Asato is a sorbet and sherbet shop inside the Kings and Queens clothing store. The shop is very clean and there was no line when we went. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We ordered the ube sherbert. The flavor was great and it was very refreshing.
Dessert in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii... My friend treated us to lunch, so we wanted to take her to dessert. We walked a few blocks to Asato's Waikiki. I've had Asato's sherbet from the original Pali Highway location. It was available in pint containers and needed to be ordered in advance. There were long lines most of the time for these treats. I was lucky and went at off-times, so I didn't have to wait. This time, we went inside of a retail store (Kings & Queens) at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach. We got a seat at the bar and enjoyed a scoop of sherbet. Service was pleasant and efficient! Each of us ordered a different flavor: Green River (lemon-lime), strawberry, and pineapple. They were all refreshing, smooth, and delicious! I would go back for the 4-course omakase experience... even though it's pricey ($58 or so). It needs to be booked online. It sounds very unique and fun!

We didn't know what li hing was and we asked and she answered. Would come back to try some of their other flavors, though it wasn't my fave kind of ice cream. Was pretty good though!
One of my new favorite ice cream places on the island. This is their second location that is in Waikiki located inside of Kings and Queens store in the back. They specialize in a unique style of sorbet that is like a mix between shave ice and ice cream. The texture is smooth and icey at the same time its hard to describe without trying it yourself! The flavors are fruit-forward local sherbet flavors like POG Lilikoi, and Ube. But my favorite has to be the tried and true strawberry. It is family owned and the service is great, they let you sample the daily flavors. There was even a shave ice tasting that they do and I am interested in trying next time I am there.

I don't typically like sherbet but this place is delicious! I love the Li Hing float! Tucked in the back of King and Queen. Surprised the line was not long. A must try in Waikiki!
This is literally below the Hyatt regency rooms in Waikiki. This was delicious and worth the hype. I wish we went a 2nd time but it was delicious and I would come here again. Service was friendly and the entire area is chill with tourists.
I love Asato's. They were voted First Place for Hawaii's Best Frozen Dessert. I had a hard time going to their old spot in downtown because they used to close so early and I was at work. This location is much better. It closes later and is in Waikiki. It's located in the back of a clothing store, King & Queens, at the Hyatt. It's $6 a scoop in a single serve cup. They have both sherbert (contains dairy) and sorbet (no dairy). I believe that they have different flavors throughout the week. The day that I went they had strawberry, lemon lime, ube Oreo, li hing float, li hing sour belt and passion orange. I went with the passion orange. It was yummy. It was a little tart from the natural flavoring of the passion fruit. It quenched my thirst on that hot day. The girl working behind the counter was very nice. She was so patient as I was deciding on what flavor I wanted. If you're kama'aina they will give you a discount.
I always come to get some when I'm visiting, I'm glad to have finally visit their new store front in Waikiki! Sadly they didn't have their li hing strawberry but there was other super yummy flavors. I'll be back sometime this week since I'm always craving it Their flavors are really on point and taste exactly what they are Our favorite out of them all was the lemon lime
We did a Waikiki staycation this weekend and finally got to have some real relaxation time so we decided to venture around Waikiki. Asato's happened to be super close to our hotel so we decided to go and check it out. I didn't realize they were in a store so at first we didn't really know where it was. But my boyfriend found it tucked away in the back of a cute surf shop (King's and Queen's Hawaii). I know their menu is a little different then their shop they had in Nu'uanu because I've seen pictures of shaved ice and fancier desserts but I didn't see that on their menu when we went and I didn't ask. So we settled for a scoop of green river each, and my boyfriend got his with lihing mui sauce on top. Honestly, can't go wrong with green river. I also got a package of the lihing pineapple gummies because they were calling my name. We'll have to come to try their flavor lab things but I'm glad we were able to find them so next time we go we know where to go.

