This place was awesome. We were walking in the area and wanted to chill for a beer, so we walked in here. My husband has been in Richmond for work before and he had remembered this spot once we were inside - he remembered it being very good! We sat at the bar and were helped immediately. We had great service the whole time, even after we paid. I needed a little snack so we endured in their loaded beer cheese fries and they were fantastic. Tons of flavor and the perfect pick me up. I always enjoy a hang at Three Notch'd. The space works well if you have a group, need to have a small group meeting, or just need a social space for an intimate conversation. It's never too loud and has a chill vibe. The service is always friendly and efficient. I'm not a huge beer person, but enjoy their socially as they really have something for anyone - needs, cocktails, cocktails etc. On my recent visit, I met a friend after work to catch up on life. I tried their firefly summer beer and it was refreshing and light. My friend ordered the blueberry salad and the sweet potato bites to share. The bites were round slices of sweet potato fried, and while not what we expected, they came with an aioli and we're delicious. I got the boneless wings in bourbon BBQ and a small three chopt salad. I enjoy their salad and appreciate that you can order a small as a side. The wings were not traditionally shaped, but super meaty and filling. I couldn't eat them all, considering the other items for the table. The happy hour is decent from 3-6pm daily (maybe just the weekdays), but that landed me $2 off drinks and apps. Lovely brewery. Honestly great area for pub hopping on a nice day. I like that this place also has cocktails! We ended up getting the nachos to munch on as this was our third brewery and we could use something. The nachos could have been amazing if the cheese wasn't mostly cold. I'm guessing maybe it's because they were busy? Because some parts were warm but most of it was cold. Otherwise they were pretty good. I was told the beers were good. My mom got the root beer float cocktail which as soon as she tried to mix the icecream into the float it practically exploaded we honestly should have gone up and asked for more root beer or something since half the drink was now on the table but we were pretty buzzed and just laughed it off. I got the apple for serenity which was not only delicious but very refreshing. Over all I would definitely go back. The staff was pleasant. read more

Had a great time visiting with our two dogs! Beer selection was great and really enjoyed the mango - fresh, light and crisp! My husband and I both got burgers that were cooked to perfection and so large, stacked with plenty of toppings. The outside area is tucked back from the Main Street and great to sit out with the dogs. I love the vibe of this place and overall think it's a great hangout spot with an awesome and large indoor space for large parties - but man, when I got the pricetag for everything we ordered, it just really bummed me out. Combine that with fairly slow service despite there being almost nobody in the place that night... it just wasn't my favorite. For bar food, we were shocked at how much we ended up spending - albeit most of it is pretty creative and hefty portions which I appreciated a ton. The pizza fries were the perfect sharable for the table and the hot and honey sandwich was also pretty solid. Don't remember the beer I got, which might also be a sign? IDK - it definitely wasn't bad. So overall a pretty mixed review. I wanted to enjoy it more than I did - and wouldn't be upset if I went back - but just think I needed to strategize my order a little bit better. read more

Starting this review that I came here with a gift card I had gotten to their beer club so I wanted to come for lunch.. didn't realize that the gift card only applied to their online purchased beer rather than getting a drink/ food in the restaurant, so if you get one make sure you check! They do have a pretty good lunch special where select sandwiches are only $10 and you can add on a drink for $5, which is a pretty good deal. I like their expanded space with lots of tables outside. I got the RVA panini - the ham was good, authentic ham (rather than lunch meat) which was really nice and the sauces on the sandwich had good flavor. I thought the bread was really yummy but there was too much of it that the sandwich needed more inside to balance it out. It was pretty bready. I got the salad on the side which was surprisingly good for a brewery. I wanted to get the Brussels sprouts (if a restaurant serves Brussels I WILL order them) but unfortunately they were sold out the day I went. As a non-beer fan, I enjoy the cider here. It's pretty good. Overall, I enjoyed my lunch. Would I have come here if I didn't think i had a gift card? Probably not. But if you are looking for a brewery to go to with food this is a pretty good option! read more

