After hiking at Brainard Lake we had food on the mind - Mediterranean food. After trying hummus, bread, and Muhammara dip from this Med Market I just knew we had to check them out. Our fave Mediterranean sit down restaurant is in Denver so we were hoping this would become our local go to. Located conveniently just off of 28th street we easily found parking. Staff were welcoming and friendly. We were delighted by all the pastries (various baklava and more), grab and go breads and dips, grocery offerings as well as the huge menu for food. I went for a chicken plate while my partner went for a gyro plate. Our meals were cooked expertly and ready within minutes & we ate right in the market. Our plates were so inviting with fresh salad, feta, tzatziki, olives and fresh warm soft bread. Everything tasted so great we didn't even take a picture. Even the gyro was pretty decent flavor wise, just a touch on the small side for the money IMO. Great little market. We arrived around 1:15p and there were four people ahead of us. 45 mins later, we were finally served. What a wonderful find. A huge selection of imported goods, including a broad selection of products from the West Bank. And wonderful fresh foods, including gyros and wraps as well as shwarma and grilled meats, Fresh hummus and baba ganouj made every day. Amazing baklava and Middle Eastern pastries, all made fresh daily. The owner, Salem Garni, is super friendly and very helpful. It might be because the store is not facing the busy 28th St (it's facing Bluff St), this market appears to be hidden from many people's eyes. But sometimes that is a good thing. When a business humbly exists, it means (in many cases) that they are genuine about their purpose: they simply want to serve the community in which they reside in. This market is not a fancy shore in any way either; it's there to serve the residents that truly appreciate and crave for Mediterranean foods/cuisines. It's either you want to buy ingredients so you can cook at home or need a quick bite to eat, this tiny place can offer the both options so conveniently/easily. The young man behind the counter was quiet but he smiled warmly to welcome my presence. The greeting doesn't have to be over the top. A subtle and yet warm acknowledgment is all it takes for me to feel welcomed. I was hungry for a late lunch. I wanted something not too heavy on my stomach but filling. And I wanted a little bit of everything, too. All of this led me to the Combo #5 which is a veggie plate. The little brochure menu the same young man gave me says the combo is $8 but it's now $10 on the menu board right above the deli counter. No big deal. Once I got my food and opened the container, I was shocked as to how generously portioned it was. The hummus, baba ghanoush, 3 pieces of dolma, tabouli, 2 pieces of falafel, and a huge pita bread were all beautifully put together in it. Goodness gracious! "Am I eating all this on my own?" was something I uttered with a gasp! And this was (like I said) only $10. If you ate something like this at a restaurant it'd easily be $15 in this day and age when things are on the rapid rise due to the unprecedented inflation. This is the best spot for authentic Mediterranean food at a very reasonable price considering the amount of food you get. The gyro meat is incredibly good and flavorful. Also love their falafels and wouldn't go anywhere else. The kataifi is incredible and their baklava is great as well. Located in a small strip mall and not the most assuming place at all with a small amount of parking spots in front. The inside is a grocery store selling all sorts of really cool foods from all over the Mediterranean. The owner always behind the counter is very kind. This place is ok!! The falafels are tasty, and the portions are decent. What is lacking is the finesse and attention to details. I ordered quite a few things once, and 3 things were wrong and one was missing completely. They took my order at the cash register and didn't write anything down....so.....ya. I do think its a great value meal deal, and its filling. The flavors are just ok though. I didn't really find anything unique enough or a favorite to keep me returning over and over. It feels more like the place you pick if you have to, not cause you are craving it.....if that makes sense? I wanted to love it, and I did try. I came to eat there over 5x but I just always was left feeling like I wish it had xyz, and then was left kind of meh. I always feel like businesses should taste their own food over time. Keep refining their dishes and flavors. Food culture, food knowledge and flavors in general is knowledge that people have now. This tiny place is tucked away in a little shopping center and is easy to miss from 28th, but it's well worth seeking out. They have a small but well-curated selection on the grocery side and the best gyros I've had in a long while on the food service side. I'm not one to comment on Yelp, but this was worth it. I can't think of a time I've eaten a better falafel. I was in Boulder for 2 days and came back here both days because it was so damn good. Every part of the falafel sandwich is perfection: toasted bread, lots of seasoning, just the right amount of sauce and hummus, and these glorious homemade falafels gently fried upon ordering. I'm sure their other food is good too, but I can't imagine not wanting to order the falafel every time. Baklava was superb also! I am shocked that there was nobody in the restaurant both times I was there. If this were located anywhere else there would be a non-stop line out the door. The deli part of the business is delicious, cheap, and fast. I always get the falafel (vegan if you ask for no tzatsiki, a request the owner always remembers when he sees me). It's a meal.
