I also really appreciate that he takes the time to review clips I send from my solo wall practice and gives me useful feedback in between lessons. That's another thing, taking lessons with him has given more enough courage to book a court and practice on my own. I brought a small bag with roughly 15 tennis balls, which seemed pretty reasonable given that the entire purpose of my reservation was to serve. Shortly after I got on the court, the shorter female attendant came over and told me that only six tennis balls are allowed on a court at a time. I understand that there may be a rule intended to prevent people from conducting unauthorized private lessons, where someone might show up with a giant cart of balls and a student. But I was completely alone on the court, not giving a lesson, and literally just practicing my serve. So I spent my one-hour court reservation repeatedly picking up six balls at a time instead of being able to practice efficiently. I guess technically I was coaching myself, but apparently that isn't allowed either. I have no issue with reasonable rules, especially if they're intended to prevent court abuse, but this felt unnecessarily rigid in a situation where there was clearly no lesson or misuse of the court happening. The courts are nice enough, but I'll look elsewhere for a place where I can actually use a tennis court to practice tennis.

There's a splash pad area but I don't know when those operate. The bad: There's no designated parking lot. We parked on the street but it can be difficult to find parking because of all the apartment complex tenants. The interesting; There were garden workers maintaining the park when I came so they were leaf blowing the area and there was dust everywhere.

As a coach, professionalism, patience, and encouragement are essential, particularly when working with players of different skill levels. Constructive feedback is always appreciated, but it should never come across as belittling or disrespectful. The overall atmosphere made the session uncomfortable rather than enjoyable. For an organization associated with a five-star property, I expected a much higher standard of customer service, professionalism, and respect toward participants. I sincerely hope the management reviews this feedback and ensures that future sessions reflect the level of hospitality and professionalism that guests expect.

I also just signed up my youngest son who turned 3 years old, and so far he's grown to enjoy playing especially with his older brother. Unfortunately we are moving to San Diego, but we'll miss coach Sergui a lot. He is a great tennis coach. He understands how to make the game fun for kids and how to teach the fundamentals. This is a great tennis program in El Segundo park. I highly recommend it. It's been tough during the pandemic. He is not allowed to have group lessons, but he can do private or semi-private lessons. My son & I were supporting his friend who had a part in the "Alice in Wonderland" musical at Hermosa Beach Community Theater. After the show, the kiddos wanted to hang out at Hermosa Beach Skate Park, which is west (behind) of the theater. The skate park is a concrete park that has various obstacles like ramps, funbox, manny pads, ledges, & rails for all skill levels, & open for drop-in use. It seems smaller than the one in Wilson Park that closed in the late 2000s. Skateboards, in-line skates, & scooters permitted; no bicycles. Safety gear (helmet, elbow pads, knee pads) are required; in-line skaters must also wear wrist guards. Failure to comply with rule or code of conduct may result in suspension; the City of Hermosa Beach may also close the skate park at their discretion. There's free parking available; the driveway is just east of the skate park's entrance. It wasn't that busy on a late Sunday afternoon, probably because the weather was slightly chill. Some of the older kids (middle school?) were more advanced than the younger ones. They were either on skateboards or scooters, with one in-line skater. Of course, there's always a couple of hooligans that don't follow park rules... they were attempting to triple skate together on a scooter down the ramp. Of course, it was an abysmal attempt. O_o The ramp wasn't too high so it's not probable for a major injury or concussion. But what if it's that 1% chance? Why risk it? And to the point of getting caught & having the skate park closed to others in the community that follows the rules & uses it appropriately? Especially since there's only a handful of skate parks in the South Bay. My son didn't have his gear because it was an unexpected play date. He has a skateboard, but prefers his scooter & bike because he's more skilled in those. He mostly stayed outside or along the perimeter to chat with his friend. I couldn't find any rule of pedestrians/observers preventing them from being inside since they're not active skate participants. As a general rule of thumb, safety-wise, I told my son to stay outside to avoid unnecessary accidents. He went in when he noticed fewer skaters/scooters & no one was roughhousing. It's a bit far from our place, but if his friend is into skateboarding, we can come hang out next time with his scooter at Hermosa Beach Skate Park.
