I'm so delighted that they offer sauna and steam room complimentary to stay and not have to book an appointment for massage or facial to use spa. It's so nice inside. Relaxing and pretty isolated. Got to use the spa rooms for a good hour or so to myself and felt like a private retreat minus the other guests walking through to get to the massage and facial rooms. It's an extra perk that they provide facials. Supplies and locker rooms are easy to use. Turned down and relaxed here. read more

I had decided against booking a massage but my cousin went ahead and I followed to go check it out and see if I wanted to change my mind and book one. I am glad I didn't. When I went in, it was very nice and smelled lovely. There was nobody at the front desk so I walked straight over to the body products. A woman came out and greeted me but beyond that didn't ask if I had a reservation or anything of the sort. There was testers for a few products which I used to smell, I kept walking around and came across some other brands and opened the bottle to smell the product. Not once did I use it , all I did was smell and put it back when I hear an almost horrified yell from the woman, "DO NOT OPEN THE BOTTLES!" I was so startled I jumped up and looked over at her, I asked "how am I supposed to know how they smell? You have bottles labeled testers over here" she ignored my question and started rushing over saying "now I have to throw these bottles away because you opened them" I'm sorry? You have to throw away entire bottles of product because I smelled it? What an utter waste of product, if they are losing money I'm sure I could chalk it up to this lady throwing away perfectly good bottles of lotions. She then told me they have testers next to her desk, LOL but she didn't say anything when we walked in? She could have greeted us and directed us to the testers in the beginning to avoid having to throw product away. I smelled the testers and the entire time the woman is standing beside me , glaring as I smell them. I walked away and she promptly went to rearrange them as if I had ruined everything (even though I put them exactly where they were). This entire hotel had horrible staff and she was the cherry on top. My cousin had nothing notable to say of the massage and said that when she checked in for her massage the lady ignored her as well. Enjoyed the steam sauna (can use a little more steam) and the dry sauna (perfect temperature) The waiting area had hot tea and trail snacks. Peaceful and soothing~~ I love it! Beautiful Spa located in the lower level of the Tenaya Lodge. I was given a tour of the facilities upon arrival which included the fitness center, sauna, showers, lockers, and relaxation room. The lockers have automated locks that you set with your own numeric code. Robes and slippers are provided. I started with the Hikers massage which was much needed after two full days hiking in Yosemite. The massage concentrates on the arms, legs, and feet. It ends with a sugar scrub on the hands and feet. I finished with the anti aging sage facial. My ethstician was very friendly and explained the process and products to me. My skin was dry and wind burnt from hiking and I left the spa with glowing moisturized skin. The spa automatically adds 18% gratuity. The prices are on the higher end but it was worth it. read more

Sigh... long reviews, but please take the time to read. Our massages were only worthy of two stars. I feel bad saying that, but the value-per-dollar of our couples massage was pretty weak. My husband had a deep tissue massage for $160, and I had a prenatal massage for $150 (both 60 mins). I understand that, being pregnant, my massage can't be very deep, but very light strokes just isn't my cup of tea. I wish she would have spent more time on my feet, my neck, or my forehead. My husband said his therapist didn't use very deep pressure, and didn't focus on his upper back/shoulders/neck like he asked for. Maybe we got the wrong therapists for our tastes, but I think my review would be 4 stars if the massages were about $40 cheaper. The spa amenities, though, are VERY nice, and I feel a little better that the high cost allows us to use the other amenities as well. The locker room has everything you'd need. The showers have good body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. The locker room has lockers with personal PIN codes. The steam room and dry sauna are also nice to be able to use. The spa shop has some pretty nice things in it, and I spent another couple hundred $ on gifts. Of course, it's a little overpriced, but I picked out some nice things. read more

Check out my separate review for Tenaya itself. This trip was all about my mother in law turning 60 so of course we had to have a spa day. We originally booked 3 massages (one for each of us). We arrived and were pleasantly greeted. We were shown around the locker room and provided comfy robes. We were then escorted to the waiting room. I wasn't a fan of the separate waiting rooms as it was me, my mother in law and then my husband was in his own waiting room by himself. Everyone enjoyed their massages, my guy did an excellent job. My only complaint is that when I specified the pressure I was informed that apparently, I was going to be up charged for a different massage because I wanted firm pressure. The woman at check-out took care of it though. My mother in law decided that we also needed to get a full body scrub and I decided to give it a shot as well. It was definitely a different experience, cant say I'll ever get one again. It was nothing to do with the person who did it but I just don't think its my thing in general. But it was nice that they have a large shower in the room to rinse off after. I wanted to do the steam room afterwards but there was hardly any steam. I then went into the sauna but it was barely hot, so I'm not sure what was going on with that. Another reviewer, mentioned it as well. Overall, it was a nice relaxing day at the spa. read more

The customer service was great. I had to rescheduled less than a hour out, however they were able to adjust their schedule on the fly. The spa was clean calming and relaxing. The aromatherapy treatments was amazing my therapist was attentive and you could feel that she liked her job just like the girls at the front desk. I look forward to going back again! read more

