A very rundown, dilapidated building and restaurant. When I came in, there were two children playing on the floor, while being watched by their elders as they were prepping food at one of the tables, no other customers were dining. There must've been two or three takeout orders, though during the time I was there waiting for my food to be cooked. They have pictures on the wall of their food so you have an idea what to order. The menu is fairly extensive and lunch specials that are reasonably priced. I suppose everybody has their opinion about Chinese food and I was craving some good flavors. This was our first time ordering from Ken's since moving to the Fairmont area. We were very impressed overall. This is definitely the best Chinese restaurant in Fairmont. Ordered for pickup, food was ready within the time frame given. The orange chicken was phenomenal, the white rice was very fresh and moist. The egg rolls and the cheese wontons were the highlights for me, both get a 10/10. My husband got the roast pork lo mein and he said it was good (he's particular about his Chinese food). Have used Kens as my go to for the past two years and haven't regretted it since. Everything I get I love. Big fan of the chicken and broccoli, cheese wontons, boneless spare ribs, Mongolian beef and sesame chicken. Only downfall is during busy hours of getting delivery it may take awhile and cause the fried foods to become dry and mushy. I suggest going to pick it up during busy hours but on the off hours delivery is usually pretty speedy. read more

Update: down to 1 star. We used to like Ken's. A lot. I don't know what's going on there now but the last few times have gone steadily downhill. Today I received my delivery an hour and twenty two (1:22) minutes after I hung up with them. I live a 5 minute drive from the store. I could have stomached that if I could stomach the food. The General chicken is the worst I've ever had. Frozen from the grocery store is worlds better. Dry, stringy and tasteless. Line I was overcooked and then left in a holding oven to dry out even more for an hour (it's that stingy stuff top of the photo. That was after chewing it for 2 minutes now being able to swallow it). The shrimp is a homogenous, overcooked and tasteless mush with no texture whatsoever. My brother said his Lo Mein tastes funny. That's all I have. They should be embarrassed by this food. Terrible. We've been ordering from here for years. Just got an order tonight and the bill seemed unusually high. Come to find there now a $4 gas charge for delivery. We live 2 minutes away and I'm sure they aren't giving this money to the driver per delivery. Nothing on their menus indicating a charge like this either. I called and ask and I'm told that's how it is and when I said I'll never order again they say ok that's fine. Great customer service and care for the community. The food is meh but for the area it's close and one of the only choices. Even with that I'll never order here again and I hope many follow suit when they see this charge on their next order. A two minute drive is not $4 in gas. Go to hell kens. Hey you know if you pay the driver $4 an hour you can take that from the $50 it costs to order dinner for two with a soup and rangoons. Sorry but no you'll never get another dime of my money. I don't see you taking money off my bill to pick it up either. The food is pretty good if you pick it up. However, the man who we have interacted with is not quite as friendly. Perhaps there is a language barrier but it doesn't hurt to smile if that is the case so the guest knows you're not intending to be rude. To say that Ken's is the best Chinese take out in Fairmont would be a true statement, However, this is no great feat considering the other options for Chinese in Fairmont are without a doubt the WORST I have eaten in all my worldly travels. The shrimp lo mein is great but their chicken looks somewhat grey like it may be low quality.

Fly in my food. When i called the place he was acting like they didn't do it... then was acting it wasn't a problem. Eventually he gets upset and tells me "fine then bring it back". My boyfriend and I order during school at least once every two weeks. And we love it! We always get the general Tso's chicken! The portions are very large and they always give you plenty forks, napkins, sauces, etc. One of the best things on their menu is the cheese wontons they are to die for! Kens has been our go-to Chineese restaurant for many years. I usually get the General Tso Chicken combo w egg roll. Hot, and cooked just right. My wife usually gets mixed vegetable w brown sauce or tofu w. brown sauce and cheese wontons. Consistently perfect. There is a bit of a language barrier when ordering, so we always have a menu and use the number. No issues. This is my go to Chinese place in Fairmont. Carry out orders take about 10-15 mins. Prices are good for the amount of food you get. We love the Singapore rice noodles. Just enough heat to make your mouth want more! Garlic Chicken is spot on. The steamed dumplings are some of my favorite things to order from here. They come with a dipping sauce that is great for the dumplings and great for white rice. I work on campus and order from Kens at lunch time a lot! I can only speak for the Beef and Broccoli because that's all I order, but it's always very good. For $8 I get a container of the entrée, fried rice, and an egg roll. Ken's is the reliable Chinese restaurant in Fairmont, WV. Their delivery service is great as they deliver between 10 and 15 minutes after ordering. Their delivery guys are always surprised to receive a tip, so if you are reading this and order from them, tip their service! The food ranges from ok to a bit better, but it will never leave you dying for more. The servings are big, but the food portions usually come with way too much of the sauce that comes with your meal. They also do not take special directions very well, as asking for brown rice or extra broccoli and less General Tsos Chicken will result in a frustrating order process.
