I've been coming to NextDoor Bar & Lounge for years, and seeing the recent renovation completely transformed the space in the best way possible. I was impressed when I walked in. They managed to keep the same relaxed neighborhood vibe people love while giving it a much more modern, polished, and upscale feel. The updated design, lighting, TVs and overall atmosphere look incredible and make the space feel fresh without losing its personality. They still have the spinning drink wheel! The outdoor seating especially feels elevated now and makes for the perfect Houston brunch spot or night out. One of the best parts about NextDoor is that it's connected to Hungry's, which means you get full access to their menu while enjoying the lounge atmosphere. Being able to order everything from cocktails and appetizers to full meals while at a bar is a game changer. The food is consistently good, the drinks are strong (especially the frozen options) well-made, and everything comes out quickly. What keeps me coming back year after year is the consistency. The staff has always been welcoming and attentive, the crowd is chill, and it never feels overly pretentious or chaotic. It's one of those rare spots that works for everything, whether it's happy hour after work, date night, catching up with friends over drinks on the patio or a solo adventure. Love seeing a longtime Houston favorite continue to evolve while still delivering the same great experience that's kept me coming back for years. Definitely one of my go-to spots on Memorial Drive. Local sports bar, with plenty of outdoor seating and daily specials. We stopped by last Friday to sit on the patio and unwind after work. We ordered the mango margarita and old fashions. Both drinks were pretty good and surprisingly strong! There's a few games outside too like giant connect 4 and Jenga. We came the night before their grand opening and were seated quickly. There weren't too many people there. The kitchen is located in the restaurant next door so there are runners between the two. We ordered the pepperoni and mushroom pizza, spinach and artichoke dip, and barbecue cast iron wings. I could easily pass on the food here, because it was under seasoned and the wings were soft. However, they have great drinks that are well poured and great service. We found this place looking for a steak night in our new area and this place hasn't disappointed. We bring family and friends to join us on Thursdays. It is run and part of Hungry's Bistro so we had high expectations. The 12 oz ribeye is always cooked perfect to order. If you don't want steak they have a tone of alternatives. Ugh Regardless, the place is a cute patio and outdoor neighborhood bar type of feel, that is very welcoming! We came closer to 8:30 PM on a Wednesday night and the waitress was kind enough to tell us that we could order our food before the kitchen closed, and we did. We ordered a pizza to share, but I will say it was kind of small for a large and definitely not a good amount for four people to share. I will say for the prize I would've expected something a little bit bigger or tastier, preferably both! The wings did look good, but unfortunately, I did not try them. I ordered a Michelada, which was pretty good, but unfortunately, they did not have Pacifico brand beer, which is typically what I order. Went here to celebrate a friends engagement. Drinks and food were pretty good. Service was terrible, and it was not that packed when we arrived. It took 45 minutes to get 2 waters. Server was not knowledgeable about the menu, took a long time to get food and drink orders in. After I ordered my 2nd drink it probably took 30 minutes to get it. Friends ordered food, another friend was trying to order but after she took the first order she started walking away without taking anyone elses order. Water was not being refilled, so I asked for a carafe which took another 30 minutes to get. They were out of a specific champagne, gave us a cheaper champagne and still charged us the same price as the nicer bottle, even after escalating to a manager. With the consistent lack of service throughout the entire time we were there, no one in our group will be coming back. We ended up leaving and going to another bar. read more

This place was packed when I went for happy hour on Thursday!! They have the Ghost in the Machine double IPA from a Louisiana as part of their TX draft beer specials, a big plus on my book. My friend and I sat at the bar ordering pizza & drinks. The frosé, Bellini & Paloma were all delicious. We were there for a couple of hours and noticed the place cleared pretty much after the specials were over. That is their biggest selling point and it does not disappoint. I came here for happy hour and they have quite a selection. from different cocktails to different appetizers, everything was pretty delicious. Nothing spectacular but good. it was weird because you had to get through hungry's patio to get to this restaurant. Keep that in mind. I got a bellini and nachos. The Bellini was frozen which I was not aware of, this was the first time I'd had a frozen Bellini but it was sweet and strong at the same time. I had a nice peach taste and it was satisfying. The nachos were smothered in nacho cheese, steak, sour cream, guacamole, pickled jalapenos, and black beans. it was actually pretty good for my craving. I had a pretty good amount of steak and it was big enough for 2. My tab came out to be around $15. Not bad at all!! My server was spectacular. She was extremely attentive and took our pictures! Mini crab cakes the size of thumper marbles on a bed of the best mac-n-cheese. Pepperoni and mushroom pizza - cracker crust topped generously. Artichoke dip served with tortilla chips. Amanda took great care of us and was more than capable of handling a group of CG campers. The road out front is part of a never ending construction situation. This place provides an amazing environment, food and drinks. We