This is the only grocery store in Boulder with tamarind paste (not the type from India but the type for making stir fry) It's very crowded so you need to know what you want and the shop keeper is helpful. They have basically any Asian sauce or noodles you can imagine and they have some fresh produce. read more

Thursday March 11th 2010 : After such a disappointing trip from the other Asian Store, Hubs and I head down to this Asian Seafood Market. This Asian Seafood Market is located at The Villa Shopping Center. There are several other shops in this area too, like a Mexican Bakery, some restaurants, and an Indian Grocery Store. The shop is packed with your Grocery needs but its small mind you. You can go thru the tiny aisle by aisle if you want to "feast" your eyes on what they offer. They have lots of variety in terms of packaged food, sauces, mixes, candies, snacks and frozen goods. I realized that some of the Yelpers might have featured this store before but with the wrong address. Perhaps it situated on both numbers, but when I retrieve the business card, it featured the address as stated below in my review. They have other variety of goods from India, Argentina, Japan, China, Thailand and Vietnam to name a few. The highlight from this store for me is the MALAYSIAN goods that I have been eyeing for. Its featured in the photos that I took. The prices they quote is slightly higher compared to the stuffs sold in Broomfield, Denver, Aurora and Lakewood. Perhaps to lease or rent in this area can be expensive. So far, I DID NOT see any LIVE SEAFOOD. Perhaps you can call them up in advance and order from them. The parking space of this store can be limited. Though I cant deny they have an underground parking in case you cant park your vehicle above the ground or the parking space above ground is full. Yeah... this is a case of customer service vs food selection. There is a lot here in a small space, however the woman at the register isn't super nice. She was on the phone the entire time and was yelling at the person on the phone! She acted like I was inconveniencing her by buying stuff. She didn't help me right away. How rude. No one has to bend over backwards for me, but at least realize you are the person at the register and the person ON THE PHONE DURING WORK HOURS. This isn't my first time here... same type service. This place has almost any Asian food item that you could want, and everything is very reasonably priced. The produce selection varies, but is good quality and much cheaper than chain grocery stores. The store is primarily run by one woman, and contrary to other reviews, I don't think she's rude at all. She's not fake nice like we have come to expect from customer service people in the US, but she's helpful and knows all of the items in the store (which is truly impressive given the large inventory). How can you NOT love this place? If you're Asian or have an Asian sweetheart/friend, this place is a life-saver! And bless this woman-owner for taking such a risk and carrying so many items! Given that Ocean Pacific Market is a half-hour away, the Asian Food Market makes it super-easy to get everything you'd need to keep your kitchen filled with Asian delights. Not as scary as others have noted, for me at least. I think the woman who owns the place cleaned it up. One of the locals referred to this as the 'large Oriental market' - compared with the really small Asian market on one of those 30th St. strip malls. Funny! Lots of different types of Asian sauces, a few vegetables in the back (now those looked a little scary), and a fair run of dried goods like mushrooms and noodles. The lady at the front of the house was a rough peel ( see past reviews ). We use to call her the "Dragon Lady," -- but she now has a smile and is much more congenial. She even will crack a joke. And she will now help you find items. This is the only real game in town ( Boulder ) for Asian products. So 5 stars for that. Compared to prices for Asian goods on Amazon or at Safeway, this place is usually a bargain. You do have to watch the expiration dates. Also, watch Nutrition Facts labels on goods from China -- some of them are totally bogus. As per usual, prefer goods from countries other than China. If your looking for Indian product, check out India's Grocery at the other end of the building too. read more

This place is pretty awesome. I don't know what previous reviewers think clean is, but this place is clean. And well lit might I add. If you want to see spooky, go to a K-mart. Sure, this store is a little cramped, but hey, space is expensive to rent. How big are you people? I could navigate it fine. The vegetable tank was way over dramatized by the drama queen before; it is clean and a place to store vegetables before you sell them. What do you want? Don't you wash your vegetables before eating anyways? There were dented cans, but show me a store without one; just don't buy those. Here's a secret to you scardy-cats: soy sauce doesn't go bad. It is actually fermented before bottled (ie let to *sit* on a shelf somewhere). Vacuum sealed items (glass jars and tin cans) have been *vacuum sealed* so bacteria can't grow in them. Expiration dates don't really apply. As long as you don't buy a puffy can or jar with a "puffy" safety lid, you are fine. Plus, you are looking at stuff in cans, do you really think there's no preservatives in them? This goes for white people stores too you know. Ever seen a crusty honey bottle in a "white people" store? They are there you know. Crust hasn't killed anyone I know. Scrape it off. There is a good stock of rice noodles, sauces, basic asian vegetables, asian cookware, potstickers, moshi, rice, sushi stuff, dried mushrooms, medicinal herbs, and your basics. read more

There isn't many Asian options in Boulder so if you need ingredients for cooking Asian dishes of many kinds, this is a good place to shop. Mostly East Asian offerings, with some Southeast Asian options as well. It's the best you'll find in this town. read more

