I brought two friends from out of town to ash and elm for dinner and I just wanted to update my review to include a kudos for their option to have cider flights without a set number of ciders. Both of my friends aren't big drinkers but were super happy they could have a taste without having to buy a whole drink or flight. We went here for dinner in a Sunday night. It was a but odd to find and in an office building looking place. I think we ended up parking in the apartment parking (oops) but I think there is an actual parking lot for ash and elm but cannot confirm. While jt seems a bit officey when you first walk in, they have used the space well and filled it will cool art walls and lighting. There are lots of windows and lots of space, as well as bar space. It seems clean and nice. We sat down and got a flight of all their seasonal drinks, which we enjoyed! We ended up each ordering one more. I like the juniper one and my fiancé liked the chocolate cherry one. The cider is great always- I have gotten it at other places around Indy and always liked it. The menu looked incredible and I was very excited about the choices. It seemed original and varied. My friend and I ended up splitting the Brie sandwich and the Korean noodles. I loved the Korean noodles and would definitely order them again! The sandwich was good too, and my friend ended up preferring that to the noodles, so it worked out! Came here for a Galentines Night and tried their cider, cheese and macaron flight! It was good! Excuse my ignorance while I haven't visited since their move down Washington St. I came specifically for the 4 Birds Bakery brunch mashup. The space is bright and inviting. The food was great but the service was incredible. Our waitress not only gave me my cidermosa but a small tasting of the cider I chose. The cidermosa was a full pint and a little bit more than I personally can handle at brunch (but that is a personal problem.). They have lots of events lined up including trivia and drag bingo. Always love a good cider after hitting craft beer breweries back to back. The clean, crisp taste of a good cider is a refreshing change of pace after a bunch of beer. For this cidery we had their amazing Marigold Chai cider. I do love Chai Tea and there are stretched where I get it often at coffee shops so it was a no brainer that this cider be the one I pick. And it didn't disappoint in the slightest at all. It had all the crispness a good cider should have with the spices of the chai chiming in. We first went to Ash & Elm in August 2023. It was great then and continues to be great now (we just went last night, having gone about once a month since our first visit). First of all, the ciders are amazing! Two of the flagships are our favorites - Fleeting Youth for me and Wayfinder for my partner. But, the ciders of the month and seasonals are not to be missed! In fact, we joined the Cider of the Month club this year! I love the cider so much that I'm try to get my favorite restaurant in another city to carry it. Second, the food is fantastic. The menu isn't gigantic, but is broad enough to feed everyone in your group, with labeled vegan and gluten-free items. The vegan Brussels sprouts and tofu fries are my go to order; yum! Third, the space is great! It is bright and airy without feeling sterile, due to the warmth of wooden tables and many live plants. Plus, Ash & Elm is open about their support of the queer community, which you can see in signs and decor. Finally, the servers are great! Shoutout to Morgan and Jacquelyn in particular, as they are super kind, and also knowledgeable about the menu and business. Their grand opening is Aug 10 2021 at their new location 1301 Washington street. Went to a soft opening and sampled a few things. The elote fritters were so good they were full of corn and the cilantro cream on the bottom set it off. And the coconut brownie also very good. Can't wait to go back. And the cider is the best. A hidden place kinda near Fletcher place. I'm not positive what the area is called but it's very industrial. They do have a parking lot which was helpful but the signage was a struggle as it's in an office building. I sampled a bunch of ciders and was pleasantly surprised that most of them were really good. Decided to try their Devour Indy menu, and after looking at the main menu, added the basket of fries with garlic aioli and ATOMIC MUSTARD, which is the best dipping mustard I've ever had. It's good for a star all by itself. We also had a cider flight. Sunset tart cherry, sugar plum snowday, maple bourbon smash, and autumtide. Really can't do wrong with any of those, but the autumtide was the best. From the Devour menu, started with the Arancini. It suffered from significant under seasoning. For the main course, it was the turf-n-surf that had a 6oz hand cut steak, 4oz of shrimp, and more delicious fries. The steak suffered the same fate as the Arancini, and I wasn't asked how I would like it cooked (arrived medium-rare). Finished up with a traditional scoop of vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup:) Service was good; she was very helpful. read more

