I found out she wasn't going to be able to use it when we had planned, and contacted Velvet Skin less than 48 hours after making the purchase to request a refund. I was denied by a clerk, the store manager and the business owner. They offered me store credit, which is worthless as the gift was for her and a friend while her friend was in for the holidays. We have no use for store credit, whatsoever. If you buy a gift at any store in America, as long as you provide proof of purchase you can usually get your money back. I explained this to Velvet Skin, who replied with "You can't get money back from gift cards anywhere." That's because gift cards are for more than one product - Walmart offers millions of options to use your gift card on. We bought a gift certificate for a specific type of service from a locally owned spa - not a major US retailer. You can take your chances, but don't expect any sympathy if something goes wrong. The BBB has been contacted about this issue, and is researching the case.
