Never been here but I was about to enroll and then I saw the news article about how they mislead students and a lawsuit ordered them to pay like 22 million back to the students. For this they should be just shut down in my opinion. Obviously they have changed the name now to the university of Arizona. Stay far away from this school! The teachers were horrible and the communication between the university and students was awful. I enrolled in one program and then they discontinued it. I changed my major and then that was a disaster due to the teachers and their attitudes towards the students. When I went to transfer my credits to another school the credits wouldn't be accepted. It has been an absolute nightmare trying to salvage the bachelors degree I was trying to earn. Please look elsewhere if you are a college student and save yourself the stress! read more

I just started my 4th year studying as an Ashford Online University student and so far my experience has been positive. I really appreciate the insight and knowledge from the professors who share real-life experiences of their professions and important articles pertaining to the class in particular. It is very hard to fail a class unless you do not read the instructions carefully and do not turn in assignments. Every tool is available for students to succeed, such as a 24-hour tutor, librarian, tutorials, and hundreds of scholarly articles from databases to search from. Now the hard stuff: It takes an extreme amount of determination, patience, time, and effort to complete the courses (if working a full-time job). The professors are very understanding if you cannot turn in an assignment on time, but all it takes is an email letting them know (communication is key). I never thought I would have made it this far in my studies since I am not one to finish what I start, but so far my grades are 26 A's and 4 B's. This has not been easy, and far from it; a determined mindset will get you through one class at a time, that's how I get through mine. I would recommend this school to anyone who is disciplined enough to complete a 4-year degree program. read more

DO NOT APPLY HERE! I had to block the admissions and counseling departments number because they called me every five mins FOR THE PAST 3 WEEKS. I want to mention a specific person RYAN SMITH the enrollment services advisor. This guy just would not quit pressuring me to fill out the application and put down a down payment even after telling him i was only requesting information and still browsing where i wanted to go. I truly felt like they had their hand on my neck forcing me down to pay them. i was on the phone trying to hang up on Ryan smith while i was at work for 40 mins straight. i work at a school and didn't want my students to be aware how much anxiety i was having talking to Mr Smith. They Call at 5am- 10pm 15 times a day even after asking them to stop and i was no longer interested due to the harnessing phone calls. I had to literally Block every different Number they called me on, this school only cares about money its disgusting how they treat students like another check JUST ANOTHER MONEY ORDER. Where do I begin....HATE THIS UNIVERSITY! Would not recommend this headache to anyone. No one to help you, constantly putting a hold on a class which pushes your graduation date. Your advisor, that should be helping you, doesn't know anything. The financial advisors are just as incompetent. When you ask to speak to a manager or supervisor it's almost like talking to the wall. Started this school in December of 2017 and still not all my paperwork is completed by those incompetent advisors. Always giving you the run around. So I wanted a school that would work with me only have one class at a time and I found Ashford. I would NOT recommend doing classes here as they completely screwed me. There is an attendance policy that states you have to be on every day and if you aren't on for ten days you will get dropped. Well I didn't have class for two weeks which was longer than the ten days. They dropped me from the school but no one communicated with myself that I needed to put in a academic leave. So now they have decided I would have to pay about 700 dollars just to start my next class. Overall even if I don't go back they will have me over 1000. Somehow we got on this this places call list and the calls will not stop. It's been 7 months and we continually get phone calls from these guys about signing up for masters classes online. We have reported them 5 times to the DNC list, have asked our number to be removed every time, still to no avail. Insult to injury , there's a new person that calls every time. When we ask where is the one who called us before, every time the answer has been " they are not with us anymore ". Avoid at all costs. Every single course after the first one was a nightmare. Some worse than others and mostly due to technology. When I finally got into pattern of getting all of the reading done, I got my first grade lower than an A. It doesn't seem like a serious University because my higher grades were for sub-standard work and my lower grade was for completing all of the work and reading the entire textbook. With an online university it's hard to gage the objectivity of grades anyway and I felt like I was being used as a lab rat. read more

