It was a short drive ( less than 20 mins) to trail heads at ash cave and cedar falls. We hiked a total of about 11/12 miles from ash cave to cedar falls to old man's cave and back. We enjoyed the hot tub after that! Check in and check out was seamless, as the office was extremely close to the cabins themselves. We highly recommend.

When we arrived, the front desk staff completed the check-in process and only afterward informed us that the pool was closed. Had we been told this before checking in, we would not have proceeded with the reservation at all. Because the pool was unavailable, we stayed in the room for less than an hour while trying to resolve the issue. The front desk told us they could not cancel since the booking was through Expedia, so we contacted Expedia directly. Expedia reached out to the hotel, but the hotel declined to issue a refund even though we did not stay and primary amenity we booked for was unavailable. Charging nearly $300 for a stay we could not use is unfair, especially when the lack of disclosure prevented us from making an informed decision. We would have never checked in had we been told the pool was closed. I have stay at this hotel many of times and have never had issue this time however was different. The pool was the reason i left however, i was upset already because when we arrived she said there was a 250 deposit which I have never had to pay all the other time we stayed and she was going to cancel then and I said no ill figure it out however if she would have informed me the pool was close before checking us in I would have let her canceled. It took no time for me to start the gas fireplace and run the water to the two person soaking tub and become enveloped in the beautiful scenery around me. After a glass of wine in the tub, I threw on one of the two provided soft robes and cozied up in our king bed and took the best nap of my life. I still had a bottle of wine to finish so when I woke up, I wrapped myself in blankets and sat out on the back porch swing to take in some woodland views. The back porches of the cottages extend the whole length of the cottage and there's no shortage of places to sit and enjoy the views. Kindred Spirits, the on site restaurant is also a gem. Rustic in every good way possible, the food and drinks are fantastic. I can always appreciate a good Old Fashioned, and Kindred Spirits delivered. We were lucky enough to eat here for dinner & breakfast and were highly impressed with the food and unbelievable hospitality. The hospitality also extends to their spa where we were warmly welcomed by staff and enjoyed some amazing massages. If you're looking to spend a weekend away for some R&R I cannot recommend The Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls enough. It was truly unforgettable for me and I cannot wait to return.

There are 2 large bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and a large living/dining area with a fully stocked kitchen. There is a hot tub on the deck which was great for relaxing in the evenings. Also a fire pit and gas grill although you need to choose add on propane tank rental if you want to use the grill. Firewood is also an optional add on. The lodge is surrounded by woods with excellent bird watching. It is also dark enough in the evening for some star gazing. We highly recommend this spot for a family getaway (sleeps 4) - or check out the other great lodging options hosted by the Inn.

I somehow managed to forget to bring an iPhone charger (arguably the most important thing you should bring on any trip) so I went up front to see if they had one on offer and, sure enough, they offered me one right away. I half-expected them to ask for my driver's license or at least room number before entrusting it to me, though they were super casual about it : "It's fine, you can bring it back whenever you're done with it!" Wow, that's a breath of fresh air! The complimentary breakfast here was very nice and had a variety of warm options (not just cold cereal or basic oatmeal like many hotels try to pass off as a meal), and I dutifully returned the charger to the front desk prior to departure, with them accepting it back as casually as they had issued it. Maybe that's more about the nature of people who live around here, though I appreciated it just the same! While I didn't use the pool on this occasion, it did look very appealing, as did the landscaping around the hotel. My favorite part of the Pod was that it was Bluetooth equipped so I was able to play some folk music over the speakers to enhance my woodsy experience. Towels and bottled water are also provided for you in the Pod. We booked an hour, which I thought might be too long in the heat for me personally but after taking the recommended breaks, it didn't feel long enough. I couldn't figure out what it was but the entire building was just loud. Like so loud, I couldn't sleep. Had I known, I would have brought ear plugs and trust me, I have them thanks to living in the city. Despite not being able to sleep my two nights there, and constant loud ass humming all throughout, the rest of the experience was solid. The space was comfy, included all the necessities, and they even plowed the driveway after the snow. I love coming here and the Chalets are a great choice. I just might ask about the sound issues on my next visit.

I am an IHG Diamond Elite and an Intercontinental Ambassador. The problems began with check in when I was told that I would have to pay for an upgrade. If the hotel has a better room available Diamond Elite's get it at no charge. Not here. Two days ago, I returned to my room to discover the toilet disassembled. I had no problem previous with the toilet. Housekeeping took it apart. I went to the front desk and ask the manager what was happening. He immediately went to my room and put on a new handle. Ever since he put the new handle on, the toilet runs continuously. This evening I returned to my room to discover the toilet won't flush. Manager not on property. Kid on front desk says he cannot call a plumber unless the manager tells him to. He also cannot move me to another room because the hotel is sold out. I stay 70+ nites a year in IHG properties and another 25 a year in Marriott properties. This is the first time I have been faced with a situation like this - a non working toilet and a refusal to remedy the situation. Avoid this place at all cost.

They were renovating some of the public areas when we stayed in the winter and they have a bit of a gathering area on the second floor. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean. The breakfast was also well stocked with a staff member available if people needed anything. The two items which didn't stand out...our bathroom sink water would not get hot. The shower was fine but the sink basically never got above standard room temperature. The bigger issue was how loud the room upstairs was down to our room. I swear I could hear every step they took. As luck would have it, we got in after midnight trying to push as far as we could to balance the travel days and our upstairs neighbors were up by 5:30. That's no fault of the hotel obviously but would have been a non-issue with any amount of noise suppression. A fine stop on the road and no reason not to stay but the "ceiling noise" was a lot.
