An expansive chapel with cathedral ceiling, ample sized bridal room to accommodate the makeup artist & hair talent as well as comfortable seating for the bridal party and spaces to change. A very long mirror with bar seating for last minute hair primping and lip gloss reapply. This is my second wedding guest visit to this venue for a medium sized 200+ guest wedding. As other Yelpers have mentioned form and function. This venue gets the form right. My experience is as a humble guest who attends several weddings a year. Not in expertise by opinion only: Where ASG improved from a previous wedding reception was the staff seemed more capable. Where the experience echoed or fell down comparatively to a previous wedding reception and tonight was operations or function. What do I mean? The chapel is beautiful, the reception hall is expansive and the experience as a guest at the reception was somewhat surprisingly sad and disappointing. What do I mean? Function: No guests guidance. Tonight for 200+ guests things were quirky & seemed off with service. Function: There was no discernible heat in the reception area. It remained that way for the duration. No management visible to kindly discreetly dialogue. I looked. Function: One server at a buffet table, serving 200+ guests. Function: Kitchen service was slow. Form: Food was tasty. Rolls were excellent. Form: Staff seemed more capable but still unenthusiastic or engaging. Still a plus. Context: The MC spaced tables adequately but the que did not move much waiting on replenishment and being a one woman show. I want to be positive and fair. This repeats previous observation. Summing it up: I would recommend this place with a cautionary note about the food service and lack luster experience of ghosted senior staff members. I'm no expert. My take is in experience only. We got married at Ashton Gardens West in October. Our wedding day was beautiful and the venue itself is stunning--spacious, bright, with huge chapel windows, natural greenery, and a newly renovated reception space with gorgeous wood floors. Having both the ceremony and reception onsite was exactly what we were looking for. However, AGW was the most difficult vendor we worked with out of the 10 that we hired. They market themselves as an "all-inclusive" venue with in-house vendors (photographer, DJ, catering, cake, stationery, etc.), but their vendors are significantly overpriced compared to others we researched. They also only offer a few vendor showcase events per year, and since we live out of state, we couldn't attend. Without attending these events, you really can't evaluate the quality of their in-house vendors before committing. We purchased the Essentials Vendor package which comes with a planner, DJ, stationary credit, and other things that honestly didn't add value. Their slogan is "We Promise to Deliver an Exceptional Experience," but our experience fell far short. There was constant red tape and upcharges for nearly everything. Extra hour to get ready? Costs more. Extra hour at the end of the night? Even more (and the price difference between the two isn't justified). Outside catering? $50 per person. We had to negotiate almost every detail, including the outrageous catering buyout fee. Thankfully, we managed to negotiate a flat rate, but the original pricing was unreasonable. Our planner, Sheilah, functioned more like a coordinator and often pushed back on simple requests. During our early meetings, when we asked if she could help set up basic items on the day of our wedding, like our guest book or table numbers, the answer was simply "no", which is odd because it's her job to help with these things. She also pushed back on seating 10 guests per table even though we explained that other venues with identical table dimensions do this regularly. It often felt like she was policing us on behalf of the venue instead of helping us customize our day. Despite being told that she had experience with cultural weddings, she missed key elements that were part of Vietnamese culture during the rehearsal. The week of the wedding, I had emailed a detailed timeline to all my vendors. For some reason, she did not copy the same notes from my timeline onto hers. The night before the wedding, I had to ask her to print my timeline to ensure that we were aligned. Our photographer did a better job at coordinating the day of our wedding than our actual coordinator. The DJ experience was disappointing. My husband and I had a 30 minute meeting with DJ Daven and another gentleman months before our wedding. I uploaded some music to Vibo app ahead of time, explaining the vibe we wanted. I also emphasized repeatedly--including in a 30-minute call with the venue manager, Gilbert --that we needed working microphones for BOTH ceremony and reception so that 270 guests could hear our vows. Despite discussing this with multiple staff members, we had no microphone at the ceremony. Most guests couldn't hear anything, which I felt was the most important and meaningful part of the wedding. On top of that, during open dance, DJ Daven played some songs that didn't match our preferred vibe, and I had to walk over to the DJ and request for more crunk music. The bar package also felt misleading. It included a "signature drink," but AGW only allows ONE, not one for a "his" and "hers" which is what we typically see at weddings. We very limited with our drink options. This made the perk feel more like a restriction than a value-add. Overall, we had an amazing wedding because of the people we love and the effort we personally put into planning. The venue itself is gorgeous, but working with AGW as a vendor was a constant headache. Their in-house vendors are expensive, inflexible, and often lack attention to detail. Their pricing model feels designed to nickel-and-dime couples for anything outside their strict template. You can have a beautiful wedding here, but expect to put in a lot of extra work and negotiation if you want a truly personalized experience. read more

