I was scheduled for an MRI on Jan 28, 2025, I really wanted to get htis done as soon as possible.. my referral was sent in Jan 14th... i called Open MRI to see if there were any cancellations..i was told i would be put on a cancellation list. On Jan 21st i received a call that there was an opening in the afternoon.. Everyone I came in contact with was pleasant and helpful.. My experience there was great.. My only negative is that the TV's they have on are either game shows or HGTV...To calm people they need some calming music along with beautiful pictures of our area coming across the TV screen... read more

They Tried to get me to pay for CT due to lack of inc approval. My inc does not need approval and covers the procedure. They said my insurance had not approved it and I was declined when my insurance does not need approval for their services. Make sure you read all 24 pages of their form carefully. The form where I caught them billing me was in the middle of the 24 pages. Then the lady tried to tell me just to go to sign it and skip over. It would be OK. I said no. I was right. They were trying to charge me instead of my insurance. if I hadn't saw that page, I would've signed and they would've billed me instead of inc. I had never had an MRI before, so was super nervous on what to expect. The technician was super friendly, and walked me through everything- every step of the way. The only negative (why this gets 4 stars instead of 5) is that I had a bit of a wait for my turn. My MRI appointment was at 1pm, and I left around 2:30. The MRI itself only took about 20-25 minutes, so the majority of that time was me waiting. Not a big deal, but when my nerves were already so high, I would have appreciated being able to get it over with vs waiting. All in all though, I totally recommend Open MRI; everyone was professional and the price was great. read more

I wouldn't even leave a One star, but apparently it is required. My husband's Dr. had been trying and trying to get an appointment scheduled via phone for a couple of weeks. Either the phone rang and rang or when they got through, they were told that whoever does the prior authorization was busy and couldn't take their call. He finally gets an appointment and receives a text to call the office number for instructions for his CT. My husband called and called, and same thing...no one answered. He is a utility lineman and works in areas with little to no service. Since he never got anyone and had to travel back to the jobsite, he asked me to call and get instructions. I called three times, in between meetings that I was in and finally, after 16 minutes of wait time, I get a person. I explain that my husband was scheduled for a CT the next morning and I was calling to obtain the instructions on what he needed to do before arriving. I also explain the reason that I was calling and not him, and she states, "yes, the phone just rings all the time". She proceeded to get his birthdate and name, but she wouldn't give me the instructions or any info, since she didn't have his permission to talk to me. Y'all, I work in health care and have for 15 years...this woman was not giving me any PHI (protected health information), so therefore, there shouldn't have been any issue with giving me instructions for the CT scan. He wasn't even a patient yet...so there was not any PHI to release. The text read, " Open MRI and Imaging of Asheville : Thu 9/19/2024, please call for IMPORTANT safety, prep, arrival and financial info 828-250-0181 option 3. Text Y=Confirm N= Cancel END= Optout." This wouldn't qualify as PHI. Apparently, a person is expected to stay on the phone, all day long, just to find out what they need to do for a scheduled exam with this bunch. How is he supposed to give her permission, if he can't even get through? We live 45 minutes away in a different county, so it is not like we can just go on in, most likely to be turned away...Not happy at all with this place and haven't even darkened the doors. read more

Okay, so I have mixed feelings about this place. I usually go to the imaging place down the street for X-rays and ct scans, but my doctor recommended this place instead, so I gave it a shot. I had an order for both X-rays and an MRI. They scheduled my X-ray for 4:30, and my MRI for 5:00 so I could get them both done in one appointment and asked me to arrive 15 minutes before my appointment to fill out paperwork. So I arrived at 4:15 PM and got my paperwork completed in plenty of time before my appointment. My X-rays were on time, and took about 5 minutes to complete. Upon first impressions: Unlike the place down the street, there's not as much foot traffic and the changing rooms are a bit more private and comfortable. So those are benefits. Also, the staff is very friendly in comparison. However here is where it went downhill. I waited in the waiting room for 45 minutes before the lady called me back for my MRI at 5:30. She claimed that my MRI was scheduled for that time, which is either her not wanting to admit they were 30 minutes behind schedule, or they actually scheduled my two appointments an hour apart. Either way is frustrating. After my MRI, she gave me a disc with my imaging (something the other facility does NOT do, so that was cool, but I had to wait another 10 minutes after my appointment was over to get it). So to sum it all up... I arrived for my appointment(s) at 4:15, and I didn't leave the building until 6:30. 2 hours and 15 minutes to get in and out. Had I known that I was going to a facility that took so long to process you (like the dmv), I would have packed a snack and brought my phone charger. I'm not really sold on the smaller foot traffic and getting a CD as being the best trade off for an incredible wait period. I might be willing to give them another shot because it's possible that this was a rare fluke, I dunno. read more

