My father who was living with my elderly mother in central Austin began having major difficulties related to cancer. The cancer took a toll on his body. He began to deteriorate quickly after he suffered a mild stroke that was related to the cancer.
I called Asera Care Hospice and the supervisor, Ellie, came out that very day. The interview occurred at my parent's home. It was friendly and thorough and we were offered varying schedules to meet his needs.
My father needed varying amounts of help during the last few months of his life. Whether it was only two hours or later on 24 hour around the clock, the caregivers were always punctual, kind, competent, and listened to his particular requests. They were compassionate.
At one point my father was taken to the ER. They called us at the hospital to check on him when he was acutely ill and when we brought him home with Aseracare Hospice to pass comfortably in his own home, the caretakers were there to support me and my family when he died peacefully in his bed in his favorite room, near his favorite window, and in my mother's arms.
