I've been a customer since the day they opened . Maybe the bus boy was cooking. Egg roll: bland shredded cabbage w/no shrimp no egg no seasoning, wrapped in cardboard. Shrimp in Lobster Sauce: Thin watery disgusting gruel w/old over cooked shrimp. Spare ribs: nothing but fat and gristle. I have never gotten food from them that was so AWFUL. So very sad, we used to love this restaurant. When I called and spoke to someone they knew immediately I was a frequent customer but seemed totally uninterested in lack of quality coming out of the kitchen. read more

Went for lunch on a Saturday in March with a friend. We both ordered the Bento Box lunch as i have many many many times previously. The food is ok, except the soup is always cold and i always ask repeatedly for the soup to be heated. On this visit, there was a charge of $1.75 on the bill for each soup. We have never been charged for soup with the lunch before. I asked the server and he said that the only soup that is no charge is Miso soup. The hot and sour soup is extra. That is NOT the way the menu reads and is incorrectly and confusingly presented. We have never ever been charged for soup previously in maybe 50 visits. I asked for the owner and she took a very hard line that there has always been a charge for soup but admitted that the regular server had failed to charge for it. AND there are two soups that are no charge...The Miso soup AND the Egg Drop soup which is contrary to what the server said. With the confusion over the way the menu is written and many prior visits with a different billing, i would have expected the owner to respond in a more good regular customer service manner. A line was drawn in the sand and i will never return. The old saying... Treat a customer well and they will tell a few people... Treat a good customer poorly and they will tell everyone. read more

The udon noodles was a miso base, so light on the flavor it was nearly flavorless. The general tso's chicken was a tiny bit of chicken mixed with a bread filling, and very disappointing for being so. Their plain tuna and salmon rolls were good though, no complaints there. The service was very quick and the ambiance was alright. The floor could have been cleaner. This was my first sit down dinner in this restaurant. I came before for takeout and waited a really long time for a simple order. Turned out that the kitchen forgot my order but the guy taking my order gave me a 10% discount for my next visit. Tonight I came in and the place was half empty, but it filled really quick. Ordered some simple dishes and I would say the food was four star, hot, tasty, nice crunch and spices. I finished eating about 15 minutes ago and my waiter is no where to be seen. When he finally came and brought my check, he disappeared again. The restaurant is packed, people are standing and waiting to get in, and I am taking up a table for 6. Negatives: their prices are overblown most likely due to their rent being high and business struggling these days to make it in our shared economy. I do love their hot & sour lemongrass soup. I had a spicy scallop handroll with Ikura on top which was good but $$$. Also ordered the salmon & eel sashimi. The salmon cuts were small here. Look I was desperate for sushi in Westminster and I didn't feel like driving to J&Y Tokyo Market in Eldersburg (#1 in CC) but it costs me for my convenient sushi habit this day. Note: This review is several years old. The events described here occurred before I even knew about Yelp. I have truly no idea what it is like now. I am posting this to find out if anything like this has happened to anyone else. A somewhat large group of friends and I went into the restaurant. We hadn't really discussed doing this ahead of time. Our first big mistake was not having a lot of money, and assuming someone else in the group did. Alas, as we were seated and an older lady began taking our orders, we all ordered water. We looked over the menu and one by one, all somehow decided we didnt want anything to eat. This, rightfully, made the waitress angry. She said something to the effect of "if you're going to eat out, dont just sit down at a restaurant and order water."; entirely valid. None of us argued with her. Of course we tipped her - we hadn't meant to be rude. The juicy part comes about a year later. My would-be fiancé and I ate here after seeing a movie. I didn't notice at the time that the waitress was the same woman. We both got miso soup with our meals. I remember wondering why his was so yellow, while mine was brown. I ate it. It was somewhat sour and...smelled a little like pee. I ate more to be polite. I don't think I finished it. I immediately didn't feel well. As we drove home I asked what he thought of the miso. He said it was fine. When we got home, I puked. Objectively, I find this pretty cheeky. I'm not worked up about it, because it only caused me to suffer for a couple hours. It's still not a very good look for the place. I'm not sure what would have allegedly been in the soup to make me vomit. I'm happy that was the only effect. It's good to be reminded that every single kitchen ever isn't always reliable and safe. read more

