It was a nice stay. The room was clean, but the walls were pretty thin and I heard a lot of noises throughout the night, including the alarm clock of the phone in the room next to me at 5 AM. The pool was nice for my son and there was a decent breakfast spread. I found the staff to be very friendly and it was a pretty easy and fast check-in process. Parking was fairly easy, even though it was busy at the time of evening we came in. The room did get quite hot, and I couldn't adjust the temperature, so I ended up just turning it off, which gave us a comfortable sleeping atmosphere. Over-all a good stay. read more

This hotel is great if your getting off the highway. This hotel is perfect for sleeping too. The beds are comfy and the bedsheets were clean. Check in went smoothly and it was a pleasant stay. The air conditioner was quiet but idk what was on it? That stuff on the air conditioner filth wasent concerning me because it wasent blowing in the air. The brewer was good and it worked. Big tv stands, big end stands, and what looks to be a 43 inch lg tv. And I do think some of the furniture is dated. But for me that isn't a problem. So I would recommend this hotel for a person that has been on the road all day and needs a rest. read more

Newly renovated. Stayed in room 321 in September 2024, and it was very modern, comfy beds, new furniture, and the bathroom was huge compared to normal hotels. The pool was very clean. Free breakfast in a very nice eating area. Three restaurants on the same street. Way nicer than I expected. read more

The good: This Holiday Inn isn't too far from Hocking Hills. As others have said, their breakfast is much better than the standard make your own waffles and assorted other breadstuffs. They have hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, premade omelettes, the usual variety of bread, doughnuts, bagels and muffins, fresh fruit and a very cool pancake machine where you push a button, it drops batter & bakes them on a conveyor belt. The room has both a microwave and a large refrigerator; I've never seen one this big in a hotel before. There's actually a produce drawer, the freezer compartment was cold enough to freeze bottles of water, and a small pizza box fit in the refrigerator. The not so good: I got a room right under/behind a sign, so I had virtually no view. I was going to ask to be moved, but I figured it would keep the room cooler, as it was a humid weekend and there's no shade around. Right by the window is the air conditioning unit -- and a wet carpet. I called to tell them about it but they apparently chose not to do anything about it while I was still here. (I told them it didn't matter to me, but if it were MY property, you can bet that I'd want to take care of a leak.) I got a late start on the 2nd day I was at the hotel and it probably wasn't until 11:00 - 11:30 that I left the room for the day & removed the tag from the door. But, I saw people cleaning the rooms across the hall, and I even greeted one of the housekeepers. But to my surprise, when I returned around 3:00ish, my room had not been touched. When I told the front desk about it, the young woman said that they have one person who does "stay-overs" and she probably left before I removed the tag. I thought that was odd; I've never been in a hotel when the room wasn't made up routinely (except for extended stay type places. I was excited that the hotel had a pool until I saw it: It's a tiny square pool that's ok for kids to play in, but not for actual swimming, so I skipped it. When I was checking in, the woman in front of me asked if there was a hot tub. The desk person said they used to have one -- as well as some in some of the rooms -- but they took them out. (They also apparently took out drinking fountains as well.) The beds are comfortable, the pillows are ok, and there's a good amount of space. I stayed alone, but I think if there were 2 people, there might not be enough plugs to recharge things: there are 2 on one lamp but only one on the other (I switched the lamps, as they had the one with only 1 outlet by the bed), and there is one wall outlet. All in all, this hotel is fine. read more

Room is clean and spacious. Nice quality toiletries and a K-cup machine with tea and coffee in the room. The whole property could use a facelift but who really cares. There are couple of touristy restaurants within walking distance. The breakfast is definitely better than most hotel breakfasts. They have almond milk and many hot items. The hotel was just teeming with kids on a random July weekend. They seemed to be having a 100m dash competition in the hallways. But hey, it's a goddamn Holiday Inn! They didn't stop me from sleeping or anything. read more

The rooms are run down and not clean at all, the furniture is old, scratched and dented, and the mattresses were sagging. This hotel is VERY loud, so if you want to actually sleep, go somewhere else. The breakfast is a joke. We went down to breakfast at 9:00 (it ended at 9:30) and there was absolutely ZERO food left - except a few oranges and green bananas. There wasn't even milk for cereal! It was a horrible experience and I will never return. read more

Excellent location for Hocking Hills parks. Rooms are a bit tired and worn but very clean. Breakfast was amazing!

