One of my sisters was getting married and the hair stylist working her hair did an amazing job. Her hair looked better than her original hair trial! Her hair was perfectly curled and the accessories the bride brought were added exactly as she wanted. Her hair lasted the entire wedding perfectly! The stylist who did my hair was perfect for me! She was so friendly and a little chatty which I loved! I had asked for a sleek bridesmaid bun. She took my requests (straight instead of curled, simple and smooth but cute, etc) very well. It was everything I had expected perfectly executed. Amazing customer service as well. The issue where I could not give 5 stars is for my other sister's hair. She was the other bridesmaid and her hair was supposed to be a simple bridesmaid bun with some curls. The stylist (I believe named Alexis) was 15mins late and did a horrible job with her hair. It was loose, messy, and did not look professional. Lots of flyaways - like she didn't use any hairspray or something. Her curls fell flat right away when we got into the car. Picture of her finished hair is attached. I'm not sure what happened- it looked like she just gave up and tried to wrap the last piece of hair around the bun without securing it. We are so disappointed with her experience. To top it off, the stylist was not even friendly. She seemed upset to be working at all. No customer service from her. Unfortunately we were on a timed schedule that we couldn't get it redone.

I decided to call and ask if they were ok with diverse hair and the girl who answered the phone was very sweet and assured me that they handled all hair types. I was scheduled with Rachel. I was then greeted right away by my stylist Rachel who was super cute and had a great smile. She directed me to her station where we discussed my hair goals and what the plan was. From there she took me to the shampoo bowl where we yapped and it lasted the entire appointment. I felt seen and heard throughout the process and Rachel made sure she talked me through everything to make sure I was ok with it. Safe to say I was happy with my hair at the end of the appointment and I will be back. Thanks Rachel for handling me with respect and care and for being an amazing cosmo

Everyone was so happy with their looks and the ladies were so fun and relaxed which made our morning that much better, I worked with Emily for my bridal makeup after also having a trial (DO THE TRIAL). I have medium/long thick hair and she did a great job adding some movement and easy to style layers to my cut. Pretty reasonable pricing at $45/haircut. Amy probably noticed that I had pretty much zero hair product in my hair when I came in so she didn't pile on styling goop during the blowout which I appreciated. Amy also offers people who refer a new client a complimentary hair product--smart word of mouth strategy. The salon is friendly and low key and parking is easy in Kirkwood.

My main concern was having some rookie make me look like more of a doofus than I already am because they didn't possess the skills to make me look like I could pull of an undercut. Anyways, I took the plunge and walked over and asked if there was someone who could give me my fresh new "do" and I was directed to Chris Cross. Not only did he do an awesome job but he basically coached me on how to style my hair so I could actually duplicate what he did on my own. The haircut itself cost $25 which I think is a completely reasonable price for what I'm getting. And I will happily pay it again knowing the service I get when I go there. He shampooed, washed and cut my hair. Plus, he used some cement product. All in all it probably takes at least 30 minutes. I also think $25 is the minimum for a men's hair cut. Pros: - Their business cards have their cell phone numbers on them. - They have a website, which contains their bios. Initially, a major selling point for me. - Extremely nice. - Been able to make appointments a few days out (at least with Chris). Cons: - None so far

