My wife and I were recently shopping for a new sofa and, after visiting several stores, decided to stop at the Ashley Furniture location on Broad Street. We have purchased multiple pieces from this store in the past and felt confident doing business there again. Because we have a large family, we needed a sectional and believed we found the perfect one. The salesperson, Phil, was attentive and answered our questions (or sought help when needed). After selecting the sectional, we discussed several important details before completing the purchase. One key factor in our decision was the protection plan. Given that the sofa is light-colored and we have several children, we specifically asked about cleaning coverage. Phil told us the plan included having a company come out to clean the sofa "once a month" if needed. Based on that explanation, we felt comfortable purchasing the plan for $300. We also discussed the option of purchasing an additional piece to make the sectional larger. Phil told us that even if the sale had ended, we would be able to purchase the additional piece at the sale price because we were in the store before the sale ended. The total purchase came to approximately $3,000 ($2,700 for the sofa and $300 for the protection plan). Unfortunately, since the purchase, several issues have arisen: 1. Two days after the sale ended, I called the store and spoke with Phil about purchasing the additional piece. He initially gave me a price, but when I reminded him of our prior conversation, he said the store could not honor the sale price because it was not in writing. This directly contradicted what we were told in-store when we made the purchase. 2. When the sofa later needed cleaning, I called the store to schedule a cleaning. The employee I spoke with, Tamara, was dismissive and unhelpful, and made no effort to resolve the issue. I eventually located another number on my own and was surprised to learn that the protection plan does not include cleanings at all. Instead, I was required to file a claim to see if the issue might be covered. After several days, I was informed that my claim was approved and that a cleaning kit would be sent to me so I could clean the sofa myself. I paid $300 for a protection plan believing it included professional cleanings, not a do-it-yourself kit. This entire experience feels like a bait-and-switch. We relied on the information provided by your salesperson when making a significant purchase, and that information turned out to be inaccurate. This will be the last piece of furniture we ever purchase from Ashley Furniture. We will also strongly discourage our family, friends, and others from shopping here. We feel misled from the beginning, and it is difficult not to conclude that customer satisfaction takes a back seat to sales goals and profit. read more

I purchased tables from the Ashley Furniture on West Broad St in Richmond, VA, for a specific event. When they couldn't deliver on time, I canceled the order. I have been trying to get my money back for over a week now, but it has been a total nightmare. The store tells me to call the Home Office (Accounting), while Customer Service insists it's a store-level issue. I am stuck in an endless loop of 'the runaround' with zero accountability from either side. If you value your time and money, do not purchase from this place. $2000+ recliner is broke 2 weeks after being delivered. Looks get getting a technician out to look at it might be another 2 weeks. I should send the thing back if this is how it's going to be. Delivery Review: I don't think the delivery guys get enough credit. I just got our new bedroom set delivered. The two person team was VERY courteous, clean, well groomed and both in a very professional looking uniform. The furniture came wrapped in cloth furniture pads AND srink wrapping. Purchase bedroom set in July 18th 2024 for spare bedroom. On March 16th 2025 bedroom headboard came apart from side board/rail. Contact Ashley's Manufacturer Warranty Department and submitted photos. In response to them it was wear and tear which this is a spare room. This room has only been slept in approximately 20 times . The furniture is only 7 months old. All of this to say be careful of your purchase and make sure you buy extended warranty or look at other furniture stores. read more

I am 63. My Steve is 75. We are low income living on social security retirement and disability. We do however have savings. Not enough however to purchase three rooms of furniture outright. So we went to Ashley Furniture to look around talk to a salesperson and try to get at least a three year payment plan. When my husband contacted the store he was told there were one two three and five year payment plans. We dealt with a sales woman named Caroline who at first seemed very nice. We told her we needed furniture for small spaces. She led us to a pretty blue couch and we all sat down. She had me fill out a credit application. When I told her my Steve and I had never applied for credit before she was incredulous. "You've never applied for credit before?" I thought her eyebrows would disappear into her scalp. I filled out the obligatory forms. Then Caroline came over and began throwing numbers around. I heard eight thousand for everything 29 percent interest payments of 290 a month. Then she asked me to check off boxes on the form. When I wanted to ask questions like What am I agreeing to those numbers seem awfully high, she would not respond just said You want to get approved don't you?" Unlike the person my husband spoke to Caroline only spoke about a one year payment plan. When we told her my Steve spoke to someone about longer payment plans she said"If you get approved we can work something out." Turns out we were not approved. We are honest people who don't owe anything to anyone we have a clean record, but because we don't have a credit card. .. I felt judged. Caroline said things like"I established credit when I was seventeen." When my Steve explained that we can't afford the 18 percent interest rate she said, "That's the way the world does it why can't you do it?" From my Steve: The reason we don't have a credit card, is because we pay everything we buy in cash, check, or money order. Everyone accepts cash. We don't need a card because we pay everything in cash. And the credit cards charge ridiculous interest rates. It's a ripoff. This is why people in this country are in credit card debt. We are going to a thrift store where it will it cost less. We didn't like Caroline's attitude." From Jackie I was disappointed. I really liked the couch and wanted to deal with Ashley. But now I see my Steve is right. Thrift shops have beautiful furniture and clothes because many people of means donate lovely things some practically new. Adeeb was quick to greet my partner and I, but then also made sure to give both of us a little space at first to check out the showroom. Coming from California the salespeople are a lot more pushy and it was a welcome to have a chance to "breathe" first. My partner had a sofa in mind that he wanted to get and Adeeb was able to show us the sofa, along with a different model that they had in the store. The other model was the color that we ended up going with, and he was nice to be able to see it in person! Adeeb was also able to price match the sofa that we wanted with the online price, making it get to our new place that much quicker. I am so disappointed in my reclining sofa! I am the only person using it and the reclining cushions have to literally be pulled up after I have sat on them reclined. I only weigh 150 lbs.! I have not even had the sofa for a year, so I cannot imagine how bad it will get. I reached out to customer service and was asked to send pictures, which I did. The response I received was they didn't see a problem. So disappointing as I know friends who have had good experiences which is why I purchased there. They certainly do not stand behind their furniture, even with the "warranty"! read more