came here to watch game 1 of the Rockets vs Warriors. The bar is a seat yourself so if you ever walk in and no one is quick to help don't be dramatic lol ..just grab a seat and someone will be with you. The domestic and alcohol options are pretty common but they do have some custom drinks to experiment and step of your zone and try it. The nachos were amazing and really fresh. This place is the best kept secret - -I have been over the last couple years on good and bad days, sunny, rainy, after work happy hour events with coworkers, alone for a nice relaxing glass of wine or just ladies night out. Came here on a Thursday night for happy hour and this place was slammed packed! They were hosting a private event so the wait staffed seemed like they were all over the place. However, we seated ourselves and put our orders in just in time for happy hour! We ordered food and drinks off the HH menu and the drinks were alright nothing made them stick out to me but, the food left a good impression. Crab cake Mac n cheese 3/5: it was good but there was something about it that made me not want to get seconds servings of it. Pepperoni mushroom pizza 5/5: this pizza is the only reason why I'm giving 4 stars, it was divine! It was flavorful and light I almost ate half the pizza! ( this was also a good size pizza as well) Braised tacos 3/5: it was like an asian twist to tacos in my opinion, not bad. I wouldn't make a drive here for it though. Nextdoor has survived the memorial street construction and is ready to go. This is a very nice lounge w/ a restaurant. Everything is updated, modern and very clean. They have several lounge areas, indoors, covered indoor patio, or two areas outside, uncovered. I really like the layout here. When the weather is nice, (Or not) this is a good place to chill. The drink menu is pretty good although a bit high unless you catch the HH. (5-7) Cocktails and wines are about $10 avg with beers a little less. HH select drinks are $5. They cut out a lot of beer options which kind of sucks and are now on the mainstream stuff. They get their food from the actual nextdoor neighbor, Hungry's. You'll order something once you're here because it smells so good, esp the pizza. Its a good date night spot or just casual hanging out with friends or coworkers type of place. If you didn't find the place through Yelp, you might drive by not even knowing its here. Service has been hit or miss, I think the turn over has been high because im always seeing new people. Had a good time with Yelpers here but can't see myself returning. It was a nice group of us but with only one waitress, who was friendly but it made for slow service. The two drinks we ordered pretty much sucked but the number of options are extensive so they get kudos for that (unless they suck too) lol. They were "kind" enough to move a bench closer to another to allow for our growing party. I made the mistake of moving to it, only to find out my dress was now soaking, but not dripping wet from the inside cushion that got rained on, I suspect. Came here for a Happy Hour get together after work. There is currently construction going on in this area so the roads are a little rough, be careful when turning into this place! There is ample parking in the back as the front has reserved spots for their valet service. I got a Moscow Mule as it was their Monday special drink for $7. It tasted pretty good once you squeeze the lime and mix everything up! I also ordered the crab cake bites; we clarified with the waitress that while it was offered for $8 on th HH menu, it was still the same size as what's listed on the regular menu. It came out and I was a little confused, just because it was advertised as "jalapeño mac & cheese," however, the pasta itself was orzo (unexpected) and it didn't taste like a regular mac and cheese dish. Crab cakes weren't bad but a bit mushy and obviously filled with more bread crumbs and herbs than crab. It is what it is--for $8 I will take it! We went on a Sunday for a Texans game expecting others to be there for the same reason, but nope! You can enter NextDoor through their entrance that faces Hungry's or by actually walking through Hungry's. We only ordered a drink and an appetizer but their drink menu had a lot of good options and you have the option or ordering from them or Hungry's so definitely a plus. Was sucha a nice day to go watch the Texans game. We settled for this bar and it was quite the adventure. Food was good but very overpriced. Same with drinks. Everything was quite on the pricey side for a bar. We had a good time though so I guess it was worth it. My only complaint was service. Our waitress seems to keep forgetting things we've ordered or never really checked back. We had to wave her down quite often. But overall, I still enjoyed the food and ambience here. Geez, okay maybe this place just isn't my type of bar, but man there should be a warning that says 40 years and older. Major oof. Yikes. Forewarning, I'm writing this review a bit late, as my experience was back on NYE 2017, so they may have updated things. So anyways. Two of my friends and I were bored late at night on the eve of New Years, and we started exploring around the area for a place to grab some drinks. Lo and behold, we discover the Next Door Bar and Lounge. We walk up to it trying to find a door, which was near to impossible as there's no one out front to greet you, or really any sign of life on the patio. But we find the side door and eventually go inside. What we see can only really be described as a small restaurant with a glass floor panels and red LEDs lighting underneath. There were big TVs awkwardly pointing on the front and back of the small restaurant. There were two groups of people in there (all looked much much older than us), a total of four people plus us three on NYE. It was uncomfortably quiet, but we decided fuck it we're here, let's just sit down and get something to drink. Beer was pretty expensive considering their selection. The cocktails looked good, but that's not my cup of tea so I didn't get any. The wait staff kind of sucked as it took forever to get not only noticed but to the get our check so we could get the hell out of there. Ain't going back there, that's for damn sure. read more