Despite signs all over the hotel informing guests that masks are MANDATORY in public areas, no guests were wearing masks while getting food at the buffet. There were 15-20 people, maskless, breathing and aspirating on the food! I brought my concerns to the hotel management and they refused to do anything about it despite their stated policy of MANDATORY masks in public areas. read more

I was very pleased with our selection of accomodations near the Buckeye Trail attractions of Old Man's Cave, Cedar Falls, and Ash Cave. The drive to the Old Man's Cave trailhead is only about 10 to 11 miles and there is a fantastic rib's place (Millstone BBQ) just down the road within sight of the hotel. (See my review of them, as well.) They serve continental-style breakfast which was quite welcome to us when we were trying to get an early start for hiking. Other amenities include free wi-fi and an indoor pool. Oh, and, how could I forget to mention their shower. Oh, it was exquisite -- just the right amount of pressure and hot. Ok, maybe after a hike, any shower would have felt good, but the next morning it still felt just as devine. read more

Was great until the morning we left on the 10th of June 2021. When we got in the car to leave the hotel I noticed my legs were covered in bites. Every day the bites would grow bigger and more painful. On the 6th day since getting the bites I visited the doctor and she confirmed that they were indeed bed bug bites. I had such a bad reaction from the bites I was prescribed prednisone. I had 16 bites all together on my body and half of them were the size of quarters. I have had to wear long sleeves and pants to cover my giant red bites. We where in room 124 for 2 nights. This was my first time experiencing bed bug bites. So now we will make sure to check for bed bugs at every hotel we risk staying at. read more

Pros: Staff were nice and attentive. They provide complimentary toiletries (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner), and if additional toiletries like toothbrush or toothpaste is needed, they have a sign to call the front desk to obtain some. Due to covid, they provided to-go bags for breakfast. Our bag had 3 items: nutri bar, muffin, and fruit cup; good sustenance to start the day. Cons: The rooms are poorly maintained. We booked a room with 2 queen beds for 2 nights. The first room they placed us in, the toilet had yellowish stains and flush was broken. Front desk was very accomodating to switch us into another room. The second room had a weird smell (cant tell if its smoke or stagnant air smell; we opened the window but the smell lingered) and the sheet of the bed nearest the window had a smudge whiteish stain. read more

If you are a regular at Holiday Inn Express hotels, this is your average, run of the mill location. Nothing makes this HIE stand out other than the location proximity to the popular Millstone BBQ Restaurant within spitting distance. It's tourist season in the Hocking Hills area so the hotel was busy, the pool overcrowded, and the breakfast bar taxed at peak times. read more

The room was quiet and clean but had a slight smell. The toilet ran. The bed was comfortable. Wi-fi was included in the price. We were supposed to get premium TV channels but did not. The front desk said that they would look into the channels but never fixed them. The included breakfast had foods such as eggs, sausage, oatmeal, juice, bananas, milk, and pancakes. The hotel is conveniently located near a couple of restaurants (which are supposed to give a 10% discount to guests) and is a short driving distance to area attractions. They have a pool, fitness center, and business center, but I did not use them. When I return to Hocking Hills in the future, I will probably stay at this hotel again. read more

2nd time staying here and it's a great hotel. Clean rooms is the best part. Great people. Well stocked breakfast. Great parking. Only downside is the pool isn't always kept to the right concentration of chlorine/chemicals causing discomfort and kids to complain. Wifi slow. Recommended though. read more

This stay was a horrible experience. I booked for 3 Days but I stay was cut short because of the noise that was nonstop over our room. I reported it to the front desk and she said it was nothing she could do. The walls and ceilings are paper thin when you can hear nonstop walking and even running back in forth across the floor all night s d all day. They never cleaned our room .. I had to call down for clean towels and washcloths and soaps.. the refri never got cold. I decided to go to Columbus for my last day here in Ohio so I can get good customer service. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Overpriced at 159.00 per night .. Needs to be renovated. Staying at an upscale Marriott is. $50.00 cheaper per night with awesome service read more

5 stars from us....no, it's not the Ritz Carlton but for the class of hotel this place was top notch. Clean. Friendly employees. Comfy beds. Good free breakfast. No musty hotel smell. Added bonus for us was that it is pet friendly and even the pet friendly rooms don't smell like pets nor did we find any indication a pet had been in there previously. We stayed here twice in 4 days when passing through on a long weekend road trip. This will now be our go to stop. When we went to book our return trip they were already sold out but gladly put our name on a wait list. I was so happy when I received a phone call that they had a room as you just never know if they actually pay attention to those wait lists. read more

