I wish I could give 5 stars for the service I received just for myself, but this review is for the service of my both my sisters that were with me as well. One of my sisters was getting married and the hair stylist working her hair did an amazing job. Her hair looked better than her original hair trial! Her hair was perfectly curled and the accessories the bride brought were added exactly as she wanted. Her hair lasted the entire wedding perfectly! The stylist who did my hair was perfect for me! She was so friendly and a little chatty which I loved! I had asked for a sleek bridesmaid bun. She took my requests (straight instead of curled, simple and smooth but cute, etc) very well. It was everything I had expected perfectly executed. Amazing customer service as well. The issue where I could not give 5 stars is for my other sister's hair. She was the other bridesmaid and her hair was supposed to be a simple bridesmaid bun with some curls. The stylist (I believe named Alexis) was 15mins late and did a horrible job with her hair. It was loose, messy, and did not look professional. Lots of flyaways - like she didn't use any hairspray or something. Her curls fell flat right away when we got into the car. Picture of her finished hair is attached. I'm not sure what happened- it looked like she just gave up and tried to wrap the last piece of hair around the bun without securing it. We are so disappointed with her experience. To top it off, the stylist was not even friendly. She seemed upset to be working at all. No customer service from her. This was my first experience going to the dry bar and it will be my last. I made my appointment weeks ago, and when I walked in, I ended up having to sit in a hard little chair in the corner, where the people come in and normally stand and wait to be seated at a proper station. I didn't have a counter to set my drink so I placed it on the floor. When I went to pick it up the amount of hair that was on the floor was disgusting so I just left my drink there. Every time someone came up such as a stylist or a new client I had to move my feet so that they could walk by. Plus when the door opened up I was greeted with frigid air. My hair did not even look close to the picture I handed her. I was super excited to get my hair done because I've never done it and so I wasted $45 because I'm going to go home and re-fix it. Had I made a walk-in appointment that day I could've understood where I was placed. But I had a legitimate appointment for weeks and they put me in the waiting room and then my hair looked terrible. I have given this place soooooo many opportunities. The stylists do not listen to what you want done or what your particular hair type needs. They are habitually very very late (30min+) which in turn makes you late to your event. They rarely actually serve you the drink you order. And it's so overpriced. Poorly managed and only continues to go downhill. Highly suggest going to other locally owned stylists/salons who are punctual/respectful of time and do a better job. read more

