I am writing this review to express my complete satisfaction with H&Y with the purpose of letting them know as well as to assist anyone who is considering using their services. For reference, I am the President of the BOD for a local condominium Association. After positive past dealings with H&Y I referred them to a member unit-owner to replace a wood courtyard enclosure with vinyl. They were prompt with their estimate and were selected out of three companies by the homeowner to perform the job. The job was completed but needed to be lowered slightly to match the height of others in the Association. Despite a delay caused by the hurricane, Jerry, the owner, saw to it that the adjustment was made to our specifications. Given the relative insignificance of this re-visit in comparison to the volume of fence work a hurricane can produce, H&Y kept their commitment and for that the homeowner and I were thoroughly impressed. It is not often these days that we witness this kind of integrity in business dealings so when we do we must recognize it. The estimates were given in a timely manner by Mike. And once the down payment was made, I was told 4 to 6 weeks. At the 7 week mark, I was curious because no one had called me with an update on my order. They said they would call in a couple of weeks once they had my install ready to schedule. Jason did call and schedule for the following week at 9am. There were some set-backs on install day, for I had been scheduled to be 9am and by 10am, no one had shown up or called. Having taken the morning off, I was upset when I ended up having to take the full day off and they didn't even arrive until after 2pm. The crew was very efficient, with Sergio heading the team. They worked for a couple of hours. Glad I was there, to review fence before they finalized or they would have installed the fence sloped to accommodate the yard. Fence should be even, dirt can be added to even the slope of the yard on the side of the house. The posts were corrected and fence install continued. Second day they came back and finished the job. Fence looks great and truly adds value to the house. I think the installation crew is top notch. The office staff really needs to improve on their communication skills with their customers. It's like they don't care about the customer but boy did they call right away to get paid. No one ever apologized for making me wait all day when I had been scheduled for a 9am install. read more

I stopped by H&Y's retail office and spoke to Matt about sourcing some fence posts and materials for our home fence project. He was helpful with information and said he could order the metal posts that we needed for our job. He pulled up a reference online and we discussed the post style. I returned home to confirm my measurements and order details. I returned to H&Y on Monday to place my order only to find that Matt was less than helpful. Actually pretty dismissive. Now telling me that he had no idea if he could get my posts. All of a sudden Matt was clueless. He said he would have to get someone else in the office to call the supplier, but of course, no other person in the office was available to do this or had information. I'm not exactly sure what happened to Matt, basic customer service, and professionalism over the course of 2 days, but I, without a doubt will not be giving H&Y any of my money in the future. read more

I called H&Y Fence on August 6th to schedule an onsite fence repair estimate. I was told the earliest available appointment date was 3 weeks out. I asked to be placed on a cancellation list in the event that a sooner opening appeared. I called on August 19th to check status. The person with whom I spoke conferred with an associate and I was told they would check scheduling and call me back (never received a call back). I called again today, August 27th, explained the situation and was told an appointment was never recorded for me on the 6th. The soonest appointment, as of today, is a FULL MONTH out, (end of September). Better to experience a company's lack of professionalism and responsiveness before you sign an agreement. This my second fence with H&Y. the gate latches wouldn't work properly. they sent a service tech to correct, now they simply don't work. Called but the tech never called me back. seems like after the fence is paid they don't care about taking care problem in a timely manner despite the inconvenience of not being able to open the gates. read more

H & Y Fence is a horrible company to do business with. On 4/8/21, I signed a contract with H & Y to remove and replace 6 fence panels surrounding a human waste lift station. H & Y wanted half the money upfront, which I paid them. On 6/29/21, their crew finally came and removed 6 four-foot by six-foot fence panels. They were supposed to reinstall them the next day, 6/30/21. Six weeks later, we are still waiting, and community residents have to look at the human waste lift station. H & Y are in breach of contract. When I call them, I am told someone will call me right back. No one ever does. read more

I don't know what to say. I posted a review a couple of weeks ago and I was frustrated with the poor customer service (in the office). Well, when they came to repair the fence, (it was almost 3 months, because of Hurricane Ian)), the crew did a more than outstanding job (and it was well worth the wait). The fellow, John, kept us posted on what they were doing and why and it was just wonderful. I had an accident and John and another fellow from his crew , dropped everything and ran over to help me! Everybody that came were wonderful! They fixed the entire, very large, fence in less than one day. John knew that I had dogs and he had them place the fence as low to the ground as possible - wonderful. I will use this company for all of my fencing needs. My only thing was that, I wanted a date and no one would give it to me, until the fellow responded to my YELP review did (and that was much appreciated). Most frustrating company to do business with today. The office staff are totally incapable of answering scheduling questions and Jerry simply does not adhere to any schedule commitments. They certainly are quick to charge you a 50% deposit....but delivery and installation???....figure four months, three excuses, and five no return calls. read more