We had the best experience with Ashton Gardens! Sheila provided experienced guidance throughout the entire planning process. The chapel is beautiful and the reception space was elegant and easy to work with. The choices they have from all of their vendors was great. We didn't need to look anywhere else to provide anyhthing! Our day of coordinator, Brooke, was completely in control of the day. She kept us on track, was attentive to all of our needs, answered all of our questions and was very reassuring. The invitations were beautiful, the photographer was creative, the food was exceptional, the cake was amazing, the florals were absolutely stunning, and the DJ kept everyone on the dance floor the entire night. No one actually answers to address any questions you have. Anyway that has been my experience. Maybe once I got through.. can't remember. More people on phones would enhance the service. Ashton Gardens West was the very first wedding venue that I viewed. I fell in love with the Chapel and the fact that the banquet room had windows gave it more of an open feeling compared to most banquet halls. And who wouldn't fall in love with the gorgeous chandeliers! But boy do I regret my decision! The ultimate disrespect was Brittney doing the moment of silence in memory of my recently deceased father before I even entered the Chapel despite it clearly being stated on my Order of Ceremony to be done AFTER I walked down the aisle. I was so upset with my Pastor because I thought he'd forgotten. It wasn't until I viewed a video of the ceremony that I realized that Brittney did it before I entered. How much sense does that make??? And as a coordinator she should know not to walk down the aisle after the ceremony has started. On the video, Brittney walked down my rose petal layered aisle and walked up to the Pastor and whispered to him to do the moment of silence. So tacky! The second most disrespectful thing the venue did was put us out! We paid up to 10:30pm, BEFORE 10:30pm the last song was played, and the off-duty jerk of an officer began being rude and telling people they had to leave. He even shined his flashlight on people. My mother who is elderly and walks with a limp and my Aunt who is wheelchair bound were rushed also in an extremely rude manner. My Maid of Honor asked Brittney if they do this to everyone. I hope it wasn't because we were Black. I more-so think it's because they run weddings like an assembly line; like another number. No wedding was after ours. About two weeks prior to my wedding, I noticed that Scarlett's demeanor came off like she didn't want to be bothered and I was not a Bridezilla by any means. Well come to find out, she had given her two weeks notice. I wasn't surprised by this news; it explained Scarlett's lack of interest. So, after working with her for nearly a year, I was told two weeks before my wedding that the Sales Director, Brittney Smith, would now be my Day of Coordinator. Thank God I hired my own Day of Coordinator outside of the venue! Kouture Elite Planning saved my wedding day!!! The venue is very strict and used to basic cookie cutter weddings. If you want individuality and for your wedding to reflect your personality, then likely this isn't the venue for you. I had to get "approval" from the Operations Manager to utilize acrylic heart shaped place cards opposed to the old school paper ones. Why would something like this need approval if it's serving the same purpose? I found the venues stringent rules hard to work with. I was discouraged not to have a runner in the Chapel because it was a "tripping hazard". The venue provided what they considered to be a snack. It was horrible! It was me and 3 Bridesmaids and they provided like 3 slices of cheese and a few pieces of fruit. We didn't even touch it. I was told that I couldn't use a bubble machine during our first dance because it would make the dance floor slippery. My Maid of Honor's mother owns her own bakery in Washington D.C. and I've always known she'd make our wedding cake. The venue made her jump through so many hoops to get "approved" as an outside vendor. Plus, I read one of the reviews and it mentioned the Bride felt the wedding was "rushed". Despite me discussing upfront with both Scarlett and Brittney about I didn't want to feel "rushed" on my big day that's exactly what took place. The venue provided sparklers for our exit in place of the fireworks. The venue required guests to lineup in the parking lot which made for unattractive exit pictures. I was told the venue does it this way to prevent smoke from the sparklers entering the building. Ridiculous! I was so disappointed at our rehearsal. I was 15 minutes late. We ran through the rehearsal quickly and my elderly mother asked if we could run through it again and because we had reached 1-hour time limit Brittney denied us the opportunity. Where to begin this review? Background: I attended my brothers wedding August 1 at 7 p.m. It was a long awaited event considering this location is brand spanking new. Didn't know whether to expect a new unorganized mess or perfection, like the new car smell! The venue: the location is not ideal, but we were not there for that. The actual building is beautiful. Once inside you forget