Beware! They keep changing their name for a reason to confuse the masses. UACG (AKA Ashford University). They are not professional and will play with you. I attended for a year and never seen one penny from my Graduate loans they stole. In addition, when you bring up mistreatment they will politic you out of there. The staff have no backbone at all. Horrible, the staff and advisors will treat you bad especially if you are black. My advisor never responded to my email or voice message and by coincidence disappeared when they submitted a dismissal. Be careful the staff works for multiple online universities and will black ball you (Lauren, and Constance). Never been treated to badly and the professors also behave as though they discriminate or have issues with you if you are a race other than their own. You will fail all papers by only 3% for example and when you bring up discrimination you all the sudden get kicked out in one month's time. read more

The absolute WORST experience I've ever had. I went to Ashford for my Bachelors program in Clinton, IA which was awesome, no complaints there. I decided to go for my Masters in March 2017, because they had an Alumni Scholarship and thought since I had such a great experience on campus, why not try their online. Boy was I wrong. I've had nothing but HORRIBLE experiences with their online program. 1. I was placed on "Academic Probation" for not having a high enough GPA. Which I get it, totally my fault. But when a student asks for help from their professor, advisor, tutoring center, and get NOTHING in return and takes WEEKS to respond and get help, obviously they don't truly care about the student. 2. Because of my "Academic Probation" which was AT THE END OF MY PROGRAM, (literally had ONE class left) I had to sign up for another "specialization" which was four more classes and an extra 15K. One week later into my new classes, I got an email saying I was "Academically Dismissed". I cried, wrote an appeal, and finally after almost a month of not being in classes, I finally got back in. 3. After my appeal was approved and was able to resume classes, I had to take a class that was nowhere near relevant to my degree and the professor nitpicked EVERYTHING I wrote and submitted. I even sent in my discussions and papers to the tutors and they said they looked great. I received a C in this class and decided I needed a break because mentally I was exhausted from everything. 4. I've been trying to return to finish my FOUR classes. During my break I got married. This created a HUGE "discrepancy" with the University. They demanded a statement in order to use my new FASFA with my new last name, tax records from my husband and I from 2017 (we weren't married in 2017, we were married in 2018 which clearly states that on my FASFA) and a "marital discrepancy" form be filled out and sent to the registrar. Wow. All that for just getting married. 5. Today, after not being enrolled since February of 2019, I received an email from "University Registrar" stating I have been "Academically Dismissed". Obviously Katie you don't read your records since I haven't been enrolled in 7 months. All in all, I hate this school. 90K in debt with them and I still have to take more classes which is at least another 30K. They have made my experience nothing but horrible and no wonder they only have a 12% graduation rate for their students. I can't go to another school because their credits are complete BS and won't transfer. The professors don't teach you anything, the advisors don't help you, they want nothing but your money. Obviously they aren't paying attention to their students. They only pay attention when they need their students Financial Aid money. What's sad is I've even reached out to the Advisor I had on campus to see if they would help me, got nothing. Yes, they still work there. Does anyone wonder why their ACTUAL college shut down? Students on campus were going basically for free because the online students were paying for them to go there. So thanks for the free Bachelors degree to all of the online students who paid for it. I'm currently enrolled at Ashford University via their online-based curriculum in order to complete my coursework for a BA in Healthcare Administration. I've been taking classes at Ashford for almost 5 months and have mostly positive things to say about the school and my overall experience there. Pros: -Each class is only 5 weeks instead of the 16 weeks of traditional colleges, which for me is one of the primary reasons I chose Ashford. -As Tanya S. pointed out, yes each course operates in nearly identical structure regardless of the course subject. This isn't necessarily, in my opinion, a negative attribute of this school. The familiarity is instant, and the format is already one of the most intuitive and user-friendly formats I've experienced with a school of any kind, not just online colleges. -Accredited school with post-graduation assistance gaining employment! This is a HUGE deal, as a surprisingly large number of colleges and trade school, online or in-person, don't offer one or even both. Big ups to Ashford for having both characteristics. -Financial aid and matriculation of previously attended school transcripts was a little trying at first, though was completed at a reasonably satisfactory pace (3 months). Now it's great, I just received my two grant stipends in quick succession, something else that is VERILY appreciated :D -Counselors are on top of it. They're quick to respond to emails or phone calls, help you every step of the way, exhibit tireless patience and never sound exasperated or frustrated with even the most asinine or minute details. Great follow through and communication, some the best I've ever had actually. Cons: -Compared to other universities and colleges I've attended over the past 8 years, the course work is SIGNIFICANTLY easier, though I did have to take a lot of upper-division science courses in the past, so individual expectations may be tempered. -Classmates are often inarticulate and borderline lazy, so even though I've been putting in a minimal amount of work and overall effort into my classes, my professors often praise me as the best writer they've ever encountered, which is pretty sad when all things are considered. -You may not really retain a great deal of the lessons and information covered by the courses. If you can find the key terms asked of you in a 10 question quiz, you'll at the very least receive a B grade. For discussion posts and responses to other classmates' posts, you can get full credit even if you're only relatively proficient in bullshitting and artificially fluffing/padding your responses. Bottom Line: -Albeit that Ashford is not particularly challenging, at least the courses can be completed in an infinitely more manageable and condensed amount of time when compared to the mind-numbing lengths of interminable weeks spent in a single class. -Bottom line, I'm going to get my BA, which is really all that employers care about in the vast majority of fields. After I finish that, I'll continue at Ashford in order to earn two masters degrees: MBA and MA in Organizational Management. Clearly, the pros outweigh the cons, at least in my opinion. read more

