Tiny pocket park at the end of a one way street in Culver West. Bordering on apocalyptic on a rainy day with how empty it was. Their little playground and community center is used though. Just looks run down. Nice playground that is. There's a track, tennis court, field, basketball court, tennis walls, and picnic tables. Pretty cool find actually. Guess it's popular when it's not raining but lucky me I came on a bad day. read more

This is a good family park. Great place for children and families. I like the track and field, and tennis courts. I play tennis with my girl sometimes. She like this park too. I played a little basketball with some random strangers last time I was here. She made new friends playing tennis here. So, its not a bad park after all for the first time. read more

I just recently discovered this park. Another mom was telling me about it, saying it's more suitable for babies/ young toddlers. She was right. I was pleased to see that Culver West Alexander Park has a gated toddler area! This is perfect for little ones. It has two small slides and a playhouse. The other side of the park is great for kids of all ages. Slides, swings, climbing wall. The structures seem well maintained and clean. There is a large grass area, a basketball court, and a tennis court. I was able to find parking on the street and there is also a small parking lot near the park. I love how this park is kind of tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. read more

Very popular park accessible from 3 different streets. I would advise against trying to find parking by going down Wade. There are a few parking lot spots at the end of the cul de sac where the park is located, but those spots seem to always be full and taken. The playground has two 2 sections. A gated section is for the littlest kids 2 yrs and under to play. The ungated section was definitely where my 3 and 5 yr olds wanted to spend their time. There's a small zip line, but the handles are so high up that a parent would need to lift even a tall 5 year old up so that they can grab the bar. Plenty of grass surrounds the playground. There are 6 picnic tables right next to the playground. Best to reserve those with the city if you're thinking to throw a birthday party there. The weekend we went, there were 3 birthday parties simultaneously. One party had the 6 tables reserved. The other 2 parties brought their own set up and set up on the grass around. read more

We came here around 3:30-4pm on a weeknight. We got the playground we noticed someone just just sprayed some type of cleaning product to sanitize the playground. The aroma was very strong and I couldn't put my finger on what it was. I went to my car and grabbed a towel to wipe down the slides as it was super wet! Wet enough to soak your baby bottom. There was about 10-14 kids actively playing. There was no signs posted that they just cleaned the playground and not to play. I got home and noticed my dark clothing I had worn to the park had stains. I took a closer look and it was bleach solution they had sprayed. I wish I've had known and I would have not allowed my baby to play. There was bleach solution touching all the kids skin and they were breathing all of the toxic fumes in! I'm not sure if it's just this park or all parks across Los Angeles county! Be aware if it's wet assume it's bleach! read more

Great park! I live in the neighborhood and will often run to and around it with my dog. There are a lot of courts for recreational play, and a sweet, small playground where kids always look like they are having fun on. The only true problem that I have is the people that have their dogs off leash that are not under good voice command - a lot of people let their dogs off leash here. I have a dog that can be very aggressive with other dogs - even with warning to dog owners that my dog will bite theirs, they have still let their dog approach us. I have no problem as long as your dog listens and responds to you; if your dog is not under voice command, please do not have them off leash at this park. There are many signs that say dogs must be on a leash. read more

Great hidden gem of a park! The only downside is the lack pf parking. There are about 5-6 spots in the designated lot, and if those are taken, you get to battle the residents for street parking along a tiny residential street. Culver West Park is located at the end of this dead end street. I don't know how busy it gets on the weekends (because I've only gone during the week), but it is really nice when it's not too crowded. I recently went with a lot of mom friends and our kids, ranging in age from 13-19mos. The park was overall pretty clean, although the sand area could be better maintained. There are swings, a nice big see-saw, and plenty of other options for kids of all ages to climb on or slide down. There is also a really cute little playhouse in one area of the park. I like that the area underneath the playground is some kind of a soft, foamy surface (as opposed to cement), so if the kids fall, it shouldn't hurt as much in theory. read more

This is the most walkable playground to us so we come here quite a bit. The good parts about it are that it has a nice playground, plenty of shaded picnic table areas, a nice large, open field, an area to play in sand, and a small gated play area for small babies. The biggest disadvantage, in my opinion, is that it is not fenced in. It's on a quiet cul-de-sac so it's not a highly trafficked area, but there are still cars and trucks that do come by, so you really have to be extra careful. It's also a bit odd that they have some type of preschool program in the building on site, and they let the kids from the school out into the playground and I've always found that to be a bit troubling. Most recently, another mom that I met at the playground and I were talking about how scary that is, to let those young students out into the playground with minimal supervision....there's seriously dozens and dozens of small kids with maybe only a few adults who are mostly close to the building and not out in the playground area. Considering it's not fenced in, that's quite dangerous not just from the prospect of someone wandering off, but also if a predator were to try to snag one of those poor kids. So anyhow, it's a great playground but please be sure to keep a close eye on your kiddos here. It can get swamped when the school lets the students out all at once, but generally not busy at all during off-peak times. read more