where you are exactly. The chapel was simple, but elegant. Being an evening wedding, the chapel was beautiful at sun down! The only negative was the limited view of the outside. Trees and a fence, but none the less beautiful. The reception is where you get the real treat! When I walked in, it was breath taking! It was perfect, not too big or too small. The decorations were the perfect touch of elegance and simplicity! It was just right like Goldilocks porridge! The reception hall over all was perfect! Clean and well put together. The staff: While speaking to my brother and sister-in-law, they had nothing but wonderful things to say about the staff. Their wedding planner was present throughout the whole event to make sure things ran smoothly. The wait staff from the wedding staff was amazing not only with the bride and groom, but with all guests! Respectful and very professional. The Food: Yummy! From the appetizers during cocktail hour to the main course meal, the flavor was delicious! We had various appetizers from coconut shrimp to mini sliders... And all were super tasty. The main course was Chicken Cordon Bleu, and I will say, I wish I could have had seconds! Overall: I would highly recommend this place for your wedding or any special event. Over $7,000 for unlimited open bar and they ran out of alcohol. Is that fair? As others have warned, yes the venue is nice, but there are significant issues with management. They were responsive when money was due but after our event was over they have ignored MULTIPLE text messages, emails, & phone calls. We would have been happy to try to resolve this by other means, but be prepared to be ignored after your event is over. We upgraded to the premium bar package because our favorite liquor was listed. It cost us over $7,000. Only a third of our guests drink, but the bar still ran out of our preferred liquor. It was our wedding day and we couldn't get the drink of our choice. Additionally, their payment website is not very advanced & one of our payments went through twice (ahead of schedule). We were told not to worry about it & since we overpaid the additional would be refunded after the wedding or deducted from any vendor fees. Well we were charged the vendor fees after the wedding & no word on the over payment. Another issue we had was that during the wedding our cake cutting was not clearly announced so our guests were unaware & the cake was not served - it was placed on a back table on one side of the venue so many guests did not get cake & there was SO MUCH CAKE LEFT OVER. All paid for & thrown in the trash. We realized many of these wedding vendors/sites just try to be nice up front & get your business but they know you're not coming back any time soon so once they get your money they really don't care. It is against my nature to write reviews - good and bad. I believe in face to face communication. I believe in building people up and not tearing them down. Unfortunately, my communication with this venue has been less than helpful, and I believe future brides must have facts before they drop their life-savings. My first caution to any bride considering this venue is go read the lower star reviews. Every single one is answered from a narcissistic, never say "sorry," gaslight the reviewer standpoint. I imagine this one will be no different. This venue has built a culture of lying and casting blame on anyone but themselves. They do not believe in personal accountability, and it's to their detriment. I have coordinated many weddings, and the last place I expect problems is with the venue. Never before have I had to cover up so many mistakes, lies and problems so my bride could enjoy her evening in peace. At the personal request of the bride, I recently was the bride's coordinator for a July wedding at Ashton Gardens West. The venue is beautiful, and I had high hopes for the day going as planned. Early on, as I was decorating the main room, the on-staff coordinator was having a heated disagreement with one of the staff in front of me and my partner- completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Several times, we overheard them complaining that they had worked too much and didn't want to do our Thursday wedding. The bridal suite and groom's suite were atrociously hot. The bride was literally sweating as her make up was being put on. They ran out of food at the reception, even before everyone had been through the line first. I realize we had a few unexpected extra people (10 ish - most were children), but there was not even a little extra, apparently. The staff had no problem communicating with our DJ about their needs until it came to "last call". I am quite certain that they had run through all the allotted alcohol they wanted to use at that time and didn't want to announce it, but just shut it down. I'm sure there are a plethora of excuses and honestly I wouldn't be writing this if it had only been one or two things. As a result of shutting down the bar with no warning, we had one of our guests thrown out for asking questions (once again, I get it but this was avoidable - no one communicated with me that the bar was going to be shut down.) The bride had given them my email address twice for clarification and schedules, but they never bothered to email me. They knew it was a problem because they tried to stop the bride after her last dance to explain themselves. They lied to my face that it was the bride's fault because of what she chose instead of working with me to fix problems. I think my biggest pet peeve of all is when you lie to save your butt. I can work through just about anything