When I started attending Ashford I was excited, I felt like I was getting into something new and fun. As the classes kept on going, the easy A's where coming as well. Some teachers were great, but most where just there to make a quick buck. It is rather pathetic, I must say, if I ever own a business and a potential employee approached me with "Ashford" on their resume I would quickly turn them away. About to finish my MBA in Supply Chain Management with Ashford University. There are pro's and con's to everything. This school has a great delivery platform and consistent grading standards. If you have the maturity and discipline to conduct yourself accordingly and make an honorable effort you can learn as much as you can handle. Great program for military members, adults returning to school, and anyone interested in a solid academic program. Con's... Classes are non-stop so there is zero break with the exception of two weeks over Christmas. A four year degree is four solid years. read more

It 1st starts off great with the admissions counselors being very attentive and then they transfer you to your academic advisor. I actually, had a fantastic advisor at Ashford for the first 4 months. He then left the University all together and got a new job somewhere else. That should have been the EYEOPENER for me to head out as well, but I continued on. Since his departure Ashford has changed my advisors 4 times and every one of them was below average. I am writing this review because I almost missed out on an awesome educational experience due to the bad reviews I have seen on this school! If you are on the cusp of deciding what school to go to and you really want to go to Ashford but the bad reviews you see make you change your mind, think again! This school is going to require some self motivation, persistence, dedication, and an ability to work on yourself. As with anything you REALLY want to accomplish it will take work! I have attended two campus universities and hands down this is the best school so far! I haven't had any issues with financial aid, they transferred 60 credits (Ill write again after graduation to see if I get charged for transfers because that's the gossip in some reviews). If you have self control and will power, YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! Personally, the classes are challenging because they are accelerated but they are so organized that it actually makes them seem easy. I have nothing but good to say about Ashford so far and trust me if something scandalous happens I will be back to write a review. I graduate next year with my BA in International Business and if all goes well I'm going straight into the MA program! P.s. Inquired about Ashford, because I was told they were a military friendly University. Completely false. They offer no Incentives to vets. If you're not using your GI bill benefits, don't bother with this institution; they don't even give you a tuition break if you're vet. There are plenty of good schools out there that will cater to veterans and give them the benefits they deserve. read more

