Great service at Asia Market. I got what I needed plus more. I was really looking for some fresh mushrooms for a friend's dinner party. I couldn't believe I found aluminum chopsticks here. Same brand as I wanted from San Jose California. I just can't find them in Houston Texas. How weird. The store is small but it has everything for a simple grocery shopping. I come here weekly without fail to get my asian greens - watercress, pea sprouts, yu-choy, a-choy, lotus roots, green papaya, Thai basil, and sometimes the chinese pastries (located near the mushrooms). The produce and store is fresh and clean compared to the other asian supermarkets. I also get my rice here. The ladies are chill. read more

DON'T GO TO THIS STORE. I bought groceries for Thanksgiving, and the sales clerk bagged them. On Thanksgiving, when I opened the bags, some vegetables and other products were missing. I verified what I had against the receipt, which confirmed that the sales clerk did not put all of my purchased groceries in the bag. When I called the Asia Market, the rep said that the store did not make a mistake and would not refund me any money. They cheated me! read more

I'm giving 3 stars only because I didn't have time to truly explore the store. Iy looks like a great place to peruse. I ran in for just one specific thing. I called before I went there and was told they had what I needed. When I got there, only two boxes were available. One was crushed. But it was exactly what I was looking for. it was a frozen item and was great. I do caution you...they don't accept cards for purchases less than $10. (The cashier was going to be nice and let me slide and pay with card, but I ran back and bought something else that caught my eye. ) So bring cash if you are just browsing and want to buy a little something. What a great little Asian market! My husband and I decided to make a hot pot for dinner. Normally we'd go to the market that's further up Broad Street, but a quick search and I found Asia Market. I could spend hours here looking at all the choices. The shelves are well stocked and I found almost everything on my list. I had a full cart but only spent about $150. I totally stocked up. When I was checking out, the woman packing my bags thanked me for shopping there. That's vastly different than the other place. At that place I feel like I am imposing on them. Love the woman who works here, she's very kind every time I check out. They have a pretty good selection of fresh produce and lots of English labels which makes things a little easier. They have a whole isle of cooking supplies that I wish I had the kitchen space for! I just wish they had more meat and fresh seafood. read more

Folks in the West End no doubt are happy now to have an Asian market like this one based on the crowded parking lot at 10 a.m. this morning! They seem to have everything all of the other stores have, and they take cards. They don't have a butcher, though. All of the meat is frozen. And their prices are definitely on the high side. The store is also carpeted. That'll be interesting after a few spills. When on this side of town, I'll stop in, but Far East and Tan-A will likely still be my preferred Asian groceries. read more

Stopped by to grab a couple staple ingredients you need a speciality grocery store for--black soy sauce, good fish sauce, chili paste, various noodles, etc. This place is well stocked, clean, and reasonable. We picked up some great Thai chilis too. Their produce section is not huge but it's solid. Will be back the next time I need something! read more

Amazing service , I asked the day before if they had moon cakes and they didn't and i was sad but the next day i called back and the lady remembered me and sai they had alot in the morning but they were almost all sold out so she saved the rest for us to buy , we live 40 min away from here and it's definitely worth the drive! read more

Amazing place! Crazy good selection of items both ready-made and intensive-cooking. Large array of snacks, dumplings, drinks, and the check-out was completely seamless. They were so polite! Loved the large AND small carts available to customers. Very open and accessible parking lot with disability parking available up front. Well-lit inside the store also. There was a restaurant directly next door that my partner and I didn't have a chance to try, but it's definitely a plus! 40 minutes was a small price to pay for the drive out to this lovely establishment. read more

Since living overseas I like shopping at non-traditional markets because you can always find things normal grocery stores do not carry or unique spices and ingredients for cooking and beauty. After eating at Hogshead Cafe BF and I went into Asian Market and were pleasantly surprised by their selection. They carried things we didn't think you could get in the US and the cherry on this visit was finding Pocari Sweat!!! It's the thai version of gatorade, just not at sugary. This put this place over the top for me, along with all the cool woks and spoons for cooking. Prices are reasonable too. read more

The owners of this market are so pleasant! The market has great prices on meats and fish and carries very fresh vegetables. BEST IN SERVICE! Easily one of the most pleasant shopping experiences I've ever had. I first went to this store back in January to see if they had anything good to whip up a nice tasty soup, and I've never been let down since. The dad of the family that owns the store saw my ingredients, walked me through the store to find even better ingredients than those I'd picked out myself. Now, I don't live in the West End anymore, but I absolutely have no problem driving 20 minutes out of my way and paying the Powhite tolls and fighting West End traffic just to shop here. I come at least once a month. It's clean, spacious and well-ventilated, and a much more comfortable shopping environment (also doesn't have the awful rotting meat stench that another Asian market on Broad Street has. To be fair, there's no butcher here, but still...) The selection, though not as wide as aforementioned other Asian market with horrible smell and service, keeps expanding little by little every time I visit. That, to me, means they actually listen to their customers and meet their demands. They're gonna put the other place out of business soon, you watch! I love this store! They have a very large variety of grocery items and they are very close to where I live and not far from work also. The store is clean, but most importantly the owner really makes you feel as though you are valued as a customer. Everyone there that I have had interaction with has been friendly, polite and extremely helpful. Today's trip was my third and they were stocking in a shipment of freshly prepared foods from New York; each time I have visited I have noticed new additions to their inventory. The staff is friendly. The prices are reasonable. The store can sometimes feel cluttered and stinky, but in my life experience, most authentic Asian markets are like that. I love that this market has a wide variety of most ingredients I look for as a budding Thai/Lao chef. And by budding, I mean, I'm forced to learn because my Laotian mother is hundreds of miles away. SO, I enjoy walking down each aisle in Asia Market and seeing snacks and goodies that I haven't seen since childhood. Wish I could rate ZERO! Pay attention on every product you are purchasing, because most of them are out of date. Not joking, watch them out for your own health. Also, when you check out, make sure to check the receipt. This happened to us, they kept the previous customer's items on our receipt, so we paid for them without notice! I can't believe what they are doing, they look friendly, but keep selling out-of-date product, and steeling money from customers occasionally. FINALLY, another alternative than that other store. I was happy I didn't have to drive to the other side so I went in to get a few things I needed, ginger, thai basil, rice noodles. The owner pleasantly surprised me. I went to the register and she looked at the bag of thai basil i grabbed. She said, hmm, not as fresh, I will go to the back and get you a new one. Asian people don't do that, and I'm asian! haha. This place shows customer service which the other doesn't. The also take credit card. I paid cash anyway because I like to help small businesses save on card fees. I will always come to this place first for all my needs. The prices are about the same. I think the other place got too big for their britches. I hope people will understand the difference between this place and the other and support them, as they are a lot more friendly and caring to their customers. read more