I don't get here as often anymore, but they sure have changed a lot in the past few years. More food, more ethnic variety. Maybe could use a name change to "international market" since they carry empanadas, Indian, and Mexican along with the Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian.......and really not that much seafood. The owner seems to be in a better mood too. I used to get an angry scowl, a growl, and my food shoved into the bag. But not so this last trip. I actually had some trepidation to ask her for some sweet rice flour. She kinda reminds me of my long deceased grandmother who used to squawk rather than talk.....I digress..... Anyway, she (the owner) actually showed me the stuff and asked what I was making, and suggested an alternative Japanese item. wow. I love this little market and consider myself lucky to be in the some hood. The selection is amazing, as are the prices. If you think you know Ramen, think again. Try Shin Black Noodle Ramen and you will never go back to anything else. This is also a great place to find imported and locally made Kimchi. Disregard reviews bagging the lady who runs the place. She's quick, efficient, and no-nonsense. I'm not sure why anyone would expect more than this. If you are just getting into Asian cooking, this is the place to go to stock your pantry and if you're already in deep, you likely already know about this place. I finally stopped by this market on Friday to pick up ingredients for Lumpia. The market had the narrow aisles that I remember fondly from the asian markets of my youth in Northern California. I also smiled as i noticed the not-so-stealthy asian lady (presumably the owner) following me around the store. When we would make eye contact, she would smile and pretend to be arranging something on a nearby shelf. Ah yes. Anyway, I was able to leave with a multitude of goodies, Asian Snacks, Soy Sauce, Lumpia Wrappers and delicious Sweet & Sour sauce. Prices were fair and they had a great selection of things. I would definitely stop by again (once we are low on supplies again). It was also nice to see that the store was pretty busy (I was 1 of 4 other shoppers) and that I was the only Asian customer! Stop by! The Parking Lot is a mess, though. Only 1 entrance and making a left onto 28th is damn near impossible at times. read more

Oh, poor Asian Seafood Market. So criticized and misaligned. Yet, it sort of deserves it. I do come here to buy a few staples - pot stickers, those sticky fruity red bean balls, sesame balls, those Indian foil-packed instant meals, mochi, and giant Aloe drinks - but everything else is, yeah, sort of dusty and spooky. And it's hard to get through the aisles if you are not a tiny Asian woman (as the owner is, so she probably stuffed the shelves accordingly for someone of her own size). However, I did buy choy sum here out of the scary fresh vegetable tank (yes, tank) and it did not make me sick or kill me. So there's that. And the fact that it's in Boulder. Boulder sorely needs better stocked Asian Markets and this one does its part to help. read more

I went there yesterday (3/4/18) The guy who worked there shepherded me through the store to find everything on my list. He told me the brands his family used. We shared a few laughs. When I told him the bitter melon they carry was good for your health he showed me the bitter melon tea that his grandfather drinks. They don't have the selection that POM or H Mart or the stores or south Sheridan have, but they have about everything I need and they have one thing the other stores don't have: great customer service. read more

When you first walk in you are greeted with the smell of fish. They have a lot of asian snacks like hello panda cookies, yan yans, jelly snacks....They have teas, sauces, spices, produce, seaweed, dried foods, rice wraps, mochi, some glass and plastic china. This place definitely has an edge to it, but I find that is part of it's charm. The staff are short and too the point, but I have found them to be helpful. I see a variety of people shopping there, and the selection is better than anything I have found in boulder. It is the only place in boulder where I can buy a large jar of Kimchi. Prices are reasonable, and the sesame balls are good, which they will push on you. For those put off by the atmosphere, think of it as a traditional market, where people are hawking their wares and the exchange is fast and furious. read more

This place is scary. There were some jars of bean curd in soy that didn't have expiration dates printed on them and the rims were crusted. I don't want to know how long that thing has been sitting on the shelf. This place is strange too. They have Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese, Indian and other Asian stuff but they also have Mexican stuff too. I guess this means that they sell everything that the local supermarket might not have...? I'm not sure if I want to shop at this place. Everything looked stale and old. I really want to find a decent Asian supermarket around here. Maybe I need to go to Denver. This place is gross. Smells like mothballs. Many things items look like they are past expiration. Wish they would wipe it clean and start over with whatever actually sells. If you are in Boulder and want a place to get frozen pot stickers or moshi from, then I would probably trust this place, but for everything else I'd stay far far away from it. read more

I personally enjoy shopping here. If you expect the experience to be the same as a typical Western grocery, you may be disappointed (as some reviewers apparently are). However, they carry items that you just won't find in a regular grocery store, and if you like to cook Asian food, it's good to make peace with the differences and go where you need to go to get what you need! read more

I really liked this place and I'm surprised it got such bad reviews. Some stuff was scary but a lot of it was great. POM is way scarier and much less convenient. This market has a lot of asian snacks, ingredients and frozen food but most of them aren't good for your health. Food here is relatively cheap and so the quality is relatively low. I'm going to give them a 5 to even out some of the lower reviews because I feel they are overly harsh. Are they scary? Not really. A little dusty, perhaps, but scary? No. There is some disorganization on the shelves and it can be hard to find items but the "scary" (really? scary?) shop owner is very helpful at locating goods for you. The aisles are a bit narrow but if you aren't 300+ pounds, you won't have trouble navigating them. The prices are pretty good on some things, a little expensive on others. Typical supermarket in this way. The vegetable section is hit and miss. If you catch them after they have received a shipment, the variety of asian vegetables and price can't be beat. If you hit it right before they shipment arrives, uh, not so much. read more

I just moved here and was looking around for an Asian market. Walked into Asian Seafood and found everything I need. The owner's son was giving someone instructions on how to make panang curry and was very friendly and helpful. Great selection. Not the place for fresh veg, but everything else looked great. I was on the hunt for gochujang (Korean pepper paste) and foolishly skipped over this place because it calls itself a seafood market. Wandered in today and they had a few different kinds on the shelf. This place is more international grocery than seafood market. The lady at the register was friendly to me. Really didn't expect to see an Argentinian section in the Asian Seafood Market, but I love that they carry dulce de leche, yerba mate, and alfafores. read more