It's rather difficult for me as an African American female to let someone who is not my race touch or do anything to my hair because 98% of the time, hair styling schools DO NOT TEACH students how to specialize in All hair types. So, when I was invited to a YELP Influencers event for DryBar I was excited and apprehensive...so, I called before hand. Luckily, the salon had an African American stylist (Mionni)! The service was wonderful and the salon atmosphere was relaxing. Wine (sparkling & still), various beverages and appetizers were given to us on this particular night. Mionni presented me with a catalog of styles and I saw many I'd like but the styling tools stopped me because they don't get hot enough to hold a curl. The hair products were subpar for my texture and the styling tools do not get hot enough so she did her best with what they gave her. I would definitely not try to shake my hair not try to run my fingers through it because it was rather dry and stiff from the products. They were drying. I left my hair alone for 3 days. Came here very last minute. Service=5 stars. Make sure to ask for LAUREN as she was incredible! I have very thick, long hair & she shampooed my hair twice, blow dried it in under 45 minutes! I liked the variety of products she used to de-tangle, boost volume, +shine, reduce frizz, and protect my hair from the heat... then even some "gold shimmer" spray at the finish. FYI-Some salons serve cheap wine that tastes like vinegar, but here they had real Rosé & Champagne They refilled my glass even before it was empty & I offered to pay, but it was complimentary. I had my hair blow dried and curled Saturday 5/20/23 . The girl did a nice job but the curls did not last 3 hours . We left by Noon went to lunch by 230 my curls were out . I asked her multiple times to spray the curls . She claimed she did . For $55 it really wasn't worth it . I needed to use my own barrel curling iron to fix my hair before a gala at 530 pm . I have been going to Drybar for blowouts since it opened and have always been impressed with the outcome. The stylists are well trained and are able to adjust their technique to your type of hair - mine holds really well, so I always ask for bigger, wavy curls. The atmosphere is great for both solo self care trips and girls outings and the shop is super clean. The receptionists are also super friendly and accommodating. I love the products! I came in last week with my 3 year old daughter to get our hair done for family photos. She had never been to a salon and I was very worried it was going to be a disaster. Shorooq was amazing with her I would highly recommend her if you have little girls needing a blowout. We did a dry style for her since she's scared of blow dryers and she felt like a total princess. She even helped me entertain her while I finished my blowout which took a lot longer since I have a lot of hair. I asked my stylist to do tight curls since my hair is heavy and curls tend to fall pretty quickly. I have had trouble in the past with blowouts at other places where they did them looser anyway and didn't listen to me then my blowout is gone in a couple hours. She listened and did a great job keeping them tight and picture ready. When we got to Edwardsville for our shoot our photographer mentioned how great our hair looked even after the drive. She was aggressive in her response, rude and acting as though we had done something wrong. Once you get to your stylist they take you to the back for a consultation and then you head to my favorite part...the shampoo, it's so relaxing. I attended an event at this location and had been dying to go, ever since I found out it would be opening! I'm so glad I had the opportunity to be pampered on a weeknight, after a long day at work. When I arrived, I checked in and was instantly impressed with how clean and cheery the salon is. After a few minutes of wait time, my stylist greeted me and helped me choose a look. We shampooed and chatted, and went back to her station to style. My favorite part of this experience was that, with each step throughout the process, my stylist educated me on each product that she used and their function. I have frequented drybar in las vegas frequently. when i moved out of state and to missouri i saw they had a drybar i was excited. this is my second time at this location and let's just say what a let down. i have long hair and medium thickness. i always get the cosmo-tai and warn that my hair needs help holding curl. when my stylist got to the curling part she asked what barrel i would like and i asked if she could alternate between the two. what is shocking is that i was left with only the big barrel to the smaller barrel not being plugged in. my stylist asked for help multiple times and never received any help. i was also suppose to get a braid (which is $15) and did not get it because the braid looked so poor. i go to check out and they try to charge me for a braid when clearly there is no braid in my hair. i left disappointed and didn't have any more time to be there (i was there approximately 1hr and 20 minutes). i called explaining how i was disappointed in my services. i was asked if i wanted to come back and get it fixed. i didn't have anymore time left in my day to sit there even longer to get my hair fixed. whoever runs this franchise/store should be embarrassed that no one wants to help when someone asks and that their workers are too lazy to plug in a curling iron or go get one that works. read more

Honestly the worst customer service I have ever experienced! Made 4 appointment, received a confirmation, and when I got there was told I didn't have an appointment. They then went back and forth that I did have one or two. The incredibly incompetent receptionist just kept calling a manger, while the stylists were hanging around in the back instead of starting the appointment on time. The receptionist lied that I wouldn't give her my booking number when that was the first thing offered. The manager at the other store, Lisa I believe, then went on a rant about how she needs my booking number when all along that's what I was trying to do. The receptionist was then talking about me, in front of me, to other customers that were walking in! I would never recommend this establishment to anyone. Shame on them! read more

I am obsessed with getting my hair blown-out so the fact that I'm rating this low is shocking even to me. The reason I didn't have a great experience at Dry Bar Frontenac is for a few different reasons: 1) I felt EXTREMELY rushed. They had me washed, dried and styled in a little over 30 minutes. I have long, thick hair so it usually takes much longer. 2) the stylist YANKED on my hair so hard while blow drying, I felt strands of hair around my hairline popping from breakage / being pulled out. It was very painful. I know it wasn't just my stylist, because my three other friends who were there with me said the same thing. 3) the place was packed, even though it was a weekday mid-morning during covid. I am guessing this is why they herded us in and out so quickly. There were partitions between chairs for safety and everyone wore masks, but I had still hoped for reduced capacity. That being said, my end result looked good once I brushed it out a bit more, but I was still very disappointed with the experience. read more