Asato's is located inside a store but they have a sign out front so it's pretty easy to locate. Passion orange sorbet was really good!
This place hits a few nostalgia taste buds, every time I stop by. I always order the Strawberry Sherbert. It's like a creamy (not milky) strawberry Diamond Head soda that went on a date with condensed milk, and decided to have a party inside a Ninja ice cream maker. This ice cold treat is pure delight, especially on muggy days. Located inside a clothing shop in the Hyatt Regency Hotel, across from the beach, and I believe they're card only. read more
TLDR: the Omakase Dessert experience is so not worth the value. They make it seem like this experience is so exclusive -- in truth, there are only four seats and two seatings throughout the day. Obviously with some light marketing, they're going to sell out for the week. The first two courses consisted of melted gummy bears and then a plate of Li Hing Mui Gummies/citrus peels. I feel like this experience targets foreigners because growing up as an Asian American I've already encountered most of these candies; nothing special. I could not even finish the plate and ended up stopping a little over halfway. Too much sugar makes me nauseous. $58 for gummy bears, soda and a shaved ice is not worth the value. I would have easily paid $22-$25 for just the shaved ice individually (that is very generous IMO since a traditional shaved ice is $7. Obviously, this is something they don't offer à la carte. Instead we paid for a plate of gummies and a soda and shaved ice. Don't get me wrong. The service member was super informative every step of the way and nailed down the service steps. We truly enjoyed our encounter and conversation with her. Two stars for service. In hindsight, we had an idea what we were booking, however wanted to give the benefit of doubt that there was something unique. There was not. Again the highlight of this experience was the shaved ice flavors, which were so unique and honestly flavorful and delicious. Add one star. Avoid at all costs. Seems like a short term solution to make some money but rip off tourists. read more

Its hot in Hawaii. Full stop. So happy to stop by and get a cold refreshing scoop of some premium sherbet from here. $6 a cup,a small cup. Card only. Located in the Hyatt, in a clothing store-odd but it works. Brightly colored strawberry and green river (lemonlime) will refresh you. They also have some kind of shave ice experience that requires reservations, but if u just want a cool cup of sherbet, walk in. read more

I finally got to try the famous asato's at their location inside the Kings and Queens in Waikiki. No line when I walked up to the counter. I got the Li Hing Float sherbert, perfect for a warm Hawaii day. It definitely helped me cool down. I wish I had more hands to order more flavors. I'lll be back and I will try them all! read more
This place is located inside the Kings & Queens Store. Wish we came earlier in the day because half of the flavors were sold out. We tried the Ube, Li Hing Float, Mango, and Strawberry Float. I would say the best one was the Mango. I really really wanted to try the Pickled Mango Juice flavor but it wasn't available. The Li Hing was okay, it was a bit too tart for me. I do like how they have unique flavors. It wasn't my favorite but, I would come back again and try different flavors. read more
What started off as a pop-up that sold sherbet in pints - Mr. Asato has finally opened his first dine-in experience. The shave ice omakase needs reservations made online in order to be seated. I never made a reservation so I opted for a mango orange sherbet (still delicious!). Would love to try the shave ice omakase which was just awarded the James Beard award on my next visit. Can never go wrong with Mr. Asato's sherbet. Definitely some of the best in Hawaii! I also recommend checking out if their truck is parked at any events! I am always happy to see if they pop up - they usually sell their sherbet to go. Makes a great snack when there's outdoor events where it can get hot! read more
LOVED this experience. Easily my fav spot from week 1 Limited seating so make sure to reserve in advance! It's a dessert tasting experience and you get a great intro to local flavors like li hing and lemon peel (def been hooked since). Star of the show is the shaved ice The texture is insane -- almost crunchy??? but also smooth. Toppings are so special and love that the ice is layered with syrup. You get one as part of the experience but they're super generous and probs will offer another Staff is super welcoming too -- just such a good vibe overall read more
Always wanted to try this place out when they announced they have a store. They only have a few items on the menu plus some lihing mui in little baggies. Credit cards only :/ Tried the yuzu sorbet because it's non dairy. Very strong yuzu flavor, kinda like a lemonade. My friend got the lihing mui sorbet. Very lihing mui but also tasty. We were lucky to book the tasting so easily we didn't even realize how exclusive it was until we arrived! Everything was so yummy, but the highlight for me was the shaved ice. I loved the li hing strawberry crunch cake shave ice - I'm obsessed w. The toffee crunch topping I hope they start selling it!!! The creme brulee shave ice w/ macadamia nut crunch was also amazing. The gummies and soda were fun but I could have done without that stuff. Either was super fun and unique experience. The server was also so sweet and friendly and really enhanced the experience! read more
I'm more of an ice cream girl than sorbet/sherbet but I do have to say I was super impressed by Asato's! The shop is a quick walk away from International Marketplace (where my friends and I parked). We tried to all get different flavors so we could try as many as possible! The flavors we got ranked in best order were Passion Orange Guava, Strawberry, Pineapple then Passion Orange. I thought the passion orange guava had a really strong flavor in a good way, and you can't really go wrong with strawberry and pineapple. The passion orange was a little disappointing (the flavor was still good but when you compared them to the others it was a little more bland). The omakase experience was fun! Idk if it was worth $60 a person though unless you're like a mega foodie and appreciate the art behind it. It made me feel like a kid in a candy shop. The gummies and the soda were alright taste wise but it made for a unique experience. The girls there were really nice and explained everything thoroughly. The highlight is definitely the shaved ice. It was not too sweet and the texture of the ice was perfect. My favorite was the crème brûlée. read more