Stay away!!! Not my first bad experience. Will never return here. So disorganized and unprofessional. The staff does not know how to find the orders or check you in accurately. The staff tells you one policy, then changes that policy and cancels the appointment. An 80 year old woman was not told she needed to answer questions when she scheduled or her appointment would be cancelled. She was denied service as was I with similar inaccurate employee responses. Awful - stay away. Save yourself so much wasted time and frustration. Wish I could post zero stars. read more

The staff here were very kind and understanding. They allowed me to reschedule a few times to allow my mom to come with me. The nurse who performed my CT was wonderful and understood when I had a panic attack getting the IV. That's just something that happens when I get an IV, it is not at all a reflection of the nurse. She was kind and consoled me and stopped the procedure when I asked. Next time I visit, I'll take some medication ahead of time to better prepare myself. Overall, I had a very good experience here and would recommend their facility to anyone. read more

My appointment was on A Saturday, I assume because I heard they were closed during the start of this flu thing and just reopened. Anyway this was my 4th MRI here and as usual I was impressed with the staff. Very professional and friendly. I can not say enough good things about the facility and staff. I can spend a a full day, expressing the wonderful experience that I had here. These woman were true blessings during my visit. They saw me struggling and knew I was come from out of town and probably in pain. They assisted me with a wheelchair and did their best to register and complete my test gently and quickly. Then, my family and I had then unfortunate experience of breaking down in front of their facility. These beautiful women literally held our hand through this trying time until my daughter and son-in-law came to save us. They made sure that my grandchildren and food and drinks and use of the facilities until they came. These women went so beyond than just general care....Showed love and respect that would swell your heart...My family loves and appreciate yall so much...Thank-you read more

I was seen for a MRI of my hip on June 21, 2022. The appointment time was for 6:30 pm which was great as it kept me from having to miss work. I appreciate the ability to schedule later appointments for those of us who work daily until 5pm or later. The staff was all professional, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. This was my first experience having an MRI I was patiently explained the procedure, what to expect and a estimate of how long the procedure would take. I was given the ability to use headphones to listen to music during the procedure to help me relax and given a button I could press if I became uncomfortable and needed to stop the exam immediantly. They were patient and understianding of my anxiety. They talked to me throughout the procedure to help make me feel more at ease. It was a very positive experience and I am grateful for the staff and their helpfulness. read more

This place is horrible. Whatever B!t$h was working the front should be fired. She was lazy, rude and unhelpful. She refused to honor a pre-authorized amount that they authorized. They rescheduled the first visit because they couldn't get pre authorization in time. I called insurance and it took about 3 min to get it pre authorized. Why doctors are referring here is beyond me. I was scheduled for an open MRI at Open MRI of Asheville. Instead, I was put into a small MRI tunnel up to my head. I expressed my concern with being able to handle it with my claustrophobia and anxiety. as well as my current pain level. I am passing a kidney stone and my right kidney was on a hard board. The tech made no effort to pad the kidney. After 20 minutes, I was in blinding pain and had a panic attack. Now, open MRI refuses to schedule me in the open machine, where I should have been to begin with. This is unprofessional and unfair, as this is the only open machine in our region. They have my referral stating an open machine and medical records showing my claustrophobia and anxiety. Furthermore, they were running an hour behind and said nothing upon check in, nor did they make any attempt to alert patients prior to arrival. This is not how medical services should be treating patients with health issues that are there to get help. I am a breast cancer patient and experiencing one of the most traumatic years of my life, and Open MRI of Asheville showed no compassion or care. read more

I sat here for two hours drinking contrast, and when it was time for my scan no one came to get me. I sat for another 30 minutes before they informed me their injection machine was broken and they could not perform my scan. I just wasted my afternoon in a cold waiting room. read more

I have used Open MRI Asheville serveral times, they are MY choice for services. The staff, registrars and technicians are AWESOME! The staff is postive, polite, professional and patient. They treat you like a member of there family. They run on time, no waiting and easy parking at a clean facility. Also, they are more affordable than other providers in the area. read more

Had a scheduled MRI and it took some time to explain and agree on what my insurance was to pay and what I was to pay. The woman I spoke with was very confused about simple math. Upon arrival the charge to be was still wrong. They wanted me to sign the form with the wrong amount and work it out with a payment plan later. I refused and said this must be worked out before hand. The woman I spoke with in the AM came around the corner and kept insisting I was wrong. They are confused from the start so I would not trust any MRI they do. read more