I've tried their cider from a different restaurant and enjoyed it and was able to find the autumntide at total Wine, which was very good. I was very excited to visit the cidery and restaurant. My first visit to Ash & Elm makes me sad that I don't live closer! Parking was easy to navigate because the spaces are marked for A&E customers. The building has multiple businesses but signs to get to A&E are well-marked. I LOVE the atmosphere inside. Several plants around the spaces brighten it up & make you feel at home. There's a beautiful mural on the wall along with some neat art. It's nice & open, and the staff is phenomenal. The FOOD! Definitely come hungry because you will want more of whatever you order. I highly recommend The Cuban, The Smoked Turkey and the Tomato Basil Soup. WOW! Compliments to the chef! The cider is so fresh & sweet without being overly sweet. If you have not visited their location since they opened this space down the street from their ciderhouse, I recommend checking it out. With plenty of seating, they have certain nights where they have games, etc. A flight of ciders will make it easy for you to determine what you like. What is cool about their flights is that you do not have to purchase a certain quantity. I saw a table get every flavor I think or at least it looked like it. I had the Walleye Pike that was surprising, not dry as Walleye Pike tends to be when people cook it whether pan-fried or deep-fried. If you determine that you will want to frequent Ash & Elm, I do recommend considering their cider of the month club. The value is there if you calculate how much each specialty cider is and other perks the club offers. Service was great and the staff is super friendly and nice! I've been to the old location and liked that, but this new one is really swanky. Love the industrial feel and the open airiness of it. We had a great server who was dressed as a mushroom and we dined in on Saturday, October 30. It was recommended that we try the new Seiter called beetle juice and it was delicious. Slight beet flavor and it a little earthly with a good bite. A really good cider. We started off with the elote fritters and those had a great flavor and an aoli sauce that you could slide them into. The lime was just the right touch. I had the Cuban sandwich and fries and the Cuban was delicious. The pickles were spicy and played off the ham quite well. The fries were not great. They tasted like they were air fried but they weren't. The waitress asked me some specifics about why I didn't like them so she could let the kitchen know. I appreciated that. And she got me some chili instead which had a great flavor and was a bit spicy. We shared the Apple cider donuts and dipped them in caramel sauce. Delicious way to end a meal and the evening. I appreciate that now this new location has coffees and desserts which was a little lacking in the other location when the other business closed. Terrific upgrade. I wish they still had the apple cheddar melt. It was my favorite! We really enjoyed our evening and all the staff members that we talk to and especially our waitress. If I would have stopped at the cider flight, an easy 5/5. Some of the best drinks I've had in a long time. Not a single one I didn't like. So complex and delicious! That said, the food was surprisingly bad. I'm not picky, neither is my partner. This was the first time we've ever had completely inedible meals on a date. The Brie, pear, and prosciutto sandwich.... Even if I could have gotten past the burnt, horribly seasoned, oddly floppy focaccia, I'm not sure anyone is asking for giant wedges of Brie rind in bread. I tried a safe order with the roasted turkey sandwich. I have no idea what was so spicy, but that alone was enough to take me out. Not to mention the "bacon jam" made of floppy, gray chunks of meat. I'll absolutely support the cider but there's no way I would order a bit of food here again. This might seem odd, but I don't know how water can even be so bad? This water smelled like it had been stored in the toilet of an old house. It smelled so strongly that we had to move the glasses away. My wife has gluten issues so we heard they were temporarily offering a gluten free fish and chips for lent that ran for several Fridays including today as well as next Friday (3.22.24). It was wonderful, crispy, fresh, piping hot and delicious. Comes with fries with a wide choice of dipping sauces. Ash and Elm offer a wide array of freshly made ciders. Growlers are available and there is a discount on Wednesdays and Sundays. Table service provided by Emily P. was fast, friendly and very helpful and informative. Tried a flight of ciders based on her knowledge and they were all very good. The layout is roomy with large glass windows facing the street for great lighting. Family friendly (room for strollers) with plenty of space between the tables. Looking forward to returning as soon as possible. I attended the 6 year anniversary this past weekend. I really enjoy the ciders here. It's impossible to keep up with all the new flavors so it's fun when they have tasting events. This past event was on the rooftop which was great on a sunny day. The views of downtown aren't bad either. This time I tried the Black & Blue Sangria and the Dark Chocolate Sea Salt. Both are refreshing on a hot day. After tasting for a bit I went into their restaurant for a light meal. I tried the Southwest bowl which was quinoa, kale, Brussel sprouts and rice. It was a good sized bowl and not too heavy. They have a nice eclectic menu with several vegetarian options. I will be back. read more