As someone who gets massages regularly, I can confidently say this was the best massage I have ever gotten. I got the deep tissue and Steven was the massage therapist. He has a lot of experience, and it shows. He was super professional, listened to me about my problem areas, and I left feeling like a new person. The spa itself is also beautiful. We get massages every time we go on vacation & we were so excited when we booked our couples massage. When we checked in the next day were were impressed with the facility, but long story short... $460.20 for what we call a 90 minute couples rubdown was not wort it. This place really disappointed me. I truly hate writing negative reviews, but when warranted... The poor rating here was not so much the service or the fact we were unable to even obtain service, as it was the lack of politeness. We arrived for a several night stay at the Tenaya Lodge. I called to arrange a spa session for my wife as a surprise. I had a full conversation with the young lady who answered the phone. This included being told the next day was booked full except for a single appointment with a male masseuse. We discussed availability and that my wife would not have been comfortable with male masseuse and I would have to make an appointment for the day after that. We sorted out a time for a female staff to be there and that was that. This was a significant back and forth conversation about the services available on that day and times. Yet, when we arrived on time for our supposed appointment there was no record of my having spoke to anybody there. While that alone was frustrating what solidified the distaste in my mouth was the sarcastic tone our dilemma was met with. There was absolutely no hint of concern or sympathy. No apologies were offered and we were met with the blank and inpatient stares of the two employees. They offered no alternative or even veiled concern. I certainly believe it wasn't their fault and there was certainly nothing that could be done at that point but even simulated concern would've made at least a small impression. No offers of later appointments. No apologies. No attempt to ascertain what had happened. My wife, not one to let small disappointments affect her shrugged it off. (We were at Yosemite after all so there was a "Plan B" within moments in the form of a great hike.) Regardless, even when we could've made a reservation for a later date during our stay the impression was already made and turned her off to even returning. How can they remedy this situation? Perhaps an improved reservation system or at least mild concern for mishaps even if delivered through the mock sympathy of a Pan Am smile. read more

Very relaxing during a mountain getaway. The massage was amazing. The wet/dry saunas were great as well. My wife and I pretty much had the place to ourselves. They have iced towels for your convenience and full amenities. The lounge area could be a little more relaxing and soothing. Overall, great spa. read more

I was excited about coming about this trip and decided to get a couples massage. I specified that we wanted deep tissue massages. For that reason I asked for 2 male therapists. They generally have stronger hands and can put more pressure on areas that need more attention. By using hands they can also feel the areas that may be tighter than normal. Unfortunately there was only one male available the day we were there so I agreed to have the female therapist. I've had a couple of incredible female therapist in the past and my partner was definitely against having a female. Staff at the front was very welcoming and they showed us around the facility. It was nice pretty much what you would expect paying the prices that you pay for a massage. When we were taken for our massages they asked us if there were any special areas that they needed to concentrate on. I explained that I was sore around my upper back and neck areas and that I would like some concentration there. I also mentioned that I like tons of pressure so if there is an area that seems tighter to not hold back. I have to say that I was extremely disappointed in the massage. A deep tissue massage is supposed to be slow deep strokes. This massage was more like a Thai massage. If I wanted that I'd go to a $40 place anywhere else. Even using her arms and elbows the pressure wasn't great. I feel like the whole thing was rushed and to avoid doing a deep tissue massage she used fast strokes more like a rub down. The also kept pushing on my legs just kind of shaking them. Seemed like useless action to fill time. If you're trying to increase blood flow to the muscles pressure on the muscles gets blood out and releasing it allows the flow of blood into the muscles. It was so bad that my partner was asking what she was doing because it was so loud and distracting. So much for soothing and relaxing. I will say that the customer service was good as far and attitude and personality, but I would not recommend this place. It's over priced for what you get. It was about $420 for both of us including the automatically added 18% If it weren't for everyone being kind, including the the therapists it would have been a 1 star rating from me. I didn't complain about the massage while I was there because I didn't what to ruin the vacation. Yosemite itself is an amazing place and I didn't want negativity to get in the way of enjoying it. I've had many, many massages over the years. I told the therapist I needed a therapeutic massage to work out knots and didn't want a fluffy swedish massage. Boy, did he deliver! I had Richard and he is one of the best massage therapists I've had. He looks like a 'tough guy' with his big bushy beard, but he is OUTSTANDING! He knew the perfect pressure to use....no elbows dug in to my back...yet still unraveled the tension in my upper back beautifully. Thumbs up! read more

Beautiful facility inside a beautiful hotel. The two girls at the front desk were so nice and made a great first impression of the place. The spa was super clean and there were nice amenities included. My masseuse was also super nice and she gave a great massage. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because I felt like my masseuse spent quite a bit of time getting up to get more oil or more hot towels or changing the music or the volume of the music. It detracted from the relaxation of the massage a little bit but overall it was a really nice experience. Would definitely return if I vacation in the area again. read more

I had a 90 minute deep tissue massage and included the foot revitalization treatment. I am unbelievably relaxed. I get massages every other month and usually get one while vacationing. My husband and I had a couples massage and paid $10 each to upgrade both to deep tissue massages. We were both sore from a trail race the day before. My masseur was Donald and he said he has a background in kinesiology. He was able to incorporate some fantastic stretches into my massage! We both loved the massages! The spa itself is great. We were welcomed and led back to the locker rooms where we were provided sandals and robes and shown to a locker. We waited in a couple's relaxation room (they also had separate men's and women's relaxation rooms). After our massages we both took advantage of the dry and steam saunas and showered. The showers were stocked with their shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The rainfall showerhead on the ceiling surprised me when I turned on the water expecting it to come only from the handheld showerhead. All in all, we walked out feeling like a million (relaxed) bucks! We'll definitely be back. read more