I'm so confused!!! LA put up signs recently, around the major entrances to my neighborhood which state it's supposed to be Del Rey, but no one I know calls it that, if anything people call it Marina Del Rey or LA. And now I find out that Culver City owns this park and Washington Blvd. I don't know where I live anymore. Anyway... 1st of all, this place is a couple blocks over from me, and I never go to it. I might have like once or twice when I was little, before they remodeled, but I usually go to LA City's Alla Park, which is a southwest 15 minute walk. Anyway, today I suddenly decided to turn east on our doggie walk, rather then going to Alla. We did a big loop and came through the back entrance which goes between a couple houses on McConnell. At the end of the alley before the park, is a blue sign stating something like "keep dogs on dog trail, marked with paw prints". This little dog trail, curves around the kiddie playground, and leads to the opposite side of the park, past the Wade cul-de-sac and onto Moore Street. It's hardly a trail, but rather a concrete path. I decided what's the harm in sitting on a patch of grass next to the path, while still holding Beck's leash. (He likes to roll in grass). But wouldn't you know...some guy in the recreation building actually came out and told me no dogs are allowed in the park, all the while trying to sweet talk Beck, calling him Poochie. I'm like first of all no one calls my dog poochie, he's only called "noonie" "burrito dog"(when I roll his dog mat over him) or "smelly face". And really? Was he running around biting kiddies? Didn't I have a doggie pick up bag (attached to the leash), and he was still on his leash? ....Something tells me Culver City is really anal about dogs in places they shouldn't be. I guess us responsible and good dog owners have to bare the brunt of irresponsible terrible dog owners. ANYWAY again... The park itself is quite new. They even have a freaking mini rock-climbing-like wall in the kids section of the park. They have tennis courts, a softball court, a soccer field, and a basketball court. They even have a handball court, where I watched 5 grown men going crazy serious on a small hand ball. They also have a recreation building, where they keep the guy who comes out to tell people with dogs to leave, I mean a recreation building that you can get a permit to use. They have night lighting too, which I can see from my bedroom window. This attracts all sorts of night people, like teenagers and night time softball players and such. Today there was a group of teenagers all sitting on the bleachers near the basketball court, and although it wasn't 420, it sure smelled like it. It's an okay park, would be great for someone who actually did some recreating. Or for parents looking to have a kids birthday party. But it's not for dog owners (although there is a fenced off piece of grass on the Moore side, that might be alright to sit on). I guess I'll go to Alla with it's crappy maintained LA City bathrooms and grass, it's ancient playground set. You're supposed to keep your dog on a leash there too, but no one does, and there's no dude there to say not to (but beware every 6 months they swoop down and issue citations, that's another review, of another place though) read more

I've been coming to this park since I was a kid. Fortunately it's been kept up and improved over the years. I love bringing my daughter here because the playground equipment is nice and there are different areas depending on age appropriateness. There are tables and shady areas to relax. It's a great place to have a birthday party... but it's probably a good idea to get there early as there are always parties going on and I'm sure reserving a table is tough. Bathrooms are kept fairly clean. They also have a nice rec room which is sometimes open for play with ping pong and carrom tables etc. This park is small but cute :) read more

Great park with shade from older trees - lovely and kid friendly.

So I come around this local park once in a while to shoot around. They have a decent tennis court, and a smaller version of a tennis court (What is that anyway?). they have a decent track for running, and a grass field for kicking soccer ball around. There is also a nice park for the younger ones. The issue is that the basketball court's asphault needs some work. There is a split in the asphault that really affects dribbling on one side of the court. Sure, the court is not as big as a regulation sized court, but a nice 4-on-4 or a tight 5 on 5 can definitely happen. There are also a few handball courts that always seem to have folks playing. If you are into that sort of thing, this is your place... read more

Really nice kids, parents & caretakers. But be aware, there's cat poop in the sand, there's graffiti on the walls, (terrible) & my kid has hurt himself several times with the equipment. I also know of 5 other parents who they themselves have been hurt or their children. The rubber mat on the floor is tough & the kids who fall scrape themselves very easily. If you have a babe 2 and younger you know this doesn't work, since the kids are just learning how to walk or balance themselves. Anyhow, there was a previous yelper who sated that teenagers hang out & smoke, that's very true. I live two blocks away and I only come here once in a great while. I rather walk farther or drive to another park. If your kids are older you will enjoy the park. There's tennis courts, handball courts, walk path for dogs & a big grassy area. Enjoy read more

also known as "Wade Park" because of its location, Culver West Park has a lot going for it: -lots of sand to play in -great playground structures for both little littles and the less little -rubber flooring under the structures (not mulch) -tons of shade -adjacent to a big circular dirt walking/running track that goes around a nice lawn -- perfect for kids to scooter around while smaller ones run in the grass -clean restrooms (at least in the mornings) just be advised of the two things this park doesn't have going for it: -parking can be challenging. the lot is small and because it serves the park, the track, a baseball field, and busy basketball courts, street parking is usually your only option, and it can be hard to find. Protip: if you go on a Tuesday, go after 11am, as street sweeping will wipe out half the street of possible spots. -there is a day care/preschool attached to the park, and if you are there during their outdoor playtime, a horde of children will suddenly spill onto the playground and overrun all of it. collect your toys, as they may disappear if you don't! read more