if I have facts and truth. At the end while my people were still there, the staff got in an argument justifying their actions instead of taking this to a private corner. It was completely unprofessional. We ended up leaving an hour early after the guest was kicked out, because no one wanted to stay. It was also completely rude that the venue staff started setting up for the next day before our time was up, or we were gone. We were ready to leave, but it also felt like we were being forced out. This venue has a culture of lying, bickering, backstabbing, rushing people for their own gain and discounting what other people have to say. I literally caught the coordinators in several lies. They play people off each other and lie to save face. They mow over people instead of actually caring about their client, and it will catch up to them. I don't have time to write this review. I gain nothing from this review. I hope they are able to install a culture that listens and honors people, but until then, I absolutely cannot recommend them. read more

Was just a bridesmaid there today at my friend's wedding. The rehearsal the day before went smoothly, and Meagan the wedding coordinator seemed on top of everything, she was always there to answer any questions and keep us on time. The chapel was gorgeous, although I was scared of falling off of the small step I had to stand on the stage, it was about 1ft wide. If I had to compare this chapel to the other Ashton Garden on the North side of Houston, I'd say this one wasn't as beautiful, but still nice. The only reason I say that is because the background did have a white walled fence, and trees that are yet fully grown, so once they're big enough to hide the wall it'll look a lot nicer. The dressing rooms for both the bride and groom were clean and spacious enough for our small party. Lots of mirrors, a private restroom, and a steamer for our use. The open closet to hang the dress could've been a bit taller so that the dress wasn't touching the ground so much, and it would've been nice to have more counter space in the private restroom for more than 1 bridesmaid to get ready in there as well. In the groom's room they had a foosball table and the decor was more "manly". I wish the girls had a table game in there too, but it's more understandable that the bride and bridesmaid need as much room as possible to get ready. The reception area was beautiful, the wait staff were very friendly and professional. The food was delicious, salmon, beef, and chicken, and the appetizers were also delicious. Not sure if the announcer had a quiet voice, or if the speakers weren't loud enough, but it was some what difficult to hear him from any spot in the reception area. There should also be a way to connect both the chapel and reception area with a long hallway in case of rain, because we had to be shuffled in while it was sprinkling outside. I'd definitely love to go back to another wedding there, lots of parking, clean and lovely chapel and reception area, and helpful, professional staff. I had my wedding there in December 2015. Everything from wedding planning and coordinating to the end of the actual wedding went smoothly. Working with my wedding coordinator was amazing as well. Guests absolutely LOVED the food. I went to the food tasting beforehand and picked out what i wanted. One thing i want to add- i received many complaints from guests. The menu i chose for my guests included a fruit and cheese bar while guests were being served drinks. However, ALL of my guests did NOT see the fruit/cheese bar set up on the other side of the ballroom. After about 30 minutes of mingling and drinking, some of the guests noticed the waiters taking the UNTOUCHED and UNEATEN fruit/cheese. One of my guests asked the waiter if some of them could grab a few things from the huge platter, but they were told that they couldn't. So basically- my husband and i paid for a nice fruit and cheese bar that was taken to the kitchen... Uneaten. We probably wasted a few hundred dollars on just that... That is probably the only complaint i have about this Venue. Other than that, my wedding was absolutely beautiful and went so smoothly. Just amazing! From the first time I saw Ashton Gardens West (under construction) I knew I wanted my wedding here and I'm beyond grateful I was able to make my dreams come true! The chapel is breathtaking and makes for gorgeous pictures! The reception hall is very highly finished and can be dressed up or dressed down. We used half of the ballroom and there was more than enough space! From the beginning of signing the contract to the very end with everything in between, Brittney was a blessing! She answered all questions I had quickly and always made me feel like I was the only bride having a wedding there. During one of the planning meetings we met Scarlett who also assisted Brittney in the end. I brought in a lot of my own decor and they were so accommodating and made all of my visions become a reality! The food was delicious and we had nothing but compliments from all the guests about how beautiful the venue was and how good the food tasted! The positive reviews here are over a year old. The negative feedback is current and accurate. My family was the latest victim of this venue. While the promotional photos look lavish the actual grounds are sparse. Luckily our florist created a canopy with hydrangea and roses for some color The waitstaff is amateur at best. With an $11,000 food and beverage minimum the set up looked like a teens BBQ. I had to insist the open bar ordered was offered but still could not get champagne. There was