My machine started squeaking the other day and I realized that I've never had it serviced in all the years I've owned it. I found Paradise Sewing here on Yelp and decided to try them out. Dropped off my machine and got a call with an estimate of how much it would cost to service it and how they would service it. I gave them the go ahead and it was ready to be picked up the next day. My machine runs so smoothly and perfectly now. I love it! I definitely would recommend them for machine servicing. It looks like they also have an area for quilting and classes. I use to love going to this store, but the staff there has been short and unhelpful lately. I stopped in today to pick something up and was met by four people huddled in the doorway who immediately told me they were closed due to a pipe rupturing. They then asked what was I shopping for ( which I didn't understand why that was relevant if they are closed). When I told them I needed fabric and some batting they replied "we can't help you due to the water". I wonder if I wanted an expensive sewing machine if they would have let me in. read more

I heard about Paradise Sewing from a Reddit thread years back and I'm so glad I did. My wife had been sewing on the same machine for over 20 years and we finally upgraded. We purchased a Baby Lock Serger form Paradise Sewing 3 years ago and knew without a doubt we were going back when we were ready for our second machine from Peter. I first need to say: Peter and his team CANNOT be beat. My wife and I live in Los Angeles and will forever drive to Poway to buy machines from Peter. If we ever move out of state and need another machine, we'll fly into San Diego to buy from Peter. They all teach classes on sewing, how to work your machine, quilt making and Clear Blue Tile & Quilting in the Hoop. I took a class with Cyndi and made the nicest bag in 2 classes. Right now, I am taking a class with Sue and making the cutest Honey Bee quilt. She makes the classes fun, informative, and is interactive with you in class and I enjoy her classes very much. Sue offers classes where she works with you, answers any questions you may have, and teaches in a manner that enables everyone to follow along and complete a quilt. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for NICE cotton fabric and don't mind paying a little more to SKIP the JoAnn's lines/wait/rude service. I would happily come here instead. The selection is very specific and fabric area is much more smaller and quaint, but they make up for it in their fabulous service. Each and every time I go into their store, I feel like family. Everyone greets you. Someone will be by your side to help you find your fabric, cut your fabric and ring you up. Wow! this store is by far superior to any other sewing/quilt store I've ever had the privilege of experiencing and I've been sewing for 50+ years. If their great prices don't amaze you, their courtesy, integrity, and their desire to please surely will. Haven't been to this place in ages but needed to get my baby lock sewing machines serviced. The bobbin winder wasn't working and the machine kept jamming up. I've had it for almost 10 years and only got it serviced 1 time. Found out Peter is the new owner. He was super friendly ...great customer service. He diagnosed my machine on the spot and gave me a free estimate. Found out it really needed maintanance . He had to fix my bobbin winder, replace the bobbin case and tuned everything up for me. He gave me a discount for servicing my machine and it only took 2 hours to fix everything! I'm happy this place is still business. read more

I have been a customer of Paradise Sewing for many years. I have learned that working with any business is a two-way street. In this instance, it is my responsibility to ask questions so that I understand how the servicing of my machine works. But, I also feel any store needs to provide an estimate when I drop off my machine, and should call me if they come across issues that will add to the final price of my machine repair. I recently had such a surprise, and, after discussing with Peter, he was more than fair with the final price. Secondly, I purchased a machine that ultimately was having issues with stitches skipping. After two unsuccessful repairs, I called the Pfaff corporate office who suggested Paradise Sewing send my machine in to them. They said it would take at least 8 weeks. After about two months, Peter called and told me the district manager and he had decided they were going to give me a new machine. I can't tell you how happy and relieved I was to hear this news. This is excellent service. Throughout the time I was without this main machine, Peter had offered to loan me another machine from the store. I declined because I had another more basic machine that I preferred to use. Lastly, the staff at the store is very helpful. I've purchased several Accuquilt dies, and am really happy they carry this brand. If you can't find anything you want, ask for it. Sometimes you might have to call to remind them about items they've ordered for you, but hang in there, and you will get it. I'm also pleased they are beginning to carry some great fabric lines such as Tula Pink's. I look forward to taking more classes now that we're pretty much through this current phase of covid. Laura Jimenez sold me a beautiful sewing machine. I was able to buy it on 0% percent interest on there store credit. I had a very large unexpected expense that came up right after I bought it. I went back to the store very upset. Laura had her manager talk to me and we were able to make a different payment plan Which I really didn't think they would do. I am so grateful for Mr. Peter and the staff at Paradise Sewing for their exemplary and friendly customer service and repair of my Kenmore sewing machine. The machine is quite old and I had it in to be repaired at another store for irregular stitching and skipping and the machine came home doing the same thing. Mr. Peter looked at the machine and smiled and said he had worked on these machines with his father, talked of it's good quality,and said he understood them well. He identified the problem immediately and said they could (and they did) fix it). The repair was done in a few days and I now have a functioning machine again! Yay! Thank you Paradise Sewing! I purchased a new Baby Lock Soprano machine from Peter a couple years ago. I received training on the machine and help when I had technology issues I didn't understand. They were so fair and helpful to me. This week I took my Bernina 830 into have him clean and repair it. I've owned my Bernina for nearly 50 years. Felt so loved and cared for when I stopped by to get an estimate on a broken sewing machine. I was weary about asking for a quote since the first sewing place I went to gave me a ridiculous estimate by racking up so many miscellaneous service fees when all I wanted was to fix the part where the thread kept jamming in the bobbin casing. I was greeted and helped right away without a moment to spare! The lady who swooped in and helped me I believe was the owner. She knew right away what was wrong and even took the time to show me why the thread kept jamming and taught me how to maintain the machine. She was so honest when she said the service would cost the same amount as the price of the machine and that is wasn't worth getting it serviced. So with some elbow grease and sandpaper she fixed it up in no more than 10 minutes! This is definitely a place worth coming to even if it's out of the way. The experience is well worth your time. Everyone is welcomed whether you're completely inexperienced or young. The owner genuinely want people to enjoy sewing! Our 9-year-old vacuum cleaner finally could no longer just be repaired this week so we had to buy a new one. First visit to Paradise Sewing ever and was greeted by owner Peter. I was only looking to possibly replace my 30+ year old Pfaff 1471 machine. Showed me a few machines that were equal to what my old machine was, but much improved over the years. To make a long story short I walked out after purchasing a Pfaff Quilt Expression 720. Peter gave me such a deal that it was hard to walk away. I not only got the machine, he added into the deal the following. So I also got the table top extension, cone thread holder attachment and is having the insert made so that I can still use my original cabinet. We had planned a day to take drive and I looked up a few sewing machine stores to stop at. Paradise was on the list to stop at among with a few others. I had done my research online and had a good idea as to what I wanted and what they sold for. So when Peter gave me the price I was well aware of how good a deal it was, especially with the additional items. If you are in the market to buy a sewing machine I would check out Paradise Sewing in Poway. They carry many different brands of machines so I'm sure you will find what your looking for. As for me Paradise Sewing isn't local to me, but I will return if I need any additional supplies, classes or to get help. Visited again on February 7, 2020.
