I was then greeted right away by my stylist Rachel who was super cute and had a great smile. She directed me to her station where we discussed my hair goals and what the plan was. From there she took me to the shampoo bowl where we yapped and it lasted the entire appointment. I felt seen and heard throughout the process and Rachel made sure she talked me through everything to make sure I was ok with it. Amy probably noticed that I had pretty much zero hair product in my hair when I came in so she didn't pile on styling goop during the blowout which I appreciated. Amy also offers people who refer a new client a complimentary hair product--smart word of mouth strategy. The salon is friendly and low key and parking is easy in Kirkwood.

Coordination! Unfortunately, the vibe here has always felt off The front desk is rarely welcoming. Half the time, no one greets you, acknowledges you, or makes you feel like they are happy you're there. The energy can feel very cliquey, dismissive, and honestly kind of performative. It gives "we're all a family here," but somehow the client is not included in the family. I've overlooked a lot because I liked the actual hair services. I've waited 30 minutes past my appointment time before. I've had appointments moved around. One time, I was sent to the Webster Groves location, got there, and was then told I actually needed to go to Des Peres because they could not take me. Like...okay gas?? But today was what officially did it for me. I booked a root touch-up before a photo shoot tomorrow and a trip next week. I sent pictures and a description of what I wanted directly to the stylist beforehand. I've also had this exact type of service done through this salon multiple times, usually for around $250, so this was not some random mystery appointment. I arrived and waited around 30 minutes to be assisted, only to then be told it would cost over $400. And to be very clear, I am not asking anyone to lower their prices, undervalue their work, or change their hourly rate for me. Charge whatever you charge. That is fully your business. My issue is: why was none of this communicated nor coordinated before I showed up? You had my appointment details. You had the pictures. You had my description. You had my client history from the past two years. If the service was now going to cost almost twice what I normally paid, or if I had supposedly booked the wrong category, somebody should have figured that out before I arrived, waited 30 minutes, and left with absolutely nothing done. Even the stylist seemed surprised by how I had apparently been charged or categorized during previous appointments, which honestly just made the whole situation feel even more disorganized. That is an internal coordination issue, not something that should suddenly become the client's emergency while they are sitting in the chair So now I have a photo shoot tomorrow, a trip next week, and no hair did or done because this salon could not communicate beforehand. After nearly two years of being a loyal client, I'm done overlooking the rude front desk energy, the scheduling confusion, the long waits, and the constant lack of coordination. The actual talent may be there, but the overall experience is not. I will not be coming back. Respectfully, the vibes are not worth $400+.

It can be difficult to find a stylist who can straighten my hair without excessive heat, resulting in a strong smell of being "burnt". I was very specific about my hair type when I called to make this appointment and I was assured that they had Stylist who knew how to work on textured hair. When I arrived for my appointment, I met Alli and after a conversation I felt comfortable that she could handle my hair and give me what I was looking for making me feel very comfortable. The shop itself is bright and clean and the splashes of yellow from the styling tools just made it feel refreshing. I was surprised by the fact so many hairdryers were being used, but it wasn't a smoky air. I took a photo as a reference of what I was looking for as the end result, and Alli did asked me to leave the photo open so she could reference it as she styled my hair and she did not disappoint. After a shampoo and a gloss treatment, my hair felt and smelled amazing. Her blow dry skills were excellent leaving me with the light and fluffy hair that I was looking for. She then took the curler and gave me a head full of curls, giving me the bouncy flowy head of hair I so desired. When I got to the chair around 5:10, I clearly asked for a blowout with big volume, pin-up curls using a round brush and rollers. I only ended up with about three rollers in my hair, nothing was pinned up, and my hair kept getting stuck in the round brush. My hair ended up very flat, which was the opposite of what I asked for. She then started curling random pieces with an iron, which confused me because I specifically asked for a blowout style. The whole time it felt like there was confusion about what service I wanted, even though I explained it clearly. I left feeling disappointed and like I didn't receive the service I asked for, especially for my first visit. The studio is clean and has a comfortable and fresh vibe. I loved the style and everyone there was lively and talkative. They also played great music and I was satisfied with my hair as a whole! I got color and a cut and Madi listened to everything I requested. Over all it was a great experience and I will definitely be going back again!
