Maybe I've been spoiled by living in larger cities in the past, but Asian Center Supermarket is smaller and pricier than I'm used to :( For example, a pack of Yakult here was $5.99, whereas ASSI would sell the same brand for $3.99). I think it's because there just aren't any competitors in central PA (closest H-Mart would be 1.5h away, ASSI plaza 1h away, etc). The produce selection looked ok - you could get things like thai chili peppers here, bokchoy, or more exotic things like lychee and jackfruit. There are a lot of aisles with dry goods like rice, noodles, sauces (they did carry jarred Maeseri thai sauces which is what I was looking for). They have a seafood section which had a strong smell and a "food court" with labeled fresh food items which was pretty barren - maybe 2 takeout things of dumplings on the shelf that didn't look particularly appetizing (visited on a Sunday around noon). Also, notably, the store is not in downtown Lancaster -- it's kind of remote from everything else. I don't think it would be worth making a special trip for. read more

I'm so happy this grocery store exists and love to visit as often as I can. The store is clean and organized and I love the produce selection. The staff is very helpful and the seafood counter is a great place to try fresh fish. I picked up some mackerel last time I visited and the seafood clerk was able to filet it to my specifications. I also love that I can get Hotteok (Korean sweet pancake) mix here! There's such a big selection of items and I always find new ingredients here that I can create new delicious dishes with. Amazing! Just recently, I went here and I absolutely enjoyed it! The products are from Taiwan and Korea, so the products are way different than American brands and such! The staff was extremely kind, as well, which was an absolutely bonus! The things they had here were things like tofu, moon cakes, custard filling pastries, spices, treats, and more! read more

Normally I do my Asian grocery shopping during my monthly pilgrimage to Queens, NY, but it's not possible anymore due to the lockdown. Today we had to run an errand in the nearby town of Columbia and we made sure we stop by this Asian supermarket. Despite being the closest Asian "Super" market to me from Mechanicsburg, it's still a whopping 88 mile round trip! FWIW, the next closest one would be the H Mart in Frederick, MD. The supermarket is well organized, clean, and well lit. Produce on one end and a small food court on the other - which is current closed due to COVID-19. Selection for the produce is rather limited, just slightly larger than Aldi. But the variety of other Asian groceries is more than sufficient. The frozen section is particularly well stocked. I was surprised they even carry 2 brands of Dorayaki, a Japanese dessert I love. Prices are higher compared to what we're used to; but we were just really happy that we got to shop and replenish some Asian groceries which we've sorely missed for over 2 months - due to COVID-19. Oh, while we shopped we couldn't help but notice that almost all Asian shoppers were wearing gloves in addition to face masks. That's just bizarre. It wasn't until I returned the shopping cart at the end did I notice the sign at the entrance which asks shoppers to wear masks and GLOVES before entering the store! Incidentally, there was no hand sanitizers nor were the shopping carts sanitized - I suppose that's why they ask people to wear gloves? There were plexiglasses next to the cashiers and credit card transaction was hand-free, so in general, we felt reasonably safe shopping here. read more

I always go to the two Asian markets in downtown Lancaster because they are closer, but this is well worth the extra drive time! Wide variety of goods and clean. I grabbed menus from the restaurant and bubble tea place and look forward to trying them. It's no H-Mary, but great addition to our community and much needed. read more

I love this Asian market. I always end up spending so much because I buy a lot from here. I am always on the hunt for the frozen roast pork buns but they are always out, so it must be a big hit with customers. The produce section is pretty plentiful and they have a 'meat deli' in the back. They also have a hot food area where you could order certain food but because of Covid I believe it's not open at the moment. This place used to have these delicious baked goods (like Japanese cakes) in the front near the register but I didn't see them the last time I went, hopefully they get some back in again. Overall I love this Asian market and the owner (I think he is the owner) is super nice. I called him on the phone asking if he had a product and he was very nice and honest! read more