We have ordered from here since they opened. Never had a bad meal, nor have we ever had any gastrointestinal issues from the food. Owners are friendly. Servers are courteous. It's standard American Chinese, but the sauces and spices are just a tad better than any of the other local offerings. Sushi is fresh and quality is consistent. My favorite place for Sushi! I always get the same things. Either the Philly roll with regular salmon and shrimp tempura roll with spicy mayo (their mayo is my favorite, every place makes it different), or Singapore Noodle or Beef with mixed vegetables. The beef with mixed vegetables always seems so fresh and tasty. The larger portion is better. You seem to get a bigger variety of vegetables that way. I've been going there for 7 years and only once or twice have I gotten the wrong salmon, I don't like it smoked. The only thing I would change is the edamame seems to be cooked in the same pot as the rice or something cuz I'll find rice in it. I think that's kinda icky. I don't like my prepared food to touch other different prepared food. I love the gyoza and it's always tasty big portions. I think it's unnecessary to put a paper Doily in the box tho cuz it sticks to the dumplings. The sauce to the gyoza has changed over the years. I love it either way. Everyone makes that different. Now I actually want Gyoza. But I already ordered a pizza. My boyfriend and I got there most Friday's and I absolutely hate when he wants to go to any other place for sushi. I wish I could say my dinner this evening was a good experience. I've been to A.Sakae before and all was good but that was a while ago. I should have been tipped off upon entering an empty dining room at prime time on a Friday eve. The experience started when I ordered a corona and the server had to check if they had one. They didn't which wasn't a huge surprise since it's Asian not Mexican.... so no big deal. They did have a Sapporo....... a single Sapporo and that was the only beer in the house! Really, one beer? I ordered water to not be selfish just in case a real Sapporo preferred patron would happen by. I ordered my dinner without an appetizer as my memory reminded of the large portions from my last visit. So I waited for my meal. Another patron appeared while I was waiting. The server got their order and we both waited and waited. Finally food came out and I was ready for it. It was piled high just like I remembered. It was for the other table who arrived 15 mins after I did, so My wait continued. The server apologized for the wait and was telling me something through her Mask and heavy accent that I couldn't understand but I think by her body language she may have been explaining her disdain with the cook and I think she may have slugged him in the gut as part of the exchange . I nodded and said ok. 45 mins later my food came out with another apology. It was piled as high as I remembered. Couldn't wait for the first mouthful but I really should have. It was ok but just barely and it was piled high. Basically a huge amount of barely ok food that I felt obligated to do something with. I don't know what happened to this place but things have gone in the wrong direction for sure. Legit Chinese and sushi joint. Hard to find a place that does both well. Hot n sour soup and ichiban avacado, salmon, tuna and yellow tail roll is my go to. Kung Pao chicken is also great. Good bottled beer selection. read more

Unbelievable experience tonight! We have eaten here before. We love the Westminster Roll. Tonight my husband ordered spicy beef, $17.50, he asked for fried rice instead of white, $2.50 extra. Ridiculous! My daughter ordered the Incredible Roll, they brought the wrong roll had to wait for them to make the correct one. I ask for a sharp knife to cut the giant hunks of broccoli. She brings me a butter knife and says it's the sharpest knife they have. When the check came she explained that she automatically added 18%. Are you kidding me. I usually tip more than that but it's my choice how much I tip based on the service I received. I asked her if it stated on the menu that tip would be added. It does not. I asked her to bring me the bill without the tip added. She explained that sometimes people don't tip her and she has a family to feed so she's now adding it on to make sure she gets a tip. The manager tried to say they add the tip because of COVID. Are you kidding me....audacious! She did bring an amended bill and she joined a group of employees to trash talk and stare while I filled in my chosen tip amount and signed. Will NEVER return! Placed multiple orders online, they can never find them, never be able to tell that I have already paid. Sitting at a table now at 6:56pm for a pickup order that was supposed to be ready at 6:26pm. Well I have always raved about this place in the past. As one of the best Chinese restaurants in Westminster area. But last night I ordered carry out and it was absolutely terrible. The egg rolls were actually burnt as were the spare ribs. The egg rolls were actually a deep brown color and rather empty inside. The spare ribs had to have the burnt crust scraped off in order to even try to eat them. If I did not drive all the way from HAMPSTEAD to get there I would have brought them back. The rest of the food (shrimp in lobster sauce and sweet and sour chicken ) was good. On the whole just very disappointing given all their business at this time is carry out. Hoping this was just a one time thing. But will wait until they open for eat in the next time. read more