Great place and atmosphere! The people are so friendly and it's just a fun place to hangout esp for trivia night on Wednesdays! You order your stuff at the counter making it very easy and they bring your food to you. The food was so good. Lots of great options. I had the cheesesteak and salad-REALLY good, even the salad where you think it's just a salad but really it's not. It was fresh and the croutons tasted homemade and the ranch dressing is to die for. My friend had the spicy chicken grilled sandwich which she really enjoyed and another friend had some sort of BBQ burger and she enjoyed it too. My board game club meets here every other Thursday. I'm not a big beer drinker, but ever since they opened their new section (that has food and cocktails) I can always find something to drink. I will add that their beers are really good here though. This Three Notch'd is on the border of Scott's Addition. There is a little parking lot out front, but there is limited parking there. You can also find street parking behind the venue. It's not too far from Bingo Beer Co. It's on Broad and Altamont ave. They have a lot of seating here. It's a great spot for events. There are a bunch of picnic tables out front. There are high rise tables too and lower tables in their new section. While I haven't ordered their food before, a lot of my friends have said it's tasty, but they have small portions. They have a Women and Men bathroom on their older side and then two all gender single stalls on their newer side. If you're looking to do a brewery tour of Richmond, you'll want to add Three Notch'd to your list. It's a spot that's great for tons of things, especially since they've opened their new section. I'd highly recommend checking this brewery out. read more

I come to Three Notch'd since the board game group I'm a part of uses it as a meeting place, and it works well in that regard. However, I should note that very recently they have moved from the typical "order at the bar and sit where you like" to full table service, which turns it into more of a restaurant and makes it less accessible to group visits. Parking is quite tough in Scott's Addition in general, and with this place's limited parking lot (maybe about 6-8 spaces total), you will either need to come early or hope you get a spot within walking distance. They have quite a bit of seating both inside and outside which gives you flexibility based on what the weather is like that day. The ambiance is roughly what you get at most other Richmond-area breweries: industrial theming with exposed ceilings, and all the echoing sound issues that come with that. The service here has always been very polite and friendly, and they usually have a decent selection of beers (as well as the Uncool series of non-alcoholic drinks for those who opt not to imbibe). I'm a big fan of stouts and porters and they seem to have at least one if not more of those at any particularly time. Prices are... well let's be honest, with inflation and craft breweries, who can even say what a "fair" price is anymore? That said, their pricing is in line with other similar breweries. It's hard to choose between a 3 and 4 score here because of the split between the attributes of the brewery itself and the great beer/service here, so for now I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and go with 4. That said, they REALLY need to terminate this full table-service experiment. Going out is already an expensive endeavor, I would appreciate them keeping the bar-service going to help keep the tipping portion of the cost under control. Overall: 3.5 stars ----- Pros: - Great selection of beers (and non-alcoholic drinks too if you're into that), with some delicious-looking food too. - Lots of inside and outside seating gives you flexibility. - Surprisingly large amount of space for group events in the "big room". - Excellent and polite service. Cons: - Like most other Scott's Addition spots, private lot parking is limited and is mostly luck of the draw. - Prices are elevated, like at most area craft breweries these days. - Open ceilings and industrial design theming amplifies noise, less fun for folks like me who spent most of their youth destroying their ear drums at concerts. - I'm not a fan of this new full table-service experiment, and I don't plan to come here outside of the board game events so long as it continues. read more

We've driven by this place a lot and finally decided to try it out due to them having a full menu. First off the staff is super nice and friendly. I love that they have non-alcoholic options since I'm currently 9 months pregnant. We started off with the pretzel bites and they were amazing. I'll tell you what I love about Three Notched: -awesome staff (shout out to Dominick!) -dog friendly on patio (used to be indoors also until the restaurant opened) -lots of TV's inside to watch sports -vast drink menu including liquor, cocktails, and several non alcoholic beer options (my favorite is the non alcoholic hazy IPA, it's hard to find a NA beer that actually tastes like the real thing) -cool vibe and atmosphere. My one complaint was that there was a VERY load and obnoxious group next to us. We were forced to move outside (it was cold) to escape them. I wish the staff had asked them to tone it down. We have had drinks here before, but I had heard from a friend that they had opened up a full service restaurant. So, 4 of us decided to meet there. They have a small parking lot in front of the place and some parking across broad street. But mostly it is going to be street parking. We went in and were seated. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive. They had some good local craft beer options as well including a red amber ale on draft. It was very good. The menu is not bad. THere is pizza, burgers, salads, sandwiches along with appetizers, etc. We had some pizza and a sandwich. We also tried loaded nachos. I think they are still working out the kinks in the kitchen. The nachos were fair but were loaded up with black beans and limited cheese, etc. I mean a LOT of black beans. The fries were cold when the sandwich came out. However, I had a supreme type pizza and it was very good. So many pizza is their main thing. There is plenty of indoor seating and some outdoor seating. This place was ok. We went right when they opened and there was a line. Lots of people were buying packs of beer in to-go orders. This is such a great idea especially during Christmas time! I wish they had more sours, since I'm not an IPA fan and that's what they seemed to have a lot of. There was a lot of inside seating, though we sat outside since it was getting a little warmer out. They have these cool "beer cans" that they flip when a table is dirty or table to let customers know that it hasn't been sanitized yet. That was a nice touch. read more
