There are pros and cons to Asian Bistro. I was excited to see another Asian sit-down restaurant to the Morgantown scene, especially one that serves a broader palette than Japanese/Sushi (don't be mistaken, I love some good Japanese/Sushi, but Morgantown is already fairly inundated with them!). My husband, younger son (1) and I went yesterday at lunch time to scope it out - in particular, I was extremely excited to see that they offered Korean food. We sat down, were greeted by friendly wait staff, and after our drinks were ordered, two Korean banchans were placed at our table (kimchi and cucumber yamul). "Nice!" I thought. The kimchi as okay(not very spicy?) as was the yamul (although a touch too sweet). When it came to ordering our entree's, we were initially a bit turned off because we were informed we were not allowed to order any lunch specials. That meant doubling our bill, and this is only lunch. I don't mind expecting to pay dinner prices for dinner, but on a Saturday at lunchtime, I really didn't expect to be refused a lunch menu? Sunday, maybe - Saturday, that's a stretch. Caught off guard by this, my husband hurriedly ordered the General Tso's Chicken (with fried rice upcharge of +2.00) and I opted for Bulgogi - after all, the real reason I came here was to scope out the legitimacy of their Korean. We also ordered some duck egg rolls as an appetizer, and these were fantastic. Stuffed to the brim with succulent duck meat. A+ 100%. Rather quickly, our meals come out, piping hot, with mine being served on a sizzling cast iron ox platter. Nice touch. My husband's was plated very nicely, with garnishes of thin orange slices and cherry tomatoes. First, I will say that my husbands G Tso's Chicken was very good, albeit, a bit on the sweet side and not spicy at all. The fried rice was by far the highlight, with the kind of sweet smokey flavor one comes to recognize from a Japanese "hibachi" style restaurant. It was worth the $2.00. My bulgogi however, with strong flavors of black pepper and no real sweetness at all, was much more akin to a very very good Chinese Pepper Steak, but far from Korean bulgogi. It missed the mark by a mile. It is not that it was not good tasting, but rather, it was delicious pepper steak, not delicious bulgogi. I will probably be back, although it will be for lunch on a weekday, and I will steer clear from the Korean dishes on the menu. I look forward to trying some of their Vietnamese and Thai, although, there are restaurants in town run by those ethnicities already (Peking House for Vietnamese and Chaang Thai for Thai food). I will stick to getting my Korean food from Ogawa (which, if you didn't know, was run by Korean's, so it's legitimate stuff!). read more

This is definitely my favorite sushi place besides volcano. I'm a big sushi fan and it's a nice place to go with friends who may not love raw fish as much as you do. They have a good diverse menu and their sushi is amazing. When it comes to delivery they always follow my instructions for my order and most of the time they even deliver early. Travel a multi state region and look for good food through Yelp. Found this place and ordered delivery the first time. Egg rolls and General Tso's chicken. The second time was the chicken satays and Sizzling Mongolian Beef. I must say, Asian Bistro has a certain distinctive, crisp quality about their dishes. Each dish is incredibly flavorful with a fresh flair! The chef obviously knows what he's doing. There is no over or underwhelming of the taste buds as is often encountered in your typical Asian restaurant. Thank you Asian Bistro for hitting the mark so solidly. One suggestion. How had I not known about this place before? I ordered some sushi to go since I was craving some tasty rolls and their menu had what looked like a nice assortment of specialty rolls. I snagged the Diamond Roll (shrimp tempura, cucumber, topped w/ lobster salad), Summer Roll (kani, shrimp, cucumber, avocado, topped w/ pepper tuna), and the Angry Dragon Roll (shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, mango, topped w/ crab). The fish was fresh and tasty which is always a concern of mine when getting sushi in Morgantown so this make Asian Bistro an instant contender in the area. Diamond - 3/5 Summer - 3/5 Angry Dragon - 5/5 I wasn't a big fan of the Diamond Roll (mainly due to the lobster sauce).. just a taste reference here though. The Summer was decent but nothing I'd pick again with all the other options I haven't tried yet! The Angry Dragon was delicious, plain and simple. The only place in Morgantown I can think of that has a better sushi offering would be Ogawa. The rolls may be a tad overpriced but it's still reasonable and worth it knowing that at the very least, you're getting fresh fish. I am truly a fan. Been here only once and this placing is bordering on a five star review from me. I found the staff genuinely helpful and attentive. They offer dishes from several asian nationalities including Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese. I had the Thai style duck . Also, I ordered a bowl of beef Pho to share with the table and again, it was spot on. Finally, my wife had the Kalb. This dish was semi-chewy but tender, with a tangy/savory flavor. This is a great place for sushi, especially for Morgantown. The rolls are good and the chirashi is great. (this is all i ordered from here, consistently...) I also think for sushi it's reasonably priced. My boyfriend ordered a variety of Chinese Dishes, and was happy with each one. I also enjoyed their house pinot. It was the first thing I tried, and ordered the same thing every time I returned, so I can't really speak for the rest of the drinks, though they do have a full bar. The waitresses are also very attentive and friendly. Compared to the other sushi restaurants in Morgantown (most of which I was repeatedly disappointed with, especially the unnamed sushi place downtown...), this place is amazing! read more

We've been wanting to try this place and decided to take advantage of the lunch specials ($7.25 for plate lunch M-Sa 11-3pm). We were immediately impressed with the nice decor and great service. The free mini appetizers of picked cucumbers and radishes were tasty. We ordered the General Tso's and Pepper Steak plates. Both were good, not excellent... but we are particular with Asian cuisine. Not good! In Morgantown on business, and had eaten here previously. We were with a customer before, and I don't remember it being this bad. My mackerel sashimi tasted like it was previously frozen. The hamachi yellowtail, I have to assume, was the same, with no flavor reminiscent of yellowtail at all. Pretty bad for sashimi. I also ordered the chicken lettuce wrap, and much to my surprise, it was more like chicken bits and veggies, with peas and carrots! Peas and carrots.....really? My husband had the pot stickers, which he also suspected were frozen. And he had the pad Thai chicken, which obviously used the same chicken "nuggets" they used in my lettuce wraps. Plus His was overload with oil, slipping off his fork! Won't be back, even though we'll make additional business trips. read more

Mediocre food. I mean it's fine if you want quasi Asian food that is watered down to the point of having no authenticity or identity. Maybe this was good in Morgantown 10 years ago, but people are more discriminating now. Too many crappy restaurants like this call themselves "Pan-Asian" as an excuse for having no standards. The bulgogi we ordered was not fully cooked and was no different from low quality takeout Chinese food, despite paying 15 dollars for it. It was a rip off. Their only saving grace were the other 2 sushi rolls we got. They were fine. This was the most disappointing meal I've had while living in Morgantown for the past 3 years. Very bad experience! I ordered bibimbap, which is the safest one can order from an Asian restaurant. I literally never had bad bibimbap before this. The food is good. We used to frequent here a lot and the service was ok. Recently the service is really horrible. They take your order but never return to fill drinks, ask about food taste, etc. We are sorry to say but we will probably not be back for a while. Less than one star if possible. One of the best meals I've had since moving to Morgantown. The salad was pale iceberg lettuce redeemed by a peanut sauce dressing, but everything else, from miso soup to cashew nuts, was so delicious I wanted to go grab people off the street to try it. Dad had the red curry shrimp, with a lively sauce, strong but not overly hot. I had one of the box lunches, with a variety of dishes (a drab California roll the only low point) surrounding teriyaki tofu, surprisingly rich and sweet and textured like a crème caramel. Heaven.
