The owner was wonderful: warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely fun to talk with. We chatted about the fabrics and brainstormed what I might sew with them, which made the experience feel extra special. Ingrid confirmed it as soon as I entered. I just purchased my very first sewing machine yesterday, although slightly used and still looking brand new, it did not come with other accessories. "I have a Brother (sewing machine) now, but also have two sisters", I said. Ingrid appreciated the joke and told me she likes corny jokes because she is young at heart. She gave me a tour of this new location and expressed how much bigger and better the lay out is for their needs. At first I thought it was a tiny store until she led me to the back where all the sewing machines were. I just needed needles and the one they carry is the Schmetz brand which is highly recommended compared to Organ. I bought a pack of Universal and Denim needles. Along with my purchase is a raffle ticket for their Grand Opening this Saturday, April 25. Crossing my fingers. This is the store to go to if you want high-end quality sewing machines that you won't find at a Wallyworld. Really serious stuff for embroiders and quilters, plus the supplies you need.

Dropped off my machine and got a call with an estimate of how much it would cost to service it and how they would service it. I gave them the go ahead and it was ready to be picked up the next day. My machine runs so smoothly and perfectly now. I love it! I definitely would recommend them for machine servicing. It looks like they also have an area for quilting and classes. I might pop in and check one of those classes out one of these days.

Unfortunately, the overall experience with We Are Fabrics was disappointing because of the timeline and communication. When I first went in to select my fabric, I explained that I was hoping to have the project completed as quickly as possible. Since it was a custom job requiring the upholsterers to come to my home for measurements, I specifically asked about scheduling. I was told the project would probably take about six weeks. Instead, it took approximately 12 weeks from the time I placed my order and paid my deposit until I received my cushions. As the weeks went by, I had to call several times for updates. That's when I was told the upholsterers were extremely busy and backed up. I completely understand that delays happen, but I wish that had been communicated when I first started the project. Had I known the upholstery department was already booked out, I would have had realistic expectations and been much less frustrated by the delays. If you're considering We Are Fabrics, I think you can expect excellent craftsmanship. Just be sure to ask for a realistic timeline before starting your project.

After you get your fabric cut, you go to a second line to pay, but I only waited about 2 minutes. I guess just timed it right. HINT: they have the full price fabric up by the front door. Skip that and head to the piles of fabric towards the side and back of the store. The only thing I couldn't find there was on brand fabrics like Hello Kitty and the Nightmare Before Christmas. As if their prices weren't low enough, they have a bargain area in the back of the store with even lower prices and other specialty materials like vinyl. Plenty of parking as well.

This is for the Mission Valley Store…read more I am so impressed with this furniture store. Co managers Paul and Sandi are highly professional and articulate/kind communicators. I saw an announcement for the grand opening of this furniture store in Mission Valley. I called and expressed my interest in buying a vintage looking couch in a bright raspberry-ish color. I know; that seemed like a stretch for the furniture stores here in SD. Paul assured me that his coworker Sandi had experience in both retro design and color, and that he'd be happy to send her over to my home for a consult. He told me that there was a fee for the service, but it would be then applied to anything that I purchased. When I told him that would be fine if I could be guaranteed of said design and color options, he said he'd be happy to send her over without a fee. That was a nice first impression! Soon thereafter, bright and cheery and ever so knowledgeable Sandi arrived with a big smile that matched her positive attitude. She measured, looked at the current state of my living room for color, texture and style, as well as asked me for color/style ideas. After providing her with those things, we made an appointment for me to go to the showroom. In the next couple of days-- even before my appointment, she had sent me a couple of sofa shape options as well as a spot on fabric color. Oh my goodness-- a miracle worker! At my meeting with her in the store, she had me test out the sofas for cushion level comfort and depth. Then, it was easier to narrow down my choices. I was there for a couple of hours. I was thrilled that we were pretty much on the same page about what would work-- as well as our collective philosophy of "thinking outside the box". Accordingly, we came up with a fabulous design-- incorporating design elements from 3 different sofas. As if that wasn't enough, the next day she came over-- again, to fine tune both the shape and dimensions, to assure that it would work wonderfully in my home. My new raspberry colored retri couch will arrive any day now, and I am dying to see it! I can't say enough about Sandi and her level of customized customer service---such an anomaly here in San Diego. Please go visit them at their Mission Valley locale-- and tell them that I sent you.
