What a nice way to celebrate a friends birthday having high tea at Ashes. Ashes has easy parking about a block away from the beach and across the street from one of my favorite little shopping spots for crafty home goods. The front of Ashes is a boutique that sells some very nice sportswear and casual clothing. The tearoom is located in the back of the shop. It's small but was able to accommodate our group of eight. They started us off with some complementary crackers served with a type of cranberry spreadable cream cheese. For lunch we all chose the tea service which came with a pot of tea, some finger sandwiches and dessert. If you're a tea lover this is your place. They had so many varieties. I had some sort of vanilla (decaf) & it was yummy. The sandwiches are served on a tiered platter surrounded by some fruit. The pimento cheese served on raisin bread was delicious. We also had chicken salad on croissant. There was a little problem with our chicken salad but they took care of it immediately and made us all new sandwiches. Dessert was delicious. A tiny apricot tart, a little lemon scone & a delicious pumpkin type of cobbler. We all had a lovely afternoon celebrating our friend's birthday. They do a mommy and me service too. My first tea room. It's a little tiny house. The front is a boutique with comfy but stylish clothes, and every little cute thing you could want including their teas. The back two bedrooms each had two or three tables set up elegantly accompanied with it beautifully decorated. My girlfriend decided to get iced tea where I got hot tea and both were excellent ...and then we went for the ultimate set-up that had everything from tea sandwiches to fruits and just enough food for two. I recommended Ashes' Boutique and Tea Room to my sister-in-law and we just hosted her baby shower there. While the space is small, it does provide a very quaint and intimate setting. We had delicious tea sandwiches accompanied with iced peach tea. If I could've taken a gallon of at home, I would have. The afternoon was finished with the wedding blend hot tea, and an assortment of desserts that were also delicious. If you're looking for a larger space, I wouldn't necessarily recommend here as space is limited and movement around the venue is tight. But if you're looking for your next afternoon tea with friends, I can't recommend this place enough. Perfectly quaint and located at the beach does add a nice touch. read more

Had a lovely high noon tea today. We ordered the wedding tea, vintage tea, and the valentine tea. We all thoroughly enjoyed the teas and drank the entire pot of each. We even purchased some for home. The mini sandwich variety was good- our favorite was the chicken salad, but I enjoyed the pimiento cheese and raisin bread combo too. The desserts were good- my favorite was the warm orange marmalade one. The clothes in the front of the store were soooooo cute! I wanted to buy one of everything. I liked the white beach vibe. Our Ashes' Boutique and Tea Garden luncheon with my CA kiddos last week was lovely. We had two tables in a private room with exquisite white Amaryllis gracing each table. My 9 year old granddaughter was enthralled. She ordered from the children's menu and had the most elaborate results. She ordered the children's tea sandwiches and requested they all be the strawberries and cream ones. They arrived on a three tiered very impressive tray! The delight on her face was heart warming. The sandwiches were made on mini croissants and were as yummy as they were artistic. She also received a generous dessert of vanilla ice cream topped with a mound of whipped cream and a strawberry on top! Her older brother ordered Brie encroute with a side salad, as did I, with and our own big pots of herbal tea. Their Mom and Dad were at the adjoining table and each ordered something different to share. We were there for a leisurely luncheon and loved every minute, every sip and morsel! My daughter wanted a tea experience for her birthday, so the search was on. We've tried a couple of others in our area but they didn't ticket all the boxes, so with cautious optimism we stepped into Ashes' Boutique. Fortunately, Ashes' delivered! Variety of teas to choose? Check! Individual pot of tea per person? Check! Carb free options? Check! Delicious sandwiches? Check! Yummy pastries? You guessed it, check! You walk into the boutique where they have a collection of lovely clothing. There is also a table with jars of labeled teas for you to smell and peruse, deciding which one you'd like to have without only reading a description. This is a great idea and really helped us make our choices. They even had one on display that didn't make the menu, and we were able to order it by name. The interior is absolutely lovely. You pass toward the rear into the tea room section where two rooms are beautifully decorated. It is not a huge space, but ample and cozy. The menu allows great flexibility to only order what you want, with choices from soup of the day, to salads, to sandwiches. You can also order the afternoon tea which includes sandwiches and pastries. This makes it easy to accommodate everyone on the party and order exactly what you want. Everything was delicious, service was excellent, and the tea was perfect! We had a great birthday tea, including a gift of tea bags for the birthday girl. Tips: There is one bathroom that also serves as the changing room for the boutique, so be aware. Tea makes you, er...well, you know. Parking was easy to find across the street, but I imagine during beach season this might be a little more difficult as you are a stone's throw from the ocean. There is a cute shop across the street that sells artisan crafts and other treasures if you need to idle a few minutes. Happy to say we've found our tea house and will be back next year if not sooner! read more