Waaay back in February, I was having quite the time trying to find a venue for H's 50th birthday bash. Since his birthday falls on Halloween, many places wouldn't even talk to me or gave me day options. Seriously? During the day? He ain't turning 13. Since we have dinner at Hungry's about once a month (& remembering going to Next Door for Cherry's b-day a couple years back) I decided to contact ND. I sent an email to the events coordinator & Veronica Reyes responded immediately saying the place was available & sent me their catering list with room/location options. I chose the Gold Package & reserved the front covered patio & outside fireplace area. After a couple emails the contract was signed! Boom, October 31st was almost upon us & I emailed Veronica with the final headcount. She sent back a revised contract. I just love doing everything via email as I hate talking on the phone. Hands down the easiest vendor I have ever worked with & their contract minimum is $20 food/beverage per person which is ridiculously cheaper than other places (the gold package runs $25 per person, I substituted meatballs for tea sandwiches for $26 per person). The day of the party I arrived 30 minutes early & the manager, Veronica, Katie & Allie (cocktail waitresses) were on hand to help me set up some balloons. The areas I reserved looked AWESOME & decorated for Halloween. When I told them I had a cake, Veronica immediately jumped into action & set up/decorated a high table. I did set a beverage maximum & advised the people on my tab would be wearing wristbands. People started arriving & I must say Katie & Allie were up for the challenge of keeping everyone happy. Seriously, they kept everyone happy. I got so many compliments on the service & food. When the cake was cut Veronica sliced & served pieces to everyone telling me to go mingle & have fun. Veronica, Katie, Allie & everyone else did an exceptional job. My H had the best time, he was so happy & that is all I wanted. I highly recommend this place for your next party or gathering. Word on the street is this place used to be a Jiffy Lube? It's the Lounge/Bar that is next door to Hungry's. If you look at your receipt it will actually just say Hungry's. The drinks are decent here. They have some infused liquers and a few different variations of margarita's. They play mostly pop hits for music. The patio area is big. It felt like a club you might find in midtown, but on the west side. My favorite thing was the bottles in the ground, where the lifts used to be. read more

Bolstered by its success in the Bistro business, Hungry's Cafe is hungry for more. At its Memorial Drive location, it is getting quite innovative in this regard. It recently purchased the adjacent oil-change garage and converted it into a chic lounge that sports big screen TVs, a fireplace, comfortable lounge sofas and chairs and a well-stocked bar. What is particularly cool is that the glass wall facing the street rolls up on rails just like the old garage door, opening up the bar to the outside patio when the weather obliges. The only thing that is not innovative about the place is its name, NEXTDOOR. When it first open just over a month ago, its "curb appeal" almost caused me to get into a wreck. Whilst driving by, I gawked at the two huge big screen TVs on the outside of the bar displaying a Rockets game. The driver in front of me apparently was doing the same thing and I nearly rear-ended him. I was there last night to help celebrate the 40th birthday of one of my neighbors. I happily sampled their house Cabernet and finger food. Our party of about 40 people filled up half the bar. It was rocking. I felt the music was a bit loud to carry on a conversation without shouting, but, otherwise, my only criticism is that Hungry's NEXTDOOR may be a victim of its own success. The place was filled to the gills. The parking for Hungry's has always been a disaster during lunch, but with the Bistro and Bar going full tilt at the same time, the poor valets looked liked they needed to take a course in conflict resolution. A lot of folks were parking next door at Bubbles Car Wash. The prospect of drink-filled-walking-by-the-side-of-the-road-road-kill on a very busy (and possibly gawking) Memorial Drive is going up exponentially. I hope this all gets sorted out acceptably soon since this bar is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. They've got small walls of wine selections embedded under glass in the floor. Very cool! Unfortunately, the glass is heavily scuffed as you can imagine. But you can still appreciate the design. A group of about 10 of us were looking for a new place to go with a relaxed but nice atmosphere, good food, and where we could watch the Texans game - we didn't want to go to a typical sports bar. We found this on yelp and based on the description and reviews, we decided to try it out. we got there and I liked it right away. they have a great patio area and comfy chairs and couches. so far, so good. As far as food, we ordered the gyro and the beef and chicken quesadillas. both orders were YUMMO! Much better than we expected for a lounge/bar, though the gyro did have a little too much tzaziki (sp?) sauce. We can overlook that b/c the meat itself was perfect. Another couple in our party got the trio and they said it was VERY good as well. oh, and they had a theme for the night - 80s all the way. the waitreses were all dressed up and a number of patrons had their garb on too - complete with mullet wigs and Don Johnson blazers. and the DJ was playing 80s tunes all night - a fun walk in the past. :-) all in all, we all decided that this was a great find and we will definitely be back!