This place used to be good, but I'm going back 10 years. I keep trying to give it a second, third ... fiftieth chance, but now I'm done for good. I ordered carry out and was shocked when I went to pick up my order. I ordered Egg Foo Young, a Chinese staple, and was disappointed on more than when level. First, I discovered that they were charging me $5.20 more than their closest competition for the same size and quantity of food. That's HUGE!! These are the only people I know who charge for two separate sizes for Egg Foo Young. Don't fall prey to their scam to purchase the smaller sized one for $8.95 (Still higher than their competition's normal sized Large order). What they don't tell you is that they will give you 2/3 of the quantity for more than 2/3 of the price. But all of that wouldn't even matter as much if the food was even equal in quality to the competition, which it is not! The Egg Foo Young here is a 5/10. Local competition serves a much tastier version at a much fairer price. I don't patronize restaurants that overcharge customers because they think they can get away with it. I encourage everyone to shop around. You'll find that you get better Asian food for less elsewhere! read more

However, I only ordered for myself two rolls. Everything was delivered except for one roll that I ordered online. I will say that Asian Sakae has outstanding sushi. During the Covid epidemic, we have been using restaurant delivery. Asian Sakae is very sporadic. Sometimes it comes quickly (we are only about 2 miles from the restaurant) and at other times we've waited over an hour and have had to call. The Japanese, Thai and Chinese foods are good. Always flavorful. I got chicken and cashews last night and I was disappointed b/c it was loaded with chopped celery and no other vegetables...well, I think I saw one carrot cube. There was plenty of chicken and the sauce was tasty, but overall it was a lackluster dish. I think AS is expensive. We got a small fried rice, my chicken, 2 small spring rolls, goyza, a pad thai and a drunken noodes and it was over $60. I do give a 15% tip and delivery was free. Their small fried rice is VERY small and the large (which I consider a regular size) is close to $15. That's a lot. We love the sushi but will probably go to Forbidden City in the future. read more

Nothing too crazy. My spicy tuna was dead on. Delicious and not terribly spicy. The rainbow roll was merely ok. Not the freshest fish, it was a total let down compared to the spicy tuna. We understand the cost of everything has increased but are very disappointed in our orders from Asian Sakae yesterday. The 'large' portions were very small and the containers weren't even filled. I ordered orange chicken, asked for very, very spicy. It was mild at best, included about 10 moderate sized pieces of chicken and 3 pieces of broccoli. My husband ordered chicken fried rice with pineapple, again asked it be very spicy which it wasn't. Had about 5 pieces of pineapple and the fried rice was greasy. We wonder how many companies are using the 'scarcity of food supplies' to hike the prices. Wonderful service! I go here a couple of times a month but I wish I could go more! Sushi is amazing and the Thai food like the drunken noodles and panang curry is to die for! Favorite sushi rolls are the Maryland roll, Westminster roll, Black Dragon roll, and Sweet Mamba roll. Lo mein, crab rangoons, soups, and all their salads are great as well. I have had a problem one time, and they were very quick to fix it. Crispy beef and Mongolian beef are excellent. The duck dishes are great as well. read more

This restaurant is a happy replacement for the previous Chinese restaurant in the same location. Their sushi is fresh and portions large. The Chinese food is well prepared, tasty, and a wonderful addition to the community. I came from Brooklyn, NY where there were many great Chinese restaurants. Asian Sakae holds up exceedingly well in comparison to those places. I am not sure what has happened to previous reviews I wrote that detailed the various dishes my wife and I had, but rest assured, there are no clunkers on their menu. read more

Happened to be in the area and decided we were in the mood for sushi. The staff here is incredibly friendly. While the restaurant is small the menu is far from lacking. My wife and I are huge sushi fans and the quality of the food here is top shelf. The prices are comparable to any other sushi bar in the region, but the portion size is better than any other. read more