I feel bad for people who stand in line for subpar ice cream. Asatos encompasses Hawaiian flavors in such a refreshing and not too sweet way. Love how the dairy items aren't too heavy and the sorbet is tart and delicious. But still not too tart! We went twice in one week. Would go again and get the other flavors. read more
I remember when Asato's only used to have pre-orders on Sundays at their Pali location. I am so glad that they have a shop now, and I can get Asato's whenever I feel like it. I really wanted to try their kakigori but decided to opt for something simple this day. I ended up getting a scoop of the yuzu. The texture of the sorbet is smooth, and the yuzu flavor did not taste artificial. This was the perfect treat for a hot Hawaii afternoon. read more
FAVE FOOD EXPERIENCE! What an amazing food experience on our honeymoon! The girlies were so sweet and a joy to chat with throughout the experience. You really can tell they enjoy what they do and are so proud of the shaved ice lab they have started up with the owner! It is located inside the clothing store, but it is very intimate as I believe there are only four seats. In this case my husband and I were the only ones and it was so sweet of the girls to be so accommodating and chatting with us. As for the shaved ices, AMAZING. We got to try three! My favorite is the crème brûlée cause of the caramelized sugar texture while my husband's is the strawberry lilikoi since it had little cake chunks. The rock salt plum soda was also so cute as we can make our own concentrate to take home! They wax seal the little bottle so it won't spill out :) Overall, I can't wait to book this again when we visit back! My mouth is drooling just remembering the shaved ices. read more
Tasty and refreshing with a great texture! We loved the staff who was friendly and let us try a couple samples. Very helpful and personable. I loved the Li Hing Float! It had the texture of Italian ice and some vanilla custard/ice-cream in it. It was a little tough to find the spot but it's inside a clothing store in the corner. There is an entrance from the mall and also the street. The entrance from Kalākaua Ave. had signage outside that made it easier to find the entrance. read more

I was craving something light and refreshing and stumbled upon Asato's. It's located inside Kings and Queens, toward the back. I got the li hing mui and it was so good! Not too sweet and light treat. The texture was kind of stretchy? It was a bit different, but still good. read more

"Unique Matcha Sherbet Experience Inside Kings & Queens" Food (4 / 5): This sherbet shop is located inside Kings & Queens Dept Store and is advertised as "Hawaii's Best Frozen Dessert." Since I don't have other sherbet shops to compare it to, I'm reviewing this purely from a first-time tourist perspective. I ordered the Matcha Sherbet, and the texture is what really stands out. The best way I can describe it is like those putty sand toys from childhood -- when you cut into it, it's incredibly soft but still holds its shape. Very smooth and satisfying visually and texturally. As for the taste, the matcha flavor is light and creamy. Personally, I prefer a stronger, more bold matcha flavor, so it wasn't exactly what I was hoping for -- but it's still a refreshing and enjoyable treat, especially on a hot day. Service (5 / 5): The employees are very friendly and welcoming. With only four counter seats that directly face where they prepare the sherbet, it creates a fun, interactive experience. You can easily strike up a conversation while they're making your dessert. It honestly feels like sitting at a little ice cream bar. Ambience / Décor: The shop is clean and well kept. There are four seats at the counter and additional seating outside the store (not on the beach strip side). It's cozy, simple, and comfortable. Overall: While I would've loved a stronger matcha flavor, the unique texture, friendly service, and clean setting make this place worth visiting. I'll definitely be back to try their fruit flavors next time to see how they compare. read more
I stopped by Asato's Waikiki for a sweet treat and ended up really enjoying it, even though it was a little different than I expected. I went in thinking it would be more like traditional shave ice, but the texture was actually closer to a sherbet or frozen dessert, which turned out to be perfectly refreshing in the Waikiki heat. The flavors were great and tasted vibrant without being overly heavy or artificial. One thing to know is that it's tucked away in the back corner of another store, so it can be a little easy to miss if you are not paying attention. Once I found it though, it was a nice little hidden break from the crowds and a relaxing way to cool down for a few minutes. read more

