Now, I'm addicted to this sport and play as much as I can -- in large part thanks to Rhonda. Having a patient, thoughtful coach makes all the difference, and Rhonda is exactly that (and more!). Her enthusiasm and support are infectious. I honestly don't know how she finds joy in watching a bunch of adult-beginners batting around green dot balls, but somehow she makes me feel like I'm playing center court at the US Open! She's incredible at building confidence, which is huge when you're learning something new at any age (but maybe especially as an adult?). Rhonda has a knack for observing you for just a few minutes, pinpointing exactly what's off in your technique, and offering small, easy-to-apply adjustments that make a huge difference. Also when it came time to purchase a REAL racket (not the dinky amazon one I brought to my first lesson), she helped recommend the specs and coordinate the purchase (invaluable because I had no idea what to ask or look for!) The small indoor dinking court was so perfect and they had a large selection of paddles to demo. The staff was very helpful in making recommendations based on my criteria. The 4 courts out back were pretty busy as they were all reserved. However, there was a lesson and they offered us to use one of the courts for a couple of minutes to demo the last 2 paddles we narrowed down to. That helped tremendously! Worth the drive!

Unfortunately, my experience with Coach Kaue was very disappointing. Instead of creating a supportive atmosphere, his communication felt unnecessarily negative, disrespectful, and at times hostile. As a coach, professionalism, patience, and encouragement are essential, particularly when working with players of different skill levels. Constructive feedback is always appreciated, but it should never come across as belittling or disrespectful. The overall atmosphere made the session uncomfortable rather than enjoyable. For an organization associated with a five-star property, I expected a much higher standard of customer service, professionalism, and respect toward participants. I sincerely hope the management reviews this feedback and ensures that future sessions reflect the level of hospitality and professionalism that guests expect.

He also goes at your speed. You can do either group lessons or one on one lessons. I have been doing the private lessons, and I look forward to continuing. I take lessons with him at Westside Terrace club. He heads up the Pro Shop there. His lessons are VERY affordable, and he provides everything you need. I would highly recommend him for tennis lessons. He is is a member of the U.S. Professional Tennis Association, and he is a former Area Training Center Coach for the SoCal section of the National Team, and the private coach of six National Junior Champions. If you are looking for tennis lessons in Culver City, West Los Angeles, or anywhere on the westside, you should definitely reach out to Mike!

You can reserve a court through the LA Department of Recreation and Parks (laparks.org) for just $6-$12 depending on how long you want to play... super easy and affordable. My one watch-out would be that they fill up quick, so make sure you reserve as early as possible. This park has 10 reservable courts, including 4 pro courts designed for lessons or live ball. If those aren't being used, you can usually hop on them too. It's a peaceful neighborhood with a dedicated parking lot, but even if that fills up, there's plenty of street parking nearby. All around, one of the best public tennis options in the city. Highly recommend.

Courts were free for the time being, and is first come, first served. Courts were in fair shape slightly dusty but overall in good shape. Have been back since, and I heard that court reservations and payment will commence this coming Friday. It's just great to be playing again!!

My main issue is that I got a racket with default strings that I had to realign every few shots. I arrived after getting an appointment and I didn't know what tension / setup that I needed. Rodger got 7 rackets, brought me onto the court to try the different tensions, during which, he pointed out a couple of errors I was making on my swing. He also showed me some video clips of Alcaraz, showing his swing and follow through that I wasn't doing. The 53 lb racket seemed to work best so we went with that. Couple of hours later he texted me saying my racket was ready. Rodger is clearly passionate about every aspect of tennis and gives his time and expertise generously.

He did a one-piece string job as well, which is a bit more advanced than the typical two-piece stringing I used to do when stringing my own racquets hunched over a Klippermate on a coffee table! Bonus is a label on the inside of the throat, which lists their contact information and the date & details of the stringing done. He also included a new overgrip, which I didn't need, but nice to have. Five stars.