After watching a few Korean cooking demos on YouTube I was inspired to cook a few dishes for myself. This market fits the bill as it carries a wide range of Asian products. The store is well laid out and the pricing clearly marked. The packaging of the items are also in English. Read about this new business opening in the local newspaper where they described it as an Asian Food court...yay! I love when something new comes to town! Checked them out on a rainy Saturday around 11:30 am with the intention of having lunch. Although I was surprised when I encountered a grocery store I wasn't disappointed. This was by far the cleanest, modern, and most organized Asian market I've ever been to. Immediately inside I was able to "sample" some potstickers, prepared on the spot. Although the attendants english wasn't the greatest she was very friendly and eager to show us how to prepare from frozen on our own. We happily picked up a bag. I could see them expanding their business even more if they offered demos on Asian cooking as at the time of our visit we were the only non Asians there. While I had no intention of doing anything other than getting lunch suddenly I felt the urge to cook something and immediately pulled up my favorite Korean recipe for an ingredient list. The potsticker attendant was very happy to assist me in finding just what I needed and when she didn't understand what I was saying she sought the assistance of an english speaking employee that could. Walking around the store I was in awe of all the colorful labels and bizarre, unique ingredients. Labels were in english and in the native language so there was no mistaken what you were buying. The meat selection was small but very fresh and had labeling that it was locally sourced. The eggs and milk were from Pine View Dairy only a few miles away. Seafood, also limited (although it looked like there were in the process of expanding) was also extremely fresh. The isles were thoughtfully organized, well lite, and wide and even someone not familiar with Asian cuisine would have no problem finding what they needed. In speaking with a few employees, all very helpful and friendly and obviously proud of their store, I found out that the "food court" is due to open in about a month. I can't wait! In the meantime I'm going to check out Pinterest for some Asian inspired dishes now that I have a good resource for ingredients. read more

This is my new favorite grocery store in Lancaster. I never really liked going to the other stores that are similar in Lancaster. This Asian store has wide aisles, the staff is super friendly, and the selection is great. The whole atmosphere here is just so much more relaxed and the staff is so humble and helpful, willing to stock any product requests too. They are still working on filling up the store (still a running grand opening). But man, what a delight to have this Asian grocery store in Lancaster. Thank you guys for opening this! read more

Excited to have a clean, friendly Asian market open up. They carry meatless options like frozen vegan ham, dumplings, and the canned foods (although I find that the mock meat canned foods are not delicious at all). I get my curry supplies here. I wish they carried may wah meatless products. Perhaps sometime in the future they will? For the normal eaters there's everything else under the sun to make your Asian foods. This place is great. Another unexpected find. Since moving to Hershey, PA from Brooklyn, we were surprised to find such a large, well-stocked Asian grocery store. It definitely meets our cooking needs. The produce section is great- carries bok choy, daikon radish, as well as other more obscure (and delectable) items such as Japanese yam. Aside from produce, we have been drawn back time and again for the in-store restaurant serving up authentic noodle and BBQ/rice dishes! I thought I had left that behind when we left Brooklyn. But the BBQ meat is comparable to restaurants in Chinatown. My husband loves the spicy fish noodle soup. When I'm in the mood for some authentic Chinese comfort food, this place hits the spot! They even have an option where they will cook fish purchased at the store however you prefer (steamed, fried, etc.) We have not tried this yet, but it is a neat option. I have no idea how such a large niche store remains viable in central PA... but I am not complaining! It is a family friendly store. The grocery carts have an attached plastic car in front, which my son loves to ride in and pretend he's driving. It is a great way to keep him entertained (and out of trouble) while we take our time shopping! If I had any complaints, it would be that the tea section is a bit sparse. There are a LOT of packages of tea - but not actually a ton of variety. Same goes for dried herbs for soup. The selection could be better. It would also be nice if the small beauty section could be expanded. I think if they stocked Japanese makeup and skincare products, they would probably prove to be quite popular. This store is amazing! I was so excited when I learned that it had opened up, and I think it is a huge asset to the Lancaster community. It's moderate in size and fairly extensive (smaller than a normal supermarket but nowhere near a hole-in-the-wall). The produce section is excellent. Fresh bean sprouts, great selection of fresh herbs, Asian cabbages, fruits (great persimmons!) and everything we bought turned out to be fresh and kept well. Also, prices on produce are great. The freezer sections have some really great offerings, including frozen dumplings and steam-able buns, and frozen clam, oyster, snail, and all sorts of frozen fish. Prices on frozen seafood are unbeatable and the quality is quite good. Many of the offerings are also very sustainable. The tea and coffee aisle leaves a bit to be desired. The aisle takes up a lot of space, but there were precious few of the types of teas I like to buy. Lots of teabags, not much loose-leaf. They do have two Foojoy loose-leaf teas, the big 8oz boxy ones, a Jasmine and a Chun Mee (Tender Tip) green tea...these are good and have a good price. I also bought an organic Mao Feng green tea from China that turned out to be very good and was quite cheap. But besides this most of the tea aisle was junk. This was a disappointment. I'd like to see them stock more of the Foojoy offerings. There were no examples of loose-leaf red tea / hong cha (Chinese black teas) which was disappointing. No pu-erh cakes. Only a few oolongs and they didn't look that promising. Compared to some of the Asian markets in Philly the tea selection was a let-down. The fresh seafood though, OMG. This place has a ton of smaller fish that are really great to eat, sustainable, and inexpensive, like porgy, butterfish, smaller mackerel (under $2 a pound!!!). They had fantastically fresh squid too, at a great price. They also sell milkfish, a light-colored fish that somewhat resembles salmon in flavor but with a lighter texture, and I am a huge fan of this and it can be hard to find elsewhere. The cookware aisle also has some good equipment. I bought a bamboo steamer and have been loving it, using it to steam some of the stuff I bought in the frozen sections here. And there are some good snacks too. Basically, come here for the produce and the freezer sections and the seafood. The stuff carried here tends to be fairly high-quality. Every item I have tried from this store has been fresh and tasty. Contrasting with some Asian markets, this is a store where it is very safe to experiment just grabbing random things that look interesting. I have not been disappointed by anything I bought here! read more