My family stayed here because of it's great location to Hocking Hills and Lake Logan. It is off a quiet road (next to Lake Logan) and walking distance to 2 very good restaurants. The front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. The lobby is very welcoming with a fireplace and a really cool dining table made out of a rough cut plank of a tree. The room was spacious and comfortable and the keurig was a bonus. The beds were very comfortable and even the pillows were good. The complementary breakfast was very well stocked and delicious. Free wifi, microwave and refrigerator in room. Now for the things that weren't so good. 1. Shortly after arriving in the room my allergies started acting up. The culprit was the air filters in the heating/cooling unit. They were packed with dust and dirt from not having been cleaned in a while. I removed them and took them to the front desk asking if there was a vacuum I could access so I could clean them. The clerk was embarrassed and took them from me to clean. I told her that this was actually not the worst I have seen compared to other hotels, and thanked her for her help. 2. While waiting for the filters to be cleaned, I wandered into the pool area and was glad that we forgot to pack swimsuits. It wasn't a big deal that the hot tub wasn't in service, but the pool had some kind of suspicious looking brown stuff on the bottom which was off-putting even for someone who would swim in a creek. The pool was also very small. On the plus side It did have a fitness center (albeit small) with an elliptical and treadmill which was nice. 3. Now, we reserved the room for 4 people but noticed upon arriving the bathroom linens and cups were set up for 3 guests. No big deal, I went to the front desk (again) and asked for more towels and cups/coffee (our room was close). We left a note for housekeeping while we were out the following day asking for towels and cups/coffee for 4 people. When we returned from a day of hiking we had towels and cups/coffee for 3 people. Housekeeping was kind enough to leave US a note on the unmade bed letting us know that since a personal item had been left on the bed, it could not be made. The offending item? A small travel pillow. Not a laptop. Not a purse. Not a leather coat. An 8" x 12" pillow. On a bed. I'm sure this is not normal for a place where everything else is so nice, and it was not enough to keep me from staying again in the future. read more

My husband and I stayed overnight here for OU's Homecoming weekend. It is a very, very nice hotel! Looks brand new. Nice pool area, breakfast was surprisingly good. All of the staff we encountered were super nice and helpful. The room was very nice, beds comfortable, nice size fridge. Would recommend this hotel and will most definitely be staying here much! Much cheaper than uptown Athens and only 25 minutes from campus. read more

Clean hotel convenient for me to get to my boat that's docked down the road. Right across the street is a Mexican restaurant which I like a lot and also down the street is a bbq joint. The rooms are clean and the staff are nice. It's a little over priced but I'm assuming cause it's fall and they can get away with higher prices. They now have breakfast till noon on weekends which is awesome. Would stay here again, I have stayed before. Definitely a place I would recommend!!!! read more

Upon check-in at 5:45 pm we had to wait with three other families for 50 minutes before our rooms were ready, due to them being short handed with housekeeping! I wanted a discount, but had pre-paid with Orbitz. Upon check out I was given an additional bill from the hotel (a double charge), that they reversed. Room was ok to good, bed was quite firm and lumpy, breakfast was really good and well tended. Pool very small and always crowded during our stay. read more

My trip was planned maybe a week in advanced so we didn't know very much about anything down in Hocking Hills, but this hotel was recommended by a friend to us. I'm so glad they did because it was amazing. The front desk was very helpful, and friendly (they even gave us a printed out booklet about the different caves and waterfalls, mentioning which ones they'd recommend the most). Though, unfortunately, we had to wait about an hour for our rooms if we wanted them anywhere close to each other. The rooms themselves are very clean. When we went to the pool, the doors themselves to get in were kind of on the fritz so we had to have someone on the inside of the pool area let us in. The pool was a little small compared to others I've seen at hotels, and the water was cold. The hot tub wasn't much better, it was very tiny as well and the water was way too hot. The only good part is that it's open 24 hours a day. And there's a small workout area next to it as well, which is nice for a girl like me who works out almost every day. It didn't have a lot of equipment but just enough to work with. I absolutely loved the continental breakfast, the food was great with a decent variety for such a small area. There was a little bit of everything there pancakes, eggs, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, biscuits and gravy, muffins, etc. Though, at times the area down there gets packed and it's hard to find a place to sit and eat breakfast. I went about an hour after it started the first time and it was packed, but the second day I went a half hour after it started...that made a huge difference in finding a place to sit. There was always food out as well, I noticed the attending coming out every few minutes with more food. This is definitely a great place to stay while in Hocking Hills! read more

Soon as I walked in I was greeted with a smile by Diane and was able to make a reservation even on Valentine's Day night even offered to give me AAA discount when I searched on the web for a lower price. Very clean. The staff was friendly and the breakfast bar was the best one I've been to the girl attending constantly was putting food up even until closing time at 10 AM highly recommend here if staying in the Hocking Hills area. read more

Overall, this hotel was great. The breakfast was so much better than most other hotels and the pool was very clean and warm. They gave us new shampoos everyday and included a Keurig coffee machine with 3 pods. The TV guide had all the wrong channels which was confusing and I wished that they vacuumed the floors because after hiking everyday there was mud everywhere! Or was very affordable and I hope to stay here again. read more