Let me start out by saying my experience at DryBar STL itself, was great- easily 4 stars. There's not much I would change there. My stylist did EXACTLY what I wanted with my hair and my friend and I had a great time. I will get into why it's 4/5 after the next part of my review. The 3/5 stars portion of my review is for DryBar as a company. So we were running late to our appointment, which is our fault and we recognize that. However, we would have been on time, a few minutes early even, if the DryBar CALL CENTER had taken our call instead of putting us on hold for legitimately 15 minutes. Our GPS did not take us to the correct location and we were trying to get some direction. It was our first time there and we do not live in the direct area. So we called DryBar, and got a call center. They put us on hold immediately and when we finally got to speak to a person, all they were able to tell us was "it's across from the mall" without confirming address or any other identifiers. This was of course after they had to spend another 5 minutes asking questions about our email address, phone number, appointment etc, when all we needed was some help getting to the location. We asked to be transferred to the actual Frontenac location and they wouldn't do that. It was impossible to get a hold of anyone actually in Frontenac. We were able to find it and were 15 minutes late to our appointment, when if we had been able to talk to a person right away, likely would have been 5 minutes early. The call center person on the phone also told us that they would have to cancel one of our services (scalp massages). Now I understand that we were late, but they were not helpful in the situation. Now onto Frontenac- the reason I say 4/5 instead of 5/5 is that they also agreed that they would cut our 10 minute scalp massages, but then my stylist was 5-7 minutes LATER coming to get me seated and finished me 15-20 minutes before my friend. I'm not at all blaming her, because she was awesome, but it definitely felt like DryBar cancelled our massages as a punishment rather than out of necessity. Ask for a receipt and check it before you leave!!! I am a frequent customer to this Drybar location. Most of the time the experience is great. Blowout this time is about average. My complaint is that the desk attendant asked how much tip I was leaving and I replied $10. I was charged $20. Because credit card is on file and you don't sign or even see what is being charged, you don't know until you look at your emailed receipt. I didn't look at my receipt from Friday until checking email this morning, it's now Sunday (my mistake). I'm not going to ask for $10 back. The stylist likely already received her tip, and I don't want to take it away. It's not about the $10, it's that my card was charged $20 when I clearly stated $10. I'll be checking my receipts before I walk out the door from now on. read more

When DryBar STL first opened, I was sitting outside at Starbucks killing time, when a beautiful young woman approached to ask if I wanted a free blowout and style. I thought I hit the jackpot! I immediately said yes! The rest is history. I go to DryBar once a week. I have extremely thick, unmanageable hair and I struggle doing it. I had a stroke and my dominant arm was affected. As a result, my arm fatigues easily and I can't even blow dry my hair completely. Shorooq, my stylist, knows my hair as do all the other stylists. They are all extremely professional, compassionate and capable. I can't say enough good things about them. Caroline, the owner, is always so enthusiastic and impressive. She goes above and beyond for her clients. During this pandemic, she and the staff have been adhering to safety guidelines to keep us all safe. Very disappointed and let down..arrived 15 minutes early so I could hopefully get in sooner but didn't receive the text that my chair was ready until a few minutes after my appointment. Once I walked in, the receptionist asked me to sit outside since it was a bit crowded in the waiting area, not a huge deal. Then she said my stylist today would be Lexie but my appointment was actually supposed to be with Kelsey. Turns out she wasn't working that day. Not sure where the miscommunication was as I originally wanted to book with another stylist but she was going to be out of town so she set up the appointment for me with Kelsey. Asked the receptionist how long it'll be and she said about 5 minutes. Somewhat confused about the Covid check-in procedure and then also having to wait additional time after the text says my chair is ready...15 minutes had passed and I was finally called in. Another employee brought me over to the hair washing station and washed my hair since my stylist wasn't finished with her previous client. 30 minutes into my appointment is when I finally sat down in the styling chair for my blowout. I told her I wanted big curls with lots of volume and she spent the next 20 minutes blowing out my hair and adding 3 large curlers. We decided it would be best to finish off my hair using the curling iron (since the blow out didn't give me curls or that much volume). I know she tried and put in effort but it just wasn't what I wanted and I was out of time as I had to leave to get ready for a wedding, which the salon was aware of. Overall, very unsatisfied with the whole appointment beginning to end. Paid $45 for a blow dry as my curls fell within an hour. read more
