Ashford Pub used to be amazing, esp with the free snacks on Thursdays for HH but those days are long gone. I found myself here on a Sunday night and the place was empty. Thats not why I say this place is just ok, its pretty much been just ok for some time now, even pre-2020. They do have a full bar with some decent craft beers but not a lot. It's mostly an older crowd that comes here and people are usually outside on the patio smoking. They have pool tables, a shuffle board and plenty of indoor seating. Lots of TVs. There are no windows here, it's dark and you would never know what time it is unless you look at your phone or something. Its a dark, hole in the wall kind of place. Staff is pretty good, never had any issues. The location is just not too desirable. If you're looking for a cheap, low-key, dark, bar this fits the bill. read more

They finally re-covered pool tables, so I guess that's a good thing... but, $1.50 per game? Really? This is not River Oaks. Karaoke on Friday night is pretty good with Nelson... My main complaint is with the bar. It seems like the bartenders are more concerned about their phones and their friends than they are about serving customers. I loved that they offered video games! It was a very cool experience being able to sit and connect with others at the bar while playing Mario Kart! KT had other games as well. She even had a drink specials based on Mario Kart which I thought was very neat! Her service was great and I felt very welcomed! Will definitely be coming back! read more

Some friends and I came here on Wednesday night which apparently is steak night. I'm glad we chose to come. Be sure to get there before 6/7 they have a limited amount of steaks. Our bartender Leah was the best, she was super friendly and funny, and kept us entertained. We had some great drinks and the steak and potatoes was amazing. I truly cannot give this pub more than 3 stars. Why? Very simple answer to that query...this New Orleans native is a rare breed, and do not drink. I am an eater, not a drinker! Yet, all in all, I can see the quality of why someone would come to chill here. I went on Friday night. Walk in to tunes being spun by a live DJ. That DJ played a variety of music from Country to Hip Hop. Truly, he wasn't that bad of a DJ. Looking around, this is a small place with 2 pool tables, a shuffleboard that is out of order, and HUGE Jenga blocks that makes a lot of noise when someone loses and they hit the floor! Because I don't drink, I truly cannot speak on the pricing of the drinks, the potency of the alcohol, or anything of that nature. What I can speak of are multiple television screens around the place with sports playing, and a whole bunch of people sitting around, chatting and truly enjoying themselves. Great local bar, the drinks are very affordable, the staff is attentive, but I came for their annual Brew B Que event, for $20 a person you got to sample BBQ and sample breweries. Generally, when I hear sample, I'm thinking I'm walking away hungry, but not here, the event was amazing. I was stuffed and got to sample everything from ribs to alligator. I've always heard of this establishment when it was still on Dairy Ashford and Memorial cross street vicinity (hence the name Ashford Pub). I was not surprised that they had to move as the original location was pretty much right across the street from a high school. The current location is much closer to my house anyways. I went there for their Wednesday steak night. It turns out they have 2 choices for the night, a $12 t-bone or if you feel like more meat, you can get a $14 sirloin. Both steaks come with mashed potato and all the salad and desserts you can eat. The salad and the dessert is set up on the corner of the pub along with your utensils, plastic bowl, and paper towel. The pub have a good selection of beers on tap with a good chunk of local Houston craft brewery for the choosing. If you are not sure on what to get, the bartender here knows their beer or if you really want, you can always ask for a sample. As it turns out, Wednesday is also their poker night where you could win big prize. Given my friend and I were there already and the game's about to start, we might as well stay for the poker. There's always a decent crowd for the poker as there was two full tables and people can come and go as it's not tournament style. If you run out of chips, there will be a list of the beers you can buy and that will re-charge your chip count. This place also have pool tables, darts, shuffleboard, and of course the Internet jukebox. I really like this neighborhood pub and I will make sure to come back again another time. read more

Have not felt the "Cheers" feeling in a long time .... But you can feel it every time you walk in. The noise is the same as the family kitchen during any holiday. If you are not intimidated by the locals noise level, They will take you in as family from your first visit. Steak night is one of the best in town, but Sue's desert offering is always good, her banana pudding is among some of the best I have had. I also notice that all of a sudden a few glowingly positive reviews pop up claiming that this "bar " is the best in town .... really so which staff members posted those reviews!!! This is the best local pub in the area, and I've been to all of them in this area. They are very welcoming of everyone. Daily drink specials and special event several days of the week. Wednesday is $10 steak night were you get a freshly grilled steak, potatoes and desert. The free Texas Hold'em poker nights on Wednesdays and Sunday's are always a lot of fun and a great way to meet some new friends. Trivia night is Tuesday's as is Big Azz beer night where you can buy this huge mug and then get it filled with beer for the same cost as their 20oz pints. I have to throw in a review for Ashford Pub since recent reviewers have been bashing the place a little. What they've mentioned in their reviews isn't necessarily wrong but when you come in here you have to keep an open mind about it. This really is an Irish dive bar. It's really owned by an Irish family. One of their bartenders is actually Irish. Are the owners there drunk most nights of the week? Yup. I'll say again, they're Irish. haha Back to all seriousness, don't expect this place to draw in the prettiest or wittiest of people. Some nights there are normal people hanging out and others some weird. It varies. What remains the same is the cool bartenders, cheap drinks, decent wide selection of beers, and every now and then an actual band playing on the weekends. It's not much but they do a pretty decent job using what they have. Personally I like the place. It's not pretentious and they have cheap drinks. What more do you want? If you want to be surrounded by a bunch of beautiful people then there are loads of places inside the Houston loops which can accomodate your fat wallet and overbearing need to lay seed throughout Houston.... :) read more