The initial install in 2020 was great. Not the least amount but had a great reputation. Took months due to Covid. Understandable. IAN hit. 2022. Called and finally got a quote with the understanding I would be given credit for product I had saved or salvaged from the storm. Or what actually still standing In February 2023 the workers came used what I had and the new material and repaired the fence. I was not given a credit at first for what was standing or the product I had. After month a representative came made an evaluation and I was given less than 500$ credit. I was charged for materials that was standing still and they did not provide and was told that was all they were willing to do for me. So if it is ok to purchase 1 of something and pay for 2 please use this company. The staff at H and Y fence were very helpful, friendly and attentive. When I needed some details re-explained In the planning and decision phase they did it without hesitation and even offered to set up a 2nd appt. After deciding and payment, There was a lengthy wait for permitting by the city but that's out of the company's control. Once that hurdle was passed, they updated me and scheduled installation right away. After installation, I wanted something fine tuned for privacy with my privacy fencing and they contacted the contractor to get it done right away and they came out to personally complete additional fine tuning. Finally, there was another wait for inspection after installation. But overall it was a painless, professional process and Im very happy with the fence. We hired them to build a fence in April 2016 and they did a great job. We wanted a shadowbox fence and they were able to build it exactly as we wanted it. Other companies either didn't do that type of fence or they were prohibitively expensive. A few days ago, we notified them of a problem. Because of all the rain, the latch on one of the gates wasn't closing properly. Jerry, the owner, responded the next day. He created a repair ticket and the repairman came over the very next day. He adjusted the latch and now the gate is working properly. And, even though it's been three years since they built the fence, there was no charge to me. I highly recommend this company. read more

I love my new fence. Everything looks amazing. New gate is nice and solid. The guy I spoke to that was doing the install brought up some issues that he may have. Told him I didn't care so much about visual appeal as far as the the being aligned through the dips in yard. My main concern was being set to the ground to secure the dogs. I've used H & Y Fence three times now for our fencing needs: one repair many years ago, one downed fence line from Hurricane Irma, and yesterday to replace a deteriorating back fence. They're always on time, super professional, and their materials are top-notch. I employed H & Y Fence to install two privacy fences in my yard. A deposit for the work initiated the process. When the installers came they were unsure where to dig. As a homeowner, I told them that there were cable lines and irrigation lines in the area. The installers said that they would hand dig the area. Apparently, H&Y or someone dropped the ball on locating the underground lines, even though the owner's son said they were indicated on his drawing. Only 15 minutes into the installation, they came to my door and reported that they had cut a cable and that water was gushing out of the hole that was dug. Long story short, they indeed cut my Comcast cable as well as the water line into my home. In response to this, a handyman for H&Y was sent out to repair the damage. This happened on Friday, July 1. I had five family members coming into town that afternoon, two of which were young children. The handyman was overwhelmed, to say the least, and was not able to repair the water pipe. Jerry Mills, the owner, said he would send out a certified plumber, which he never did! Had it not been for my neighbor who is skilled in construction, we would not have had cable OR water over the holiday weekend. In addition, the installers were trying everything to stop the leak! They shut off my landscape lighting and another water line into my home, unbeknown to me. Needless to say, we as homeowners were forced to troubleshoot and rectify these issues as well. My husband was livid and told the handyman to take the fence parts away as he would no longer allow H&Y to install anything on our property. We finally, through the efforts of my neighbor, had water to the whole house on Saturday AM. The owner of the company, Jerry Mills, NEVER called to check to see if our water/cable issues were resolved. A partial check was to be issued and mailed to me. I was told that H&Y would not reimburse me for the permitting fee, which makes no sense as the permit was part of the installation process. To date, two weeks later from the date of this fiasco and total inconvenience to me and my guests, I still do not have my deposit back! read more

A few years ago we hired a different local fencing company to install a wooden fence on our property. The experience was horrible. So this year when we decided to make a few changes to our fence, add a gate and continue the fence around the backyard we did a lot of research to find the best company for the job. I'm torn on this company. On the one hand, they did a decent job coming out and bidding the job. Fence is what I expected and bid on. Only caveat is the guys didn't remove some materials which should have been removed and broke an irrigation head.