I genuinely do not like leaving bad reviews, especially because I've been coming here for almost…read moretwo years, but today was quite literally my final straw. I've gone here consistently since moving to St. Louis for haircuts, root touch-ups, color, all of it. I also truly do not care who I'm assigned to. I'm not one of those clients who needs one specific stylist every single time. I just expect basic communication, decent service, and for my appointment to actually make sense when I arrive. Coordination! Unfortunately, the vibe here has always felt off The front desk is rarely welcoming. Half the time, no one greets you, acknowledges you, or makes you feel like they are happy you're there. The energy can feel very cliquey, dismissive, and honestly kind of performative. It gives "we're all a family here," but somehow the client is not included in the family. I've overlooked a lot because I liked the actual hair services. I've waited 30 minutes past my appointment time before. I've had appointments moved around. One time, I was sent to the Webster Groves location, got there, and was then told I actually needed to go to Des Peres because they could not take me. Like...okay gas?? But today was what officially did it for me. I booked a root touch-up before a photo shoot tomorrow and a trip next week. I sent pictures and a description of what I wanted directly to the stylist beforehand. I've also had this exact type of service done through this salon multiple times, usually for around $250, so this was not some random mystery appointment. I arrived and waited around 30 minutes to be assisted, only to then be told it would cost over $400. And to be very clear, I am not asking anyone to lower their prices, undervalue their work, or change their hourly rate for me. Charge whatever you charge. That is fully your business. My issue is: why was none of this communicated nor coordinated before I showed up? You had my appointment details. You had the pictures. You had my description. You had my client history from the past two years. If the service was now going to cost almost twice what I normally paid, or if I had supposedly booked the wrong category, somebody should have figured that out before I arrived, waited 30 minutes, and left with absolutely nothing done. Even the stylist seemed surprised by how I had apparently been charged or categorized during previous appointments, which honestly just made the whole situation feel even more disorganized. That is an internal coordination issue, not something that should suddenly become the client's emergency while they are sitting in the chair So now I have a photo shoot tomorrow, a trip next week, and no hair did or done because this salon could not communicate beforehand. After nearly two years of being a loyal client, I'm done overlooking the rude front desk energy, the scheduling confusion, the long waits, and the constant lack of coordination. The actual talent may be there, but the overall experience is not. I will not be coming back. Respectfully, the vibes are not worth $400+.

It can be difficult to find a stylist who can straighten my hair without excessive heat, resulting in a strong smell of being "burnt". I was very specific about my hair type when I called to make this appointment and I was assured that they had Stylist who knew how to work on textured hair. When I arrived for my appointment, I met Alli and after a conversation I felt comfortable that she could handle my hair and give me what I was looking for making me feel very comfortable. The shop itself is bright and clean and the splashes of yellow from the styling tools just made it feel refreshing. I was surprised by the fact so many hairdryers were being used, but it wasn't a smoky air. I took a photo as a reference of what I was looking for as the end result, and Alli did asked me to leave the photo open so she could reference it as she styled my hair and she did not disappoint. After a shampoo and a gloss treatment, my hair felt and smelled amazing. Her blow dry skills were excellent leaving me with the light and fluffy hair that I was looking for. She then took the curler and gave me a head full of curls, giving me the bouncy flowy head of hair I so desired. I was amazed at the outcome, completely satisfied with the style, service and the price. The entire experience was wonderful, and I highly recommend Alli and the Drybar in Clayton. I failed to take a photo as I was in a rush to get home, but trust and believe I will definitely be back.

They were running behind, which was totally fine, so I waited. This was my first time coming here and I was excited to try it. When I got to the chair around 5:10, I clearly asked for a blowout with big volume, pin-up curls using a round brush and rollers. I only ended up with about three rollers in my hair, nothing was pinned up, and my hair kept getting stuck in the round brush. My hair ended up very flat, which was the opposite of what I asked for. She then started curling random pieces with an iron, which confused me because I specifically asked for a blowout style. The whole time it felt like there was confusion about what service I wanted, even though I explained it clearly. I left feeling disappointed and like I didn't receive the service I asked for, especially for my first visit. I wish I could of got a complete refund because It was nothing I had asked for and honestly I could of done a better job myself with just a blow dryer and brush bc it looked like no one touched my hair.

When I set the appt I asked for Taryn as that was who I was recommended to. She is a curly specialist and WOW was she knowledgeable. Overall my experience with her was top notch. Taryn gave me an overview of what would happen during the appointing and has a big focus on client education. She walked me through every step and every product. Note: I am sensitive to scents due to having migraines and she was so respectful of this. Taryn had me smell the hairbath and conditioner to make sure it was not too strong before we even started. Taryn told me about the products and how and why you use them including the order and what they do for you. She educated me on how to get your curls looking your best. Overall, if you have curly or wavy hair and want to know how to take care of it and what it could look like at its best - GO HERE NOW! The education alone is worth every dollar!!! Sadly for me I learned 2 things I didn't anticipate: 1) I have a natural swirly in the back of head that will just kinda have a bald spot, its not just the way I style it 2) I was apparently already doing a fairly decent job, though Taryn did take my curls up a notch :)

Pros- decent haircut, super friendly stylist with AMAZING product knowledge. Cons - my haircut and deep condition took over FOUR hours!! While it's clear that Victoria knows curly hair like the back of her hand (and IS the curl care expert), a four hour haircut isn't an awesome sounding time commitment for anyone. I booked a follow up appointment for a few months from now - hopefully this time it won't be so time consuming!