no table wine service and when I asked the manager in charge to please get a server to go to each table with wine he acted like that was extra. He told me they were serving food! They did not do as I asked and simply brought a bottle of wine and set it on the table There were no servers offering the appetizers and the food, allegedly upgraded, was room temperature with the sauces glazed as if they had been sitting for too long before making the table The nice part about a wedding is that the guests are so full of love that they do not notice the failures of the venue. Those observations remain for the family I was concerned all along that this place, while priced equally to event venues at the ZaZa and the Omni would fall short of expectations. I was just married at Ashton Gardens on 6-27-20 and the entire planning process with this team was seamless, fun, easy, and minimal stress! The venue is absolutely gorgeous, elegant, extremely clean, and has so many spots for beautiful photos inside and out. The food was DELICIOUS and guests could not stop talking about it! My wedding coordinator, Shelby, made sure everything was exactly as I wanted while planning, and kept us all on task on the day of which made us less stressed. Brittney also helped us with planning and made it fun and personalized and also recommended a few things for us which we had not previously thought to do. Our bartender, Rich, was loved by all, and our personal server, Nina, was so attentive for us the entire evening. My girls and I loved getting ready in the beautiful bridal suite which has the perfect area for getting hair and make up done. The guys also loved the groom's suite which has a television and a foosball table to keep them busy while waiting. The entire team worked hard to have the entire venue disinfected, spotless, and all employees were wearing masks and gloves. My guests and I agreed that we felt safer and cleaner at Ashton Gardens than we do going to a grocery store! This review that I am writing is later than I had desired it to be because of the hectic new wedding planning I've had to plan in a matter of three months due to Ashton Gardens. My wedding planning with Ashton gardens began with an inquiry that did not get a response until a week later, and the response only came after emailing the staff about my inquiry. Nonetheless, my fiance and I went with Ashton gardens but we should have taken their behaviour as a warning. Throughout my wedding planning with Brittney Smith, whenever I requested anything, I was met with an unaccommodating, dry, denial; about absolutely anything. This worried me, because I felt like their behavior was a reflection of the service on the wedding day. I was afraid that they would make my day more difficult given how they were unaccommodating in the planning. I worried about their service in regards to food, setup, and hospitality with the guests. I made it clear to Brittney with this exact message just four, four months before the wedding, "Brittney, I am having an issue in which we believe your unaccomodation to make the bride and groom happy throughout this planning process will be a reflection on Ashton Garden's service and standards on the wedding day. I do plan on making a review after the wedding about how difficult it has been to get any sort of accommodation from the venue." The response I received was completely uncalled for, extraordinarily unprofessional, and disrespectful. My email was then forwarded without my permission and my fiance received a call with the threat of cancelling the wedding, just four months before the wedding, and conveyed the message that they would no longer want to work with me and would only work through a different member of my family, a wedding planner, or my fiance. To this, I called Brittney and let her know that I would like to speak to her manager, Shara, she provided me the number and I left her a message. Minutes after my message, my fiance, not me, gets a call the they have terminated our contract. Completely unprofessional, they would not speak to me. There was no attempt from higher staff to discuss the matter or to understand, and nothing had been said to warrant this reaction. I had to terminate contracts with furniture vendors, charger plates, makeup artists, etc. I was left with a little less than four months, four months, to find a new venue, and change everything that I had set with Ashton Gardens to a new venue. I had to notify all my guests of this change, and order and send new invitations. They know the preparation that goes into a wedding, and yet they terminated with me for nothing. I pray that anyone looking to use this venue know how disrespectful, unprofessional, unaccomdodating end extremely not understanding they are. Please take notice that they have the right to terminate three, a merely three months before your wedding date for no reason and you could be left planning a new wedding in a matter of months. read more

The reception area was perfect with a fully staffed bar and restrooms right outside which were very clean. The food was better than most of the food I have had a weddings. This venue exceeded my expectations - Wedding Day events was executed to perfection. The wedding coordinator Bethany was exceptional. The food was fabulous and the venue sparkled. Any unplanned situations by the wedding party and not the venue was quickly turned into a happy solution by the coordinator. The only area of improvement that I would suggest is to fix the cooling problem in the men's dressing room. It was extremely uncomfortable in that room due to inadequate cooling. read more