The counselors are ok, but do not get used to any one, they'll be fired as soon as you know their name (because the "school" lays people off just before they have to pay for their insurance) The Admissions Counselors will promise you the moon and the stars but they'll be laid off before they deliver, just beware. If you're in the military and having school paid for for you, and you're stationed on a ship somewhere, do this, because it is convenient. If you were kidnapped when you were twelve and have lived in a remote trailer in the desert for the past thirty years with your kidnapper, and have terrible anxiety about being around people, sign up for ashford. If neither of these scenarios are your case, go to community college and take a lot of general Ed classes and transfer them into a real university your degree will be a better value. If you thrive in an environment where you get to interact with human beings, go to your local university. I am sad to say that I am so close to "graduating" (I only have one or two more "classes") and I deeply, deeply regret signing on for this. I really do not feel as though I have experienced any value from this experience. Really the only thing I have learned is to tell people to never sign up for Ashford University. Ashford University/Arizona University Global campus has been the most complicated, frustrating, and exhausting experience. The process has been a headache from the start to disorganization within the business. For example, the school kept insisting I send in a form signed by my employer or I would be dropped from a class, yet the advisor and staff did not know what form their emails were referring too. This happened a dozen times over 4 years. Email threatening being dropped from the course , yet no one knowing what the form was. I believe this was a tactic to try to make students pay for "dropped courses" which is addressed in the contractual agreement. The entire program was supposed to be covered through a Leadership Development grant with my work (my employer pays $5250 annually, and the school would pay the remainder as long as the courses were passed with a "C"). I have a 3.98 GPA and passed all the classes, yet they are holding the diploma for a balance of $1230 stating my employer owes more. The advisor was no help. The billing department is no help. I filed a claim with the BBB and am currently speaking to the HR Education manager at my company to cancel this agreement with this company and remove it from the recommended schools. It is unbelievable to work so hard on something for 4 years only to end up disappointed and without a diploma to show for it. read more

I do not recommend that any new students apply and enroll in The University of Arizona Global Campus at this time. This is the new name of the university since the merger a few months ago. Although the university is currently accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission, they recently received a warning of concern from the organization. If the university does not fix the issues in the next couple of years, your degree will be essentially worthless, depending on when you attended and when the accreditation officially ends. Do not risk your time and money. Thankfully I will be graduating right before the next evaluation and my degree accreditation will not be affected. Dodged a bullet there! If you want to feel ripped off by another online university Ashford is your place. Pointless courses and an unwillingness to accept military leadership college credits are their bread and butter. If I only would have known what I know now I would've taken my money and prior college credit elsewhere. My advice to whomever reads this is do the same. Oh, and if your hoping to perform PLA or prior learning assessment credits good luck. I have to say I know two people personally that had attended Ashford University and they both warned me not to do it. I also was told that things would go smoothly at first but the closer I got to graduation the more problems I would encounter and that has turned out to be true. I am literally 2 and 1/2 classes from completing my Associate degree and they are not going to pay out my full stipend because I was only charged for 3 courses instead of the typical 4. But I only need the 2 1/2 to graduate. I was told yesterday that my stipend would be dispersed today, but I didn't think to ask about the amount. So when I see that it has been dispersed, for less than half the amount due I was told they have to hold the funds for the 4th class for the semester even though I do not need it. At one point I asked how I supported myself for financial aid, I live with my boyfriend and am a stay at home mom for a special needs child. Yet I have to provide proof of that. I do not feel like I have learned much that it has been a joke of an education. I only hope that when I find a decent University to attend that I can study hard and obtain my Bachelor's degree in my chosen field. First off, most of the negative reviews on here are due to people not being educated on how the system works from the start. Ashford did more than enough to explain to me how this all worked from day one. I have not had any issues with the University. I will admit that sometimes the financial center can be slow to respond, but I still get a response. There are other ways to get ahold of someone who can give you advising help. My first advisor was not good at responding, so I simply asked for another one. Within days I had a new advisor who has been great! Also, for those who complained about not getting a tuition break because you're in the military..I have never been to a school that does that, that's what GI benefits are for. A lot of military personnel attend the school because of the flexibility of class scheduling. I have had a handful of veterans in each of my classes. This is an ONLINE school. You must be self motivated, and you must keep up with your assignments and discussion posts DAILY. If you can follow the simplest of instructions, and log on daily, then you will do fine. I have recommended Ashford for several co-workers since our company has tuition reimbursement through them, and no one has had any issues what so ever. read more