I'm sort of a new cider fan after discovering Ash & Elm cider during a Girls Pint Out event last year. The Fleeting Youth cider is one of my favorites--it's so refreshing and tart and absolutely perfect for drinking in the shade on a hot day. We were downtown and decided to pop in to get some cider to take home. The cider of the month was strawberry lemonade, so it was a no-brainer to get a couple of 4-packs to take with us. We also got the El Camino Pineapple, which was also pretty tasty. I felt comfortable with the level of social distancing while I was inside, and while I'm not quite ready to eat inside a restaurant yet, I felt like they had appropriate measures in place for the people who chose to do so. I want to start by saying that I rarely leave reviews unless something really stands out to me- good or bad. Also, I really enjoy their cider and recommend that part of their business highly. That being said, this experience my sister and I had this morning was disappointing to put it nicely. I don't know if it was us asking to have the table they sat us at- which was sticky and had clear stains on it and had clear stains on it from the night before- rewashed that rubbed someone the wrong way. But service-wise, this was a mess. We had to ask what the specials were- which was one of the draws to us coming- which are supposed to be something servers should know and tell patrons. We didn't get checked on to see if everything was okay (it wasn't- which I'll get into below) or even if we wanted anything else (I did, but changed my mind when it became clear no one was coming back by our table). Yet somehow the tables near us did get checked on. I'd like to mention also, that we were the 3rd table in the restaurant and early for our reservation, so it was hardly busy. Service aside, the food was where I was really disappointed. Our first mistake was was not specifying how we wanted the eggs we got - but again, isn't the waitress supposed to ask you how you want you eggs cooked . But even so, part of my sister's egg was uncooked as you can see in the picture. Then, the "chicken" that I ordered to go with my waffle was cooked so hard that there was barely even any damn meat in it. It was literally mostly fried skin, which a picture couldn't even do justice. I don't even know how you cook a piece of chicken to get it as hard as that. Overall, I know I won't be eating here again or recommending their food to anyone. I really wish this wasn't the place we picked for our annual New Years Eve brunch. read more

This bright new spacious restaurant is a new location for cider tasting and an expansion of the small menu they had at the old location. I had a great time with a very nice server, delicious food, and good recommendations for ciders to try in my flight! The experience was longer than I expected, but I've been there for a quick stop before too, so I think it's the nature as it was busier! I had salmon which was filling and delicious, it came with risotto and a small arugula salad. My friend got the brisket ravioli, which she said was super delicious but a little on the small side. We started with some appetizers of scallops - small serving but I usually expect this with med to large sized scallops. (They were nice sized definitely not jumbo but not those tiny disappointing ones that can be nothing but overcooked ...) The scallops were cooked perfectly and "Swimming" in this olive oil based sauce for which our server recommended getting some extra bread to dip in and it was a great idea... like two appetizers in one! We also got the AMAZING elote fritters...that sauce! they were kind of like hush puppies with added elote flavors and the sauce was the right amount of tangy to pair with the hearty fritter. They had a deal on some cans so we walked out with a ton of cider! I get to take the experience home....I love trying their specialty ciders and I got a little of all of them....I think it's monthly that they release something new... the last one was old fashioned..which I liked but I expected more bourbon impact from the barrel aging. It seemed to just mellow the tart/frutiness. The parking is intersting...I'm coming from the east and there's a parking lot on Washington St marked TWG/Ivy Tech/Ash & Elm...it seems that there are 2-3 parking lots in that east/west location and for Ash & Elm you can park anywhere from Washington St. south. There is another one west of the building, but I'm not familiar with it. From the East parking lot it's about 1 block walk to the front door, and you enter the main door for the apartment building, and the Ash & Elm entrance is inside! Enjoy! read more

New review, same score. Since my last review, Ash & Elm has moved to their new location, and everything just keeps getting better. I've tried a lot of different cider with an open mind, and it's an easy conclusion to draw that Ash & Elm has the best cider in the country, bar none. It's innovative and variegated and there's a bit for everyone, including people who typically don't go for cider. Now that we know that, the rest of the place is phenomenal, too. The space is a pleasure to be in, inside and out, but the patio is especially a standout. Who knew a cozy and colorful patio could be built right on Washington Street? I think they have a new chef who has made a menu with the best versions of just about every type of food, from bulgogi to mac n' cheese and everything in-between. It's extremely vegetarian friendly but also friendly to carnivores. I don't really understand how they manage to do everything so well, but Ash & Elm just pulls it off, every time. read more

Congrats to Ash & Elm on their gorgeous new space. My husband and I stopped to check out their new digs and were seriously impressed. We got a flight of ciders and all were really good (favorite was Olmo, a "dry, tart, and lively" cider). We also got a snack of the latkes with lox - these were terrific!