First time here and I was not impressed. 3 stars because it's close to home, and the beer was the right price and ice cold. Oh yeah...and because this is a non-smoking pub. The DJ was ok. He played a mixture of hip hop, pop and country. My problem was the selection of songs. He couldn't get a steady flow going that moved the crowd. Speaking of crowd....wasn't much of one for a Friday night. Maybe Saturday nights are better. They have pool tables and a shuffle board that wasn't working. Way to go, right?! Went through r St Patty's Day. I'm not much of a bar person, but this was fun. They provided a free buffet of cirnedbeef and cabbage, Irish drew and shepherds pie. Beer was cold. Ok back to the bar, this is the new ashford pub if you ever went to the old one its similar but up dated and cleaner. Its an irish bar/dive bar. They have a food selection which the neighbors cook for them and a great beer selection. There are 20 beers alone on tap with a few being from Katy. (Ridgeback is a must try) I I believe Sunday and Wednesday they have poker night and happy hour before 7 Mondays karaoke. Definitely my favorite bar in the area. I went to a different one a couple of weeks ago, and asked what style a particular beer was, and the waitress stared at me with eyes wide. That never happens at Ashford. The people there know more about beer than I do, and probably you too. Besides which, you may randomly run into people with light sabers, and if Star Wars fans don't know what cool is, then I don't want to be cool. So they don't have food all that often, but do this instead -- get a pizza next door from Lasagna House (pizza there is quite good) and bring it back to the bar. Now, this may be against the rules or something, but they've never been bothered when I did it. I bring this up because I'm looking at a review right now complaining about lack of food, but that's one of those "Dude, it's a bar" things. This place is the definition of "A-OK.". The employees are friendly enough, the atmosphere is clearly "a bar," and the prices seem on par with other places. I've only been once and it was the $10 steak night. It was worth the price for something different, but it's not something I'd go back regularly for. I would never have known the place existed had some friends not suggested it for a meeting. We went there for Friday happy hour. First time there. Friendly greeting from Kathy the bartender. Not too busy. Just a few regulars. A pint of IPA for me and a glass of wine for the wife. Both good. Only $9. No food so ordered takeout from the Lasagna House next door. Decor a little tired but okay, more ice house than pub with a couple of pool tables and shuffleboard. A friendly neighborhood bar at Eldridge & Westheimer (The old location on Dairy Ashford shut down a few years ago.) It's a nice place to stop and have a conversation with the regulars. I've made some good friends there. They have a good beer selection with many on tap, and like to stock new beers and seasonal beers for the customers to try out. The managers are beer drinkers so they know their stuff. They have a decent liquor selection. The bartenders are fun and usually quick with a drink. They usually have free really good homemade food right after I get off work so I can take a break from the rush hour traffic there. They have steak night Wednesdays (you have to pay for those), and the steaks, which they grill outside, are really good. Except for that, they don't normally sell food but there's a Lasagna House on one side of the place, and a BBQ joint on the other side. There's plenty of parking in the shopping center lot. It's not a sports bar but they do have TV's where you can watch sports, racing, etc. They usually have live bands on Friday nights, starting normal band time like 9:30 or 10 PM. I've only seen a few of the bands, but the ones I saw were good. There are a couple of pool tables, a shuffleboard table and the standard TouchTunes jukebox. There's a small patio out front with a few tables where you can drink and/or smoke on nice days. It's inside the city limits so there's no smoking inside. They do special events like cook-offs and crawfish boils on occasion. They have a Facebook page you should find if you FB search on "Ashford Arms Pub Houston", where they post what's going on at the bar. This is a great corner bar. The folks there are friendly, but it takes a while to get to know them, as they seem to be a little clique-ish. The owner really knows his beers and they have a great selection for west Houston. I would give them 5 stars if they had multiple beer cooling systems, as the darker beers were served too cold and had to wait on the counter to come to temp. read more