A wonderful tea experience! Ashes is just such a nice quaint tea room I feel is widely underrated. Their charm fills each small room they have with their shabby chic decor and lace accessories. The tea options are divine and the food options you get for pairing is just melt in your mouth goodness! My spouse and I very much enjoyed our high tea at Ashes' Boutique and Tea Garden, though by this point we have a lot of high tea experiences to compare it to. The selection of actual teas to drink was slimmer than I expected, though there were some very fine choices among their menu, and I was very satisfied with the "Florence" while my spouse had the "Paris". The various finger sandwiches, biscuits, and pastries were excellent, and they were both delicious and filling. (Their first available tea time was 11:00 am.) Our server was attentive and prompt, though there was one minor miscommunication. The only somewhat meaningful issue was that the lemon curd was overly sweet. I am therefore torn between a five-star review and a four-star review. The cost of the experience was a little on the high side for a "two-$" establishment, so with a heavy heart, I must rate this as a 4-star out of 5 experience. read more

I was so looking forward to this tea with my mom and son. I appreciate that the lovely owner provided this hard to come by experience. However, it was a bit of a let down. The walls had numerous nail holes and scratches. The server had a filthy apron, like beyond. Plates were wet when placed in front of us. And, not to sound like Larry David, but that scone was NOT a scone. Scones should have a hard exterior. This was like a wet tea cake. Manager said that was her version of a scone. They have a good selection of teas coupled with 3 courses is the perfect afternoon treat. The first course is a sweetened cream cheese spread with nuts and cranberries served with crackers. Then the second course is a two tier tray of fruit, pastries and tea sandwiches. The sandwiches consist of pimento on raisin bread, cucumber cream cheese and a chicken salad. Then for dessert they offer a coconut cake, a scone and some other sweet treat. This is definately the perfect amount of food for two. I have been to Ashes' Boutique a few times for their tea service. They are located just a couple blocks from the beach in a converted house. The boutique has a cute store in the front and does the tea services in the back. There are two or three rooms for tea. Reservations are required and it can sometimes take a couple weeks to get a reservation. Each time I have been I have had the tea service where you get a little taster with cheese and crackers followed by a variety of sandwich tastings then dessert. Each person gets their own pot of tea. They have somewhere around 10 teas to choose from. There is definitely something for everything. Most teas are served unsweet however they do have sugar and honey if you want it sweet. The food is good. Everything is a bit on the sweeter side but it is all tasty. The cost for the three courses is, I believe $17. However they do have options for just fresh fruit, just dessert and other options. He hostesses are very nice and attentive. The decor inside is quite kitschy but fits the environment. The owner is nice. The gift shop sells a little bit of everything from clothing and accessories to bath salts and lotions and they also sell the teas they serve. I would suggest going to Ashes' if you like a nice relaxing outing and enjoy good tea. read more

I've had this place bookmarked for years and I'm sad that I waited this long to visit. This was my first time doing tea service so I don't have anything to compare it to but all I can say is Ashes has set the bar high! I made reservations to make sure we had a table since it's not a big place. When you enter you'll see the boutique side, cute stuff for women and children. We were seated right away and our waitress was great! Ok on to the food and tea. I had the afternoon tea, comes with a pot of tea, sandwiches, desserts and fruits. Called to make a reservation for a Christmas themed high tea. I was told they were offering a special Christmas tea. I asked if they were able to accommodate a vegan diet. I was told a couple of times when I made the reservation and confirmed it that they could. When my daughter and I arrived we had a reservation. There was a table open but when we asked why we could not be seated we were told that it was reserved for a reservation after ours! There was no special Christmas high tea and there were no vegan options. Very disappointed. The service was slow and we never got the milk for the tea we asked for 3 times. I just had my bridal shower here at Ashes' this past weekend. Overall it was an adorable venue and the food and tea was delicious. The owner is incredibly sweet and very easy to talk to! We also were able to bring our own champagne which was a wonderful bonus (however, you will need to provide your own glasses). I will say, however, with the place being so small we all were very warm (could have used some more AC) and our teas (both hot and iced) were not replenished whatsoever. The staff serving seemed uncomfortable so maybe that's why they didn't replenish? Either way, it was not necessarily a cheap event, so that was rather disappointing. Overall, I'd love to come back and try this place again just for fun with a friend or two, and would recommend this place for a unique weekend thing to do! read more

This was an amazing experience! We held a friend's bridal shower here. Dana and her waitstaff were on point! They were so easy to work with and extremely accommodating! They helped the flow of the party while serving food and drinks. They cut our cake and served it with our pre-planned desserts.
