The "fried rice" and chicken hibachi w/vegetables

I will start out by saying we were greeted at the door & the lighting was nice. We were the only people in the restaurant. The music was terrible. It was loud & some new pop rap. The server was nice. We ordered hibachi (big mistake). The seaweed salad substitute was $4 more. Weird because the price difference between the "green salad" & "seaweed salad" was less than $3. The "green salad" was gross. It was some white crunchy chunks of iceberg lettuce with one wrinkled cherry tomato & one slice of cucumber with an enormous amount of orange salad dressing. The miso soup was the only good thing at the restaurant. The hibachi chicken came out looking bad. It looked like they took a frozen bag of teriyaki chicken, warmed it up, & served it over vegetables. The texture of the chicken was bad. Some pieces of chicken & vegetables were cold. The "fried rice" wasn't even good. When I brought up the chicken & vegetables being cold the server got the manager. The manager had an attitude the second she got there. She was like, "I know it's not cold. We made it fresh here". She took the plate & walked off. She didn't ask if there was something else she could do for me. She didn't offer to make a new dish. She didn't apologize. She took it & stormed off. At that point it was time to go. We paid for our soup & salads & left. I will never go back there again. The food was not even mediocre. It was not even edible. Someone I know said their ramen was good. Maybe it is. I will not go back to try it though due to the managers attitude & the poor quality of food I was served.

My husband and I came here for a lunch date yesterday. The sever was very attentive. We ordered the snow bros sushi special, a chicken teriyaki lunch box, and a sushi lunch special. The snow bros sushi was four very large pieces you would have to break into pieces to eat. The teriyaki lunch box was ok. The chickens teriyaki sauce was kind of bland as well as the fried rice. The California roll was definitely bland as well. My husband ordered sashimi because we didn't see nigiri but apparently this establishment uses sushi and nigiri synonymously...so that was confusing. Overall it was an ok food food. I don't think we would go out of our way to come here.

Prior to Katana we only had one good sushi place in town but now we have two. These guys are going to give the other place (not even open fir dine in yet) a run fir their money!! Expansive menu with plenty of selections. We trued several items and everything was fresh and tasty. Plenty of seating and they have a full bar.

I come here all the time. It's my favorite place to come with friends on a Saturday night, or with family for a Sunday lunch! The food is consistently well-done, and I've enjoyed everything I've ordered here. My personal favorites are the ramen, shrimp tempura roll, and the teriyaki chicken lunch box combo. The atmosphere is super cool, and it's always clean. The staff are always super friendly and sociable; I'll always remember the first time I went there and the waitress insisted on packaging my leftover ramen in separate containers (noodles in one cup, broth in the other) so that the noodles didn't get soggy. I never would have thought about that, and the care taken with it was really impressive. The portions are large, the drinks are great. I really can't recommend this restaurant enough.

    The traditional, yet chic, decorating.

During a recent "bachelor" period, I decided to treat myself to an Asian dinner and homed in on a local establishment, Katana Japanese Cuisine (410 Meadow Creek Drive #103, Westminster, MD 21158). The facility was easily located in the Shoppes at Meadow Creek, with its ample parking. The restaurant interior was decorated in a traditional, yet chic, Japanese fashion, which contributed to an enjoyable culinary and cultural experience. Owners Xiu Chen and her sister, Fen Chen, made me feel very comfortable, immediately upon taking a seat at the sushi bar. Waitress Jennifer made sure I was positively engaged in the experience during the entire stay. Xiu, who arrived in the U.S. 20 years ago from Fugian, China, explained the locations of the family-owned restaurant: Mt. Airy (8 years of operation), Baltimore (2 years of operation) and Westminster (6 months of operation). To begin the meal, I was provided with an appetizer of the Spicy Red Snapper, which consisted of a perky filet wrapped in a crab roll and covered in spicy, red/green chutney sauce. This was accompanied by a bowl of the traditional Miso soup and a hot pot of green tea. For my main entree, I selected the Toro Special Roll. Fresh cucumber slices were rolled inside a spicy fillet of fatty, belly tuna and sectioned into eight delectable pieces for satisfying consumption. At the behest of the staff, I closed out my meal with an order of the Christmas Roll. This combination of fresh avocado and spicy tuna, salmon and yellowtail was covered in roe and a spicy sauce, then wrapped in light, soy paper. The filling meal was delicious and accompanied by great conversation. I highly recommend this Asian gem to local residents and people passing through the Seat of Carroll County, Maryland!

    Smushed sushi.

Absolutely disgusted. Paid $30 for sushi to only open it to see they shoved 24 fucking pieces in one small ass container. Shits falling apart and it's not even that tasteful. You wanna waste your money? Katana is your place. Will NEVER RETURN.

Was a little nervous when q5 rolled into town but rest assured this is still easily my go to. Everything is excellent. I love the servers, the food and the time it takes for me to have food in my mouth from the moment I walk in the door. I typically get chirashi don or unagi don but love the hibachi, dumpling soup, ramen...actually everything. This place is clean, upscale and I honestly forget I'm in Westminster every time I go there. They mix it up with their "on the house" appetizer and it's a healthier option than what q5/2 has been slinging for years. Great drink options from the bar...wish they had an IPA but I digress. Best/biggest salad of any local Japanese joint. Miso soup is full of kelp and tofu and always steaming hot. The spicy snapper roll for $5.95 is a steal. This place is still the standard. Katana FTW!!!

They mentioned the kaarage was some of the best they'd had stateside; the salmon tartare was also lovely. It's decorated nicely and servers were accommodating for my friend with dietary restrictions. Hope to visit again soon!

This is a chain restaurant throughout the DMV, but I'd say that this location has the best…read moredecorations and ambiance than most of the others. The service is a hit or a miss depending on who you get, sometimes great and sometimes a bit slow. But not horrible. The food. So this is known for their ramen. I think that their ramen is solid, not amazing but good. Decent broth flavor and good chew in the noodles, I personally prefer a hotter broth, but it comes out slighter warmer than room temp (not my fav, but still good). The Chashu is usually good most of the time, tender and not too chewy, there was a few times that it was meh, but most of the time it's good! The ramen, 3.5/5 The Izakaya part. The yakitori is lacking. The chicken thigh should be the most tender and flavorful but it was so dry (how can you mess up dark meat?) and lacked depth in flavor. Chicken 1.5/5 The US Wagyu is mediocre. You can tell that it's US cause it's tough. Sometimes it's tender and great and other times it's a bit tough. Steak 3/5 The sushi. Mhm, the sushi is so expensive a bit overpriced doe what you get, and I'm not sure if it's worth it. Their special rolls are ~ $20 range, but the size of the roll is about the same as their "standard rolls" seems not worth that premium price. Usually at most sushi places their special rolls are larger in size and makes it worth paying more for. Even their standard nirgri prices are double than most places. I have gotten a variety of rolls over the years and it's honestly just okay. Good sushi, but small and super overpriced. 3/5