We were excited to check out this asian supermarket given the high ratings, even though it's out of our way. They had very few customers when we were there. We decided to try their food court and ordered 2 noodle soups. #3 was not bad, but #5 was awful. The broth tasted like boiled water with no flavor whatsoever. Even the hot sauce couldn't save it. They also sell bbq roast pork and duck but the color was off and it look so dry as if it was hanging by the glass for decades. No thanks! So off to the grocery shopping. They have the fish cleaning and frying service which is similar to what Ranch 99 offers in California. Oh, how I wish there was a Ranch 99 here. We didn't try the fish, but I wanted to buy some meat. OMG. Beware of the mean and nasty butcher! This old geezer needs anger management therapy. I understand he doesn't speak English, but I was pointing to him what I want and using my finger to tell him how many pounds. He was grunting and mumbling something in his language. He looked like he wants to chop someone's head off. Terrifying experience. He might be related to the owner as there's no way he would still be employed with that bad attitude. Yikes! Anyways, I was not impressed with this supermarket. The veggies are not fresh. Prices are at least 20-30% higher than other asian markets. Their selection is limited. Based on the reviews and it's proximity to where I was going in Lancaster today, tried this store. I was very pleased with the large selection and the very fresh produce. Very hard to get fresh bean sprouts....and theirs were lovely! Loved that everything was labeled in native language as well as English...I ended up buying a lot more than what I went in for, simply because I could read the labels and descriptions! The store is well organized, clean, well lit and with nice wide aisles, making it easy to maneuver. I was very impressed with the staff. Everyone was friendly and very helpful, but the young woman at the register shared a few cooking tips and ideas with me - always appreciated!! Stopped in for the first time today after reading about it in the paper, and I found it to be everything I was hoping for. First of all, it's huge and brightly lit with wide aisles. The produce section had a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables--many that I didn't recognize from my regular American grocery store of the other Asian market in the city. Lots of new things to try! The freezer section had tons of dumplings, steamed buns, and desserts, all of which are favorites at our house. They also had frozen and fresh meats, poultry, and fish. The rest of the store was easy to browse (like I said--wide aisles!) and well-organized. I had no trouble finding the noodles I was looking for, and my son was overjoyed at all the candy and treats he discovered as we moved through the store. We'll definitely be shopping here regularly! read more

Truly remarkable in every way that matters!! My personal favorites in addition to many others are the prepared roast duck, kimchi, plus daifuku imported from Japan. Of course, there is so much more such as their overwhelmingly impressive selection of noodles(an entire WIDE isle!), tea, and kitchen wares. Then there is their delightful FRESH fish section--no really--fresh,clean and affordable! The staff, especially Mr. Tran were absolutely delightful!