After starting my program (bachelors is psychology) at Ashford communication was unprofessional and had me frustrated. I originally was going to drop out of the university after I was given wrong information which caused a lot of frustration. I was convinced to stay after I was given a bunch of false promises. I went through four different guidance counselors during my time, each one giving me different information. I continued to try and focus on pushing through and it's partly my fault that I trusted what they were telling me. I was told my financial aid would take care of all the costs and my balanced showed zero for two years after I paid off the original I owed. Now after my hard work I graduated only to find out I owe 3754 dollars out of pocket. They will not release my transcripts until this is paid which throws my life completely in a horrible whirlwind. I left my good job to continue my education at a different school for my masters and now I can't even continue my education until I come up with this money. I was told that I was given the wrong information previously because they assumed my financial aid would take care of everything and didn't realize I had a good job. I think if they were assuming they should have addressed that instead of telling me with confidence that I would be covered. I also don't understand why my balance showed zero. The last letter I have from the finance department stated that I only owed 15O to obtain my diploma. Once I paid that I suddenly owed 3754. I then was told that maybe I could get approved for a payment plan and a one time release of my transcripts . I don't mind paying it but I don't have that kind of money now and all I want to do is start my Masters program at my new school :( After feeling a bit more secure that this plan could work I then receive an email that this could actually go to collections at any time and they have no control. I really wanted to write a good review about this school and trust in this organization. It's embarrassing to me on so many levels that this has happened and this is where I got my Bachelors from . The sad thing is that there is really nothing I can do. Nothing they are saying is giving me security or peace of mind . You think that you would be happy when you graduate but I haven't stopped stressing and crying for days now. It was comprehensive. Online is not a fit for most people because you will need to actually READ all the material given and not expect 1 hour lectures to get you by. The one thing they need to work on are the exams themselves and maintaining quality instructors. I completed a BA Business Information Systems, however I already had a good understanding of the subject prior to attending. I also didn't encounter issues with financial aid. My wife is a graduate, and I was excited to enroll. I stated from the beginning that I would need to transfer as many credits as possible from my first college experience (required courses), due to being out of work and the impact of the Obamacare skyrocketing cost of our family's insurance expenses. They assured me 90% of the credits should transfer. The teachers were great and I loved the courses. However, 2 weeks into my first course, tuition increased! After 10 weeks of being enrolled, they still wouldn't commit to how many credits transferred, they kept rotating in new advisors, kept losing my paperwork, finally started blaming all my headaches on an outsourced 3rd part contractor who was handling my paperwork! My GPA was 4.0, with a numerical average of 97.2. My issues weren't that I couldn't handle my courses, or load! My issue was, once I got locked in and obligated to pay, the people handling the administration, seemed unable to do their jobs! The Constant runaround completely wrecked what would have been an exciting and wonderful experience. It was very sad, and without knowing for sure how many credits to complete my degree, I was unable to budget and plan, therefore I had to drop out. I'm still wanting to complete my degree, but it can't be in a situation where " I" obligate, and "they" kinda-sorta- eventually- at some point- might- get around to letting me know just how much I will be on the hook for! Haha! Ashford was great, as far as the academic part, but the onboarding, advisor (total joke) part, was hideous! I wish everyone the very best with their future. You each are a good investment, and so is your future, but our educational partner must be worthy and more "together", for the journey to truly begin on the right foot. I too had my doubts about Ashford University. However, after doing my background research, I realized that most of those negative remarks are totally wrong. I did my undergraduate studies at the University of the West Indies, in Kingston, Jamaica, which is a world renowned university with a high academic standard, and I can certainly say that Ashford is just as good. At Ashford, you have to earn those grades. When I just started the MA program in Organizational Management, I tried to test one of my lecturers by producing an assignment which I knew was far below graduate standards. Guess what my friends, I got what I deserve, a nice F ( 3.5/7). That really taught me a lesson. The lecturers that I have come in contact with are quite knowlegeable, and competent; and yes a number of them do mark very hard. The APA, that's a killer. For the persons who are in doubt, take it from me, no need to worry; the experience is good and I can truly say that I have learnt a lot. This is just a warning that Ashford University has a law suit against them for over charging students. They are still doing this. They claim they will transfer up to 90 previous college units. I had 133 units prior to enrollment and they only gave me 54 units of credit (A little over 1/3) This school is a huge money scam. They charge me about $5000 up from, plus charged me for 3 classes (approximately $4200) and only then did they tell e they we denying me most of my credit and also denying me what that call a general education waiver. They said I was 10 units short of their 34 unit GE requirement even though I had 133 units and 2 degrees (both AA and AS) BEWARE if their enrollment counselors because they will lie and make all kinds of promised, then deny them. RECORD any and all converstations you have with staff at Ashford University and keep copies of all your emails. I have a recording of matriculations denying me transfer units for viable classes. I would recomment looking into California Southern University of Psychology for Psychology majors. They are much cheaper, more helpful and more honest according to a friend of mine. I had graduated from Ashford University with an undergraduate degree in criminal justice back in spring of 2016. I'm currently attending Ashford University again with an MBA major in marketing. I have to say that this school is worth the time and money as a good solid investment; just as long as you complete all of your own assignments when your suppose to. Most people will complain about their college education; due to negative excuses. If you do your work you will get positive results. If you act like your still in high school then you will receive a negative result. This occurs just like in anything that you do in everyday life. read more

