I love this shop, it's been mostly the same since I was a very little kid. There is a huge variety of souvenirs, everything from beautiful towels, paper weights, magnets, key chains, clothing, etc. It's a lot bigger than it looks like from the outside. We bought a Jax Beach frame, a magnet and a pretty red quartz decorative piece. They have decent prices and better quality items. The owner was friendly and helpful. This spot is amazing, I needed some flip flops and the staff was super friendly. They have everything & I mean EVERYTHING you need for the beach at reasonable prices and souvenirs. They also have some pokemon cards & I know this because when I was standing in line the staff was helping out this kid pick a pack of cards, he didn't rush him and was very friendly and attentive making sure he got a cool pack of cards, during that interaction I found out it is a family run place and he was the son of the owner. During my checkout he and his sister assured me I got the best flip flops in the store & they are comfortable and extremely durable! Bought a beach umbrella for $28.98. Windy day at beach. Bought secure manual crank to keep it in the sand. Wind tore the umbrella apart. Receipt say no refunds but it doesn't say it can't be exchanged. Women's excuse for not exchanging the umbrella 1 hour after purchase was "we can't control the weather" I just left it there next to the other umbrellas. I spent over $100 in their store but they couldn't replace the umbrella. read more

First of all, I purchased two really pretty beach dresses, but the fairy statues were so unique that I went back three times to buy them. Visited on 11/23/18 for the first time and this shop has a LOT of goodies to choose from! You might need a suitcase to take home gifts So many trinkets and oceanside treasures - I wanted to buy so many cool things but knew I had limited space in my luggage lol The shop proprietor was so helpful and nice! She even provided a recommendation for a local place to eat down the pier, which was PHENOMENAL (see my Seaside Cantina review). Oh yea, get your beach on....... This place has everything AND you can afford it! Sea Shells and Souvenirs is in what used to house the old Beach Arcade. The Arcade was in the spot from at least 1944 to the early '90's. I know because the owner and I stood around and talked to the gentlemen that ran it from '44 to the mid '50's. That was very interesting. How just like the beach to find a gem of a person with an impromptu history lesson! Back to shopping! Sea Shells has a lot of everything. Need to go to the beach for under $40 a person. They have you covered with enough left over to get a magnet or necklace, anklet or beach volley ball. Everything we saw was of moderate to good quality and some of the collectibles (like the fairies) were beautiful. The girls were hooked when they saw the jewelry isle. Aunt Abby and I kept holding up sundresses for each other and then hollering "hey, come look at this" ! How very southern except there was no beer involved. LOL What can I say, if you see me out in a cute dress or sandals, you won't have to ask where I got it, We all know......... read more

This place was a great little souvenir shop. Seashells, wind chimes, shot glasses, coffee cups, tumblers, tees and more . Reasonable prices as well. The neighboring shop is owned by the same family and its great as well. Between the two I was able to get all of my souvenirs reasonably priced. My daughter stopped in looking for a novelty lighter that said Jacksonville on it after not seeing one she was about to leave and decided to ask the guy working the counter. I wish I took picture of this place 'cause it's so friggin' awesome. No words describe how kitsch this place truly is. Imagine that really cool friend you had as a kid who had the crazy mom who was never without her cigarette's embers hanging ever so delicately over her mumu, hair in curlers and always collecting odd lawn ornaments and cats. Imagine all the really old cool weird stuff you'd see in their home: crying clown on velvet, the Elvis lamp, the Felix the cat clock, the giant conch shell that doubled as a back scratcher/ashtray. This is the place she got all that cool stuff. I got drawn in by the cool signs and promises of seashells and souvenirs after remembering I had yet to acquire one single souvenir during my trip. I pulled up in my yellow VW bug (a rental, I swear) and lost myself in the puppets, the rows and rows of pirate gear and magnets! Magnets! Walls and walls of magnets! This is the end all be all of mugs, shells, t-shirts, and keychains. I found the best magnets with moving flamingos, large ceramic molds of pirate ships (pirate ships!!!) and an excellent selection of hot sauce. I never considered myself a souvenir junkie but I could definitely get silly over the really cool knick knacks from this gigantic seashell hut indeed. The owner is splendidly candid and always has a good story for you depending on where you're from. He's like a bartender, minus the full bar behind him. read more

We were in Jacksonville due to my hubby getting a liver transplant. We wanted to buy our family members t-shirts that said Jacksonville Florida. We were driving around and we checked out about 4 shops until we found Sea Shells & Souvenirs. What a great shop! It has a huge inventory and everything was so affordable. The customer service was top notch, very friendly & helpful. I also bought the cutest refrigerator magnets that were crabs with wiggly legs. They were a nice size and only cost a little over $5. My mom was visiting from Alaska and we were pleasantly surprised with this place. It's a big shop with a huge selection, right next to the beach. The prices are very affordable and this is the perfect spot to bring visitors to pick up souvenirs! They've got clothes, knick knacks, candy, shark teeth, beach towels, shells, starfish, sand dollars, just to name a few. This place is definitely worth a visit! This place overcharges people. They did it to me and my daughters friend over $15 a piece. My daughters friend said something about it to the older blonde lady working the register, instead of the lady verifying her math, she proceeded to be confrontational with my daughter's friend. Because she's guilty and she knew it. She said I'm just trying to run a business. If you're gonna run a business you need to learn how to put yourself in the customers shoes and maybe take a chance to try and see it from their point of view. She refused to do that. I do not recommend supporting this local business. And if you do shop here please utilize a calculator and a tax calculator that you can also find on Google because the little bit bitches in here think that money grows on fucking trees and that they can just take advantage of people, WHICH THEY ARE, so please be mindful of the calculations on the marked prices of the items that you purchase and be mindful of how the employees working the register add their numbers together BECAUSE IF THEY THINK THEY CAN RIP YOU OFF THEY MOST DEFINITELY WILL. BETTER YET DONT EVEN SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS BECAUSE THEY DONT EVEN DESERVE IT. Wish I didn't have to leave one star. I don't think they deserve any. read more

I discourage shopping at this store. The owner of this store, Gary Messer, was very rude to me when I returned to the store to return defective merchandise. I purchased 5 swim rings on 2/18/12 for a wedding to be used to float floral arrangements in a lake. I inflated the rings and found three of them deflated within 24 hours. I returned to the store on 2/23/12 and explained the rings deflating to the cashier. I purchased 5 additional rings to try again. The cashier apologized and advised me to return the rings before 4:00 and see the manager if they again deflate. I inflated three of the second batch of rings on 2/24/12 for the wedding on the 25th. When I returned to the wedding site the next morning the rings were again deflated. Mr. Messer would not accept the defective merchandise back, he went on to inform me that his store was not Kmart or Target, and I could not return used merchandise. I tried explaining that I was unable to use the defective rings, but he interrupted me and again started telling me he was not Target or Kmart and that I was not going to get away with using something and then trying to return it to his store. I was being truthful with him, not lying about using the merchandise. Yes, I opened the packages and inflated the rings but was unable to use them for the purpose the were purchased for. Blow up a few of those rings yourself Mr. Messer and you will see they will not hold air for long. It's pretty bad when you wife steps in and says "Enough Gary" to your statements and acquisitions to a customer. I'm sure if I were ever to UPGRADE and shop at either Target or Kmart, their customer service skills will far exceed yours. read more