A scoop of asatos on the world's most famous beach? At sunset. What more can you ask for? If you are at all familiar with asatos, you'll know they make delicious sherbets with a variety of unique local flavors. A long time ago, I used to stand in line for their Sunday releases of pints of asatos. Now you can get pints at the fancier Foodlands. You can also get $5 scoops at the Kings and Queens clothing store located on the Makai side of the Hyatt. I was surprised there wasn't a line when we went, but it made it less awkward when the girl let me sample a few flavors before deciding on the yuzu flavor. My friend got the lihing float flavor, which is also one of my faves. The girl working the scoop station was very nice and it turned out that the cashier was the owners mom? It's a nice family owned local business that tourists should be lining up for. It's kind of sad that it's not located in a space more convenient for locals.... Like I'm not sure what the parking situation is like.... Do they validate? Idk. Come for the sherbet and take it across the street to the beach! read more
We were staying at the Hyatt Regency Spa Hotel and had no idea Asato was located inside the King & Queen clothing store. A friend mentioned this place, so we decided to check it out and it was refreshing and delicious. The staff were friendly and offered samples of different gummy and ice cream flavors. Everything tasted amazing, so I ended up buying some to take with me. I'll definitely visit again. read more
I love to support local businesses and brought a friend visiting the islands to try this place with me. I read an article recently about the shop which highlighted the local flavors they make, and took note of their li hing flavor as my friend loves all things li hing. We came by after an afternoon on the beach, locating them at the back of Kings and Queens surf shop on Kalanianaole, across the street from the Duke K statue. I got the coffee sheet which was said to be like a Vietnamese coffee, it was good but did not have the strong vietnamese coffee flavor. My friend loved the super li hing. On a second visit that week, I had the matcha sherbet which was also good, but could have been stronger. Overall, solid flavors. They offer kamaaina discount if you are local. read more
Go here if you want something in flavor between gelato and shaved ice. The sherbets and sorbets here simply aren't that strongly flavored, which is why I wouldn't come back here. It's also a bit weird to be walking all the way back inside a clothes shop to be buying a frozen treat. I naturally started looking at the clothes, but became nervous that I'd stain something. On the plus side, they let me sample all I cared to, and the servers are having the time of their lives, which rubbed off on me. read more
My friend and I stumbled upon the sign outside as we were on our morning runs. We tried the passion orange and it was good. Super refreshing and bright. It was what we needed after running. I hope I get to try their pickle mango one day. They only accept card, no cash. It's tucked inside a surfing clothing store that you have to go through, but it's easy to find. read more
Went here for the very first time on 5/26 with a friend since she was visiting home with her boyfriend and wanted to try Asato's. Like many locals I avoid Waikiki as much as possible but I figured why not try it and I'm happy to say it was definitely worth the drive out. I tried the blue vanilla & I got a little taste of the passion orange since my friend got it and that was also delicious! The employees that were working were very nice & patient while we figured out what we were going to get and seemed pretty knowledgeable about the product. Because of this experience I ended up checking out what flavors they have available at Foodland and got their ube oreo & passion orange! read more

From what I've read they offer free parking validation if you book their Flavor Lab Experience but if you aren't doing that then they still offer validation if you park at the Hyatt but the minimum purchase is $25.
How much is the omakase?
I didn't do it but their website says it $58/person and you need to book reservation on Open Table for a 1hr event
