. Our double garage doors required numerous call backs due to the chain slapping in the track and terrible squeaking and banging noises as the garage door was opening. They finally fixed that issue. We also have the same issue with our single stall garage door now, which has had very little use until my retirement a few months ago. Because it is now getting normal use, it took longer for these issues to manifest. They sent someone out 2 months ago and he fixed the issue, but now they want $155 to re-fix the same issue. When I queried them about this the lady said it's out of warranty and that it's been "years" since they installed the doors. It's actually been less than two years. I've used their lawn pest service for some time, and I wish I had checked reviews before signing up. I first contacted them in March after noticing clear signs of a chinch bug infestation. I built my home 22 years ago and have dealt with chinch bugs before--I know exactly what the damage looks like. Instead of taking my concern seriously, they repeatedly insisted it was just drought stress. From March through July, I called multiple times asking them to properly investigate. When they finally came out in June, the inspection felt very superficial. They ran my irrigation for a couple of minutes, did a quick moisture test, and again concluded it was drought--even though my irrigation system had already been checked and confirmed to be working properly. Meanwhile, the damage pattern in my lawn clearly matched chinch bugs, while the rest of the yard remained healthy. The most frustrating part is that the Monday after telling me I did NOT have chinch bugs, they returned and treated the lawn for chinch bugs anyway. That alone shows how uncertain their diagnosis was. Now my lawn is in the worst condition it has been in since I built my home 22 years ago. What should have been a manageable issue was allowed to spread because they refused to listen and delayed proper treatment. When I asked them to make it right, I was met only with excuses and no accountability. We put a large deposit down for a screened in porch build, and then they disappeared and ignored our calls. Tony Kurtz, the owner, is an absolute smooth-talking scammer. After he gave us an estimate, we put down a large deposit, and we were put on his schedule. The day we were supposed to have concrete poured, no one showed up or answered our calls. We later found out that his concrete guy cancelled for personal reasons, but Tony or his office never reached out to inform us of this because "he was on vacation in the mountains and didn't know." Because of that, he pushed our install date out. Then, a hurricane hit shortly before we were scheduled for the install, so there were understandable delays. No problems there, and we were promised by Tony that we were next in line and he would contact us asap. However, that's when he completely ghosted us. After dozens of emails, phone calls, texts and messages with no return, we were finally told by Tony that they were delaying our project so that they could instead take care of any new customers that called with hurricane damage. After we argued that we had been waiting over a year for our project, he responded that prices have gone up since our original estimate and he was no longer going to be making any money on our project so he was going to take all hurricane calls for the next several months and would get back to us in a few months. It was clear that he was taking advantage of the hurricane to charge higher costs for everyone going through insurance and our project wasn't worth his time anymore. After that call, we waited and continued to check-in for updates over the next few months, but they never returned any of our calls.