I am enrolled with an AA and am finishing my BA at Ashford. I think you need to be realistic when choosing a school. This is an accredited school. They carry the same accredidation as the state schools or private univerisities. This makes them a step above Bryman, U of Phoenix etc. They were denied WASC accreditation because they do not have Western operations and this is a Western accreditation organization. NEXT POINT: If you are looking to use your degree to impress people, it will not impress many outside your family. This is not Stanford or Notre Dame. But there are probabaly a lot of employers who will consider your degree as a benefit, and not differentiate the school. So it could help. ALSO remember, the military sends tons of people to this school, so there is a need for this type of learning. ALL major colleges offer SOME distance learning. What is the difference between SOME and ALL? I mean, unless it is a lab class, for a medical degree or something, if the major schools can offer online cirriculum, why can't Ashford? They just offer more of it. And for someone like me, who has a job, and whose career is not really going to be affected by a degree (the car business), it has been great just to learn things that I might apply in my field. I have to say my income has increased, and I am using a lot of what I have learned in Marketing classes. One may not be totally responsible for the other but I believe the things I have learned AND simply the discipline and mental workout I have been giving myself have improved my effecrtiveness overall. FINALLY I have had to drop some classes but followed the guidelines and never been charged for a class I did not take. I have had no problems with the staff, and my advisors, counselors, etc have been helpful and available. I think years from now there will be a lot more of this. I have recently finished my BA degree with Ashford online. They are an AMAZING university and I would recommend this university to ANYONE!!

I have been attending online classes since May of 2010. If you put the work in you will learn, you have to read the text in order to learn since it is online and not a traditional classroom lecture learning environment. I plan on transferring to campus classes in January and look forward to seeing both sides of Ashford. I have found if I ever had any issues my advisors worked hard to solve them in a timely manner.
