    Very caring personnel for my 89 year old mom with CHF. Also, very helpful for me. I would definitely choose them again.

I was physically assaulted in front of my son and 10-year-old son (and a police report was filed), so the following DOES apply. I am not a fringe family member; I was directly involved in my son's day-to-day care. I reached out to their corporate compliance division several weeks ago, spoke with someone who promised to get back with me at least by the following week; I never did heard back! I have filed several regulatory complaints but those take time and since my son is already in hospice, we don't know how much time is left My heart is broken and no one seems willing to help. Under 42 CFR § 418.64(d) - Counseling Services and § 418.56(c) - Plan of Care, hospice is required to: Assess the family and caregivers for psychosocial needs related to the patient's terminal illness. Offer counseling and social work interventions to support them in their caregiving role. Help resolve stressors as they affect the patient's care and safety.

I had the best care in the world, best aides, and the very best nurse, Tami Moore Waugh. From the very beginning of this journey she was compassionate, kind, caring, and explained everything so that I could understand it. Whether good or not so good. She kept on top of all my medications and communicated with the doctor if she saw a need for change. She made me feel comfortable with the condition I was in, and would go out of her way to make me more comfortable. Now, praise God, I'm on my own but I miss her terribly. I'm 88 years old so I know it won't be too far off when I may be with Compassus and Tami again. They are fantastic!

Our Care…read moreteam which consisted of Whitney, RN, and Felicia his CNA, and Siera, our social worker were absolutely the best. It was always a high light in our day when they came to the house. They always made me feel better about the care I was giving and were so sweet in the way they cared for my husband. Whitney was my rock and I feel like she has become a beloved member of our family. I was so relieved when she arrived the day my husband passed. She took all of the stress of the situation onto her shoulders and handled it with the love and attention we needed. I would recommend the care team at Suncrest to anyone needing hospice services. The only issue we had was with the supply person, Melissa. For whatever reason she took a dislike to us and refused to supply food for my husband who was on a feeding tube and had to have special supplements. On several occasions he would have had to go with out food for 2 or 3 days if I had not ordered and purchased food myself. At one point, the food she did send us was clotted and no good. When I reported it and asked that more food be sent, she accused me of leaving the food outside in the heat and again procrastinated on sending the replacement. My husband's care team stepped in and stood up for my husband's needs against this obstacle. I can't say how much I appreciate how Whitney, Felicia, and Siera stood behind my husband and I in this difficult time. They really saved the 5 star review in spite of Melissa's shortcomings.

Suncrest was highly recommended by the stroke rehabilitation hospital my mother was in after her stroke. I can't say enough positive things about Suncrest! Everyone I dealt with, from the registered nurses to the social worker to the chaplain was so kind, competent and professional. They assisted with all of the medical equipment my mother needed at her home, special food (she had a PEG feeding tube in her stomach), and were available 24/7 for any issues or questions. I recommend Suncrest Hospice highly to anyone needing hospice care for a loved one.

At least, that's my opinion, after going through this process a few times over the years. That said, not all Hospice providers are equal, and some are more available or less supportive, depending on the facility and your unique situation. I had the support of Odyssey Hospice for a year and a half for a dying relative, which is probably longer than most people use Hospice for a particular instance. My relative was at his home, then at two different facilities during that time, and they weren't facilities where Odyssey normally visits. They were undaunted by this, and made weekly visits anyway. They were able to work with my relative's current doc, who happened to be a visiting geriatric physician and already had a relationship with Hospice in general. So we went ahead with them. The chaplain, Richard, was the bright spot of the entire experience and went above and beyond his role in providing support. I think I stayed with this Odyssey (aptly named) because of him. I'd give him 5 stars. Unfortunately, we were assigned a nurse that we didn't like and were stuck with for the entire time, and they are the one who directs care and support for the patient. She ended up putting a lot of their job on me, making me run around town picking up medical items and medications during my work day, calling me at incessantly at work, and laying on the guilt nice and thick. I dreaded the sound of her voice. I'd give her one star because you're not allowed to give zero. There was some turnover in the social worker department during that time, and while each MSW was decent, it was hard to start over. As far as I can tell, their job consisted of providing lists of facilities and services and listening to me rant while I became increasingly more frustrated. Unfortunately, I still had to do everything myself while I was trying to work and be a mom. Two stars. One thing I'd advise if you're in the situation to need Hospice support is to ask your doc or facility manager which one they'd recommend, and make sure they can support you in your particular situation. Another piece of advice: don't be afraid to switch to another Hospice provider when it turns out they can't. As I've found out later, it's a fairly simple process.

They have answered all my questions and made sure the family is best prepared for the final days of my fathers life. The on call nursing staff have been outstanding. At a time when a real spiritual connection is needed to get through the day I can say, Thank God for " Odyssey